Just like the gigantic and enormous maximums hit by the batsmen, the IPL also witnessed bowlers rattling the stumps with their lethal yorkers , unplayable swinging deliveries, with their stupendous bowling performances, have turned the game on its head and almost single-handedly won matches for their respective teams in many IPL matches.

The Indian Premier League has seen bowlers come up with unique methods to outfox the batsmen in a batting-friendly format.

Alzarri Joseph - 2019 - 6/12

The Mumbai Indians bowler picked up 6 wickets in 3.4 overs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, giving away just 12 runs.

Sohail Tanvir - 2008 - 6/14

It was a hypnotizing spell in the inaugural season of IPL in 2008! Sohail Tanvir helped Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings with some crazy bowling on the display. He took 6 wickets in 14 balls along with 17 intermittent dot balls. He led his team to an 8-wicket victory.

Adam Zampa - 2016 - 6/19

It was only his second IPL match when Adam Zampa took 6 wickets for 19 runs. The leggie from Australia helped Rising Pune Supergiant restrict Hyderabad to 137/8 but his team lost the match eventually by 4 runs. Zampa’s performance remains the best in a losing cause.

Anil Kumble - 2009 - 5/5 ******** 👏

It was an IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals in Newlands. Anil Kumble leaped into the league of best bowling spells in the history of IPL by taking 5 wickets in 3.1 overs, giving away only 5 runs, and gliding RCB to a rocking 75-run victory.

Ishant Sharma - 2011 - 5/12

Sharma achieved his 5-wicket haul while playing for Deccan Chargers in 2011. The opponent Kochi Tuskers were derailed from their simple 130 run chase early in the game. In 3 overs, Ishant reduced the team by 5 batters, giving away only 12 runs.

Lasith Malinga - 2011- 5/13

Malinga remains the highest wicket-taker in IPL, with a record of 170 wickets in 122 matches. His economy stands at a staggering 7.14. It was against the then Delhi Daredevils that Malinga collected 5 wickets of 13 runs. He also won the ‘Purple Cap’ for a 28-wicket haul the same season.

Ankit Rajpoot - 2018 - 5/14

Rajpoot established himself as a pacer-to-watch-out-for with a match haul of 5 wickets of 14 runs. He restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to a humble 132 for 6 against Kings XI Punjab.

Ravindra Jadeja - 2012 - 5/16

It was the sixth match of IPL that year, DC vs CSK, when this otherwise orthodox bowler got his 5-wicket haul for 16 runs in 4 overs. He led his team to a huge 74-run victory over Deccan Chargers.

James Faulkner - 2013 - 5/16

The Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium watched as Faulkner dismissed 5 Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman and gave away only 16 runs in 4 overs, including 14 dot balls.

Amit Mishra - 2008 - 5/17

The leg-spinner from claimed five wickets for just 17 runs in a highly nail-biting encounter between Delhi Daredevils and Deccan Chargers in the inaugural season of IPL. Mishra helped his team to a 12-run win over the Chargers and was rightfully awarded the Man of the Match.

Jasprit Bumrah  --2020---  MUM15 Matches played 60 overs    404 runs   27 wickets --5 times 3 wickets taken

The glamour of IPL has faced some backlash in the past few years, but no talent goes unnoticed. All of these bowlers have impressed the world with their sheer grit and bowling skills, giving us some of the best bowling spells in IPL.
