Dance is the hidden language of the soul
~ Martha Graham ~
Allow me to take you back in time. A time in which the ending of the show would not even be a thought.
In fact, our journey in getting to know all about Raghav Rao had just started.
Our setting will be the place most of us have imagined about several times a day, I am sure:
The Raghav Rao bedroom, in the amazingly beautiful Raghav Rao Mansion. When we speak of aesthetics, we cannot leave out a mention of the mesmerizing scenery of this house. The blueish colors in the bedroom, which are linked to spirituality, have truly given us the feelings of a safe haven.
I must admit, my heart skips a beat or two when we are treated to scenes with Raghav Rao in the Mansion, albeit in his bedroom, the hall and on top of the stairways. What about yours? Come on.. It is safe to admit it. I swear, I won’t tell a soul!
In the initial days, we have had the pleasure to see Raghav Rao dance a couple of times:
- In the nightclub with the ladies (Anjali)
Clearly, he has no interest or passion to dance. Raghav is troubled and wants to forget about his sorrows, at least for the night. For the lost, lonely and troubled souls, the nights are always the longest.
- At the Deshmukh’s, with Pallavi at Manasi’s engagement function
Raghav sticks around when he notices his sister Keerthi. Good for us that he did. We got to see one of the first and infamous “hair smelling” scenes and the fire and passion Raghav danced with, only to impress Pallavi.
- Bharatnathyam, in the privacy of his room, sneak peeked by Pallavi
This is the scene I want to relive with you once again and break down the beauty of the vulnerable side of Raghav Rao. The setting is extremely intimate. I would like to describe his emotions seen through the eyes of us spectators, personified in Pallavi.
One of the most surprising shades of Raghav Rao was visible during his Shiva Tandava dance. Although, it was extremely brief, it did make an impact. Especially on the curious person peeping in. Watching and admiring him. Dare I say, it was in this moment that Pallavi Deshmukh actually saw him for the very first time. Not just the handsome, shrewd business savvy, rough and tough exterior of the Don of Hyderabad, to which she was unconsciously attracted too. No, no… Of course not. That would be pointing out the obvious.
Alongside with us secret spectators, Pallavi follows the drumbeats and was intrigued by this fine being dancing on the magical and spiritual rhythm of the music. What a pleasant and breathtaking sight.
It did not only look beautiful but I went to check and compare the dance movements, as I have very less knowledge about it, and these were actually on point. So.. kudos for actor Sai Ketan Rao! Back to Raghav Rao again..!
Raghav danced in honor of Lord Shiva but more so out of devotion to his mother, also his dance teacher. Generally, Lord Shiva's tandava is associated with anger. When Raghav performs the dance, it gives him a chance to somewhat go through and settle his emotions of anger, sadness and loneliness. It is therapeutic. He yearns for his mother’s acceptance and realizes he will never receive it. Still, he keeps on hoping and trying with all the fire and passion he has inside. Whatever Raghav does in life, it will always be with passion.
Yes, I dare say, it was in this moment Pallavi saw him for the very first time. She registered:
Raghav Rao: vulnerable, delicate, broken, dedicated and devoted, lonely, angry and passionate.
Shades, she never ever would have guessed existed in him. A mixture of colors she was drawn to as she could recognize it to be a part of hers too.
As the wise men say:
“To watch us dance, is to hear our hearts speak.”
“Dance is the hidden language of the soul.”
And just like that, unknowingly, in just a few minutes of dance, Raghav Rao let us in and showed us a glimpse of his soul and made us love him, fall in love with him even more and recognize parts of ourselves. Perhaps this made it even easier for us to connect to him and embrace all of him in our hearts. The good, the bad, the beautiful and not so pretty.. We have accepted him fully. He is ours and we are his. It would take Pallavi a bit more time to accept this truth, but we were all set for this journey with our popcorn and cokes.
Raghav Rao is a cocktail of emotions felt and absorbed by us all. Not just a character from some daily tv-show but (one part of) the heartbeat of MHRW. RAGHAV RAO is and will forever remain an ICON!

Singing
'Tum aa gaye ho noor aa gaya hai
Nahi to charaago se lau jaa rahi thi
Jeene ki tumse wajah mil gayi hai
Badi bewajah zindagi jaa rahi thi'
How nice it is when someone sings a song for you, especially when the song conveys that you are the reason for living life. It feels good, right?
And now imagine, that person who doesn't even know how to sing, sings for you, then?
Raghav Rao, whom Pallavi once called 'besura bhonpu', sang for her, can you imagine it? Well, you have to! Lol.
Actually it was because he wanted to pacify his wife, Pallavi, as she was super angry and hurt by his actions. Because he wanted her to go to Kolhapur to her brother. He thought that she was not happy with him and living with him against her wish. But the thing he didn't know was, she didn't wanted to leave, but he made decision without her consent, which hurt her.
He tried many ways to pacify her but nothing worked. Even Farhad's bhool bhool shayri didn't work in his favour.
And then finally Milind Kaka and Krishna gave the idea that Pallavi likes old hindi songs. But here the problem was, he didn't know how to sing and top of that he didn't even know about hindi songs as he only knows about Telugu songs.
Although it was really difficult task for him but still, he managed to manayofy her.
I must say he sang really well and what he wanted to convey through the song, he was successful in that. Finally he managed to calm Pallavi down and indirectly conveyed that she is important part of his life.
This was the first time he sang for Pallavi.
