Episode 180: Ahilya's Justice

Ahilya is sitting on the throne with a Shankar murti in her hand.

Gunoji defends Pilaji by sharing his good activities and different aspect of his life. 

Ahilya says doing few good deeds doesn't nullify his misdeeds or justify them.

Ahilya is in a dilemma. She remembers what Malharrao told her, giving an example from Shivaji Maharaj's life. 

Ahilya says that no person in Malwa can harass a woman and get away with it. She gives the verdict, to make him a  chauranga. 

Pilaji falls on her feet and pleeds forgiveness. Ahilya says tomorrow morning her verdict will be executed.

Pilaji is screaming as he is taken into the dungeons.

All the women from village show their gratitude to her. 

Seetabai tells Dwarkabai about the verdict and says it's a big problem since Gunoji isn't even looking at her. Dwarkabai assures she will talk to Malharrao about it.

She's walking out and meets Malharrao, tells him Ahilya ne saare rishte daav pe laga diye hai

On their way to court, Dhanaji and Gunoji also convince him, rishto ki duhayi di

Malharrao in the court, Pilaji brought back, another verdict soon. Malharrao asks Tukoji to brief on the proceedings, Gunoji then defends. 

Malharrao says that he has to take all aspects into account, as well as the opinions of his ministers and well wishers. He says he would change the verdict. He cancels chauranga for Pilaji held tomorrow and orders it to be done in evening itself.

Chauranga for those who are reading is when below elbow bones of hand are badly broken and below knee the bones of leg are broken. As per history, This is from a famous judgement by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to a powerful Patil who has many connections in the court in a similar situation. Ahilya recalls this from a earlier discussion with Malhar Sarkar

I love female warriors in history..

Especially in parts of Maharashtra Ahilya is prayed to liked God due to temples she built and loads of work.she did for the society in general 

She has a sad personal life but she gave a lot for society and Malhar Sarkar and Tukoji always stand by her

Indeed! She was a feminist icon and a revered lady. Hats off to women like her who inspire us even after all these years
