With the on-going debate in Twitter about this episode, and on what page both the leads are in this relationship, I'm just here to point out some of the more valuable and noteworthy things that we might have missed in the whole discussion.
There is no doubt that Ashi was brilliant in that episode, and it was purely Ashi's show on Saturday. AshGun's first scene showed the level of angst that these two can serve if given the opportunity. Dear makers, you have two gems in your hands please do not ruin it for them and for us now.
In the first scene, I finally saw the patience of our Meety breaking. She was so done with his 'dukh dard' just like any normal human being would be. Finally, the only person who understands MA failed to understand him. I do not blame her. She didn't see what her sister is trying to do. Situation Rajisthan mein jaisa tha waisa nahi hain. In Rajisthan, Manushi just making an appearance was enough to make MA react. Abhi Jo she is using her cheap seduction and harassment techniques to make him react and then guilt-trip him is something only we,as audience know. So, for her, it was necessary to show her husband the bigger picture. MA's complaints that she wasn't there to handle him. Here, he finally revealed that he needs her to constantly give him strength. It was necessary for Meety to show him that she is herself broken, and she has been handling everything ever since her father's death and now, she wants him to handle her and not the other way round.
She took him down the memory lane in order to give him strength. But what we as audience got was the chance to see the storm that shaped our Meet Hooda. Did I know Meet Hooda was strong? Yes. But are the writers hell bent on making her Mahan ? Yes. Saturday's episode showed us that she isn't Mahan, she is as human as we all are. Our struggles shape our personalities. What she faced in her life could have easily made her bitter towards life. Like Naina from Kal ho na ho, Priya from Balh2, Kashaf from ZGH. (None of these ladies are bad by the way. It just shows that every person has a different way to react and respond to a bad situation.) She became the sunshine that she is. She allowed her pain to make herself more powerful, to make her the 'ray of hope' that she is. She talked about two very important changes that her father's death brought in her life.
'main khudko papa ki pari kehti thi. Papa na apne Saath Saath Mera pankh bhi Le gaya'
'Unke Saath unki woh Meet bhi khatam ho gayi'
That's why that hair-cutting scene was included. It showed the death of 16 year old Meet and the rise of 'Shahabad ki don - Meet Hooda'.
That '16 year old Meet' is actually the lead of this show.
The Meet who knew how to smile for herself, she didn't look for her own happiness in other people's happiness. The Meet who knew how to weave her dreams, she constantly didn't have to compromise for her own family. The Meet who enjoyed life, and not only lived it. She herself doesnt know that she has sacrificed more than she should for her own people. And as her character is, she would have happily compromised with this life. Kehta hain na Jo insaan sabka khayal rakhta hain aksar woh khudka khayal rakhna bhul jata hain. She deserves better! She deserves a better education. She deserves to wear the uniform of her dreams and serve her country. From here her journey begins. Her journey to resurrect the same spirit that her 16 year old self harbored. The little girl with dreams in her eyes, ambitions larger than life, and true happiness in her heart. And who will bring those wings back to her? It will be Meet Alhawat. He started doing so by giving her the key to the education that she deserves. Finally, someone is there to tell her that she doesn't need to sacrifice, she should focus on herself. Finally, someone is there to be the shield to the 'Protector' that Meet Hooda is.
And Meet Alhawat. Uska toh Meet Hooda ney Keh diya. She wants him to be the strong tree that her own father was. If he wants, she could take him to his cradle and take care of him for the rest of her life, which is honestly what she has been doing till now for every single person in her life. Be it him, his family or her family. But she sees in him the ability of becoming the 'strong person' that her father was. The one who supports her, the one who provides shadow to her and her/his family. Ek din yeh Hoga. This entire conversation basically showed us what the final destination of our characters are.
It's about bringing back the 16 year old Meet Hooda. It is about making Meet Alhawat that strong tree that he is destined to be. It is Their journey towards Themselves and then towards Each Other.
Reasons chahay Jo bhi ho. Both Meet Alhawat and us needed to see Hooda's journey and what makes her so compassionate, so understanding and so strong. I always knew her story, but visual representation has always been more powerful. I have a different kind of respect in my heart for Hooda after Saturday's episode. Ab lagta hain she can be the strong female lead that we want to see. One of the biggest complaints that I ever had from Zgh is the male lead (Zaroon) never got to see the deep and thoughtful side of the female lead (Kashaf). She always came across as someone who is emotionally very detached, whereas she was a very deep and sensitive person. If he could ever read her diary entries, he would know how much she thinks about almost everything. Meet Hooda doesn't appear to be emotionally detached, but this constant 'superwoman like strong' facade made her almost unrelatable. Uska yeh self-sacrificing trait usse woh insaan hone ka margin cheen raha tha. Even MA thinks that MH is that 'magic lamp' who has solution to every problem. I think it was almost impossible for him to realize that there was time when even MH felt helpless and lost. But now that he knows, he will make sure that his Meet never feels the same way ever again.
P.S- I do not know future mein Kya Hoga show ka. But Saturday's episode was brilliant and these are some of the things that I noticed. Feel free to add your perspective ❤️
