A Case can also be made why is any fan obsessed if their fav wins some award or gets a top review. They should simply enjoy the films

Stupid analogy. Aise toh many things directly dont affect us. Why do we go crazy supporting our fav sports teams or players ?? Do we get share of their match fee or anything ??

Totally agree. That's why I find OTT fandoms and their fights over actors and box office clubs a little silly.😆

Sports fans are the same way. I may be biased cuz I find the whole spectator sports thing silly too but each to their own.😛

People get so invested in this box office and fanclubs because it allows them to escape from the stresses of their lives. Drugs, alcohol, video games etc can also be escapist outlets. Real life is not very exciting for most people.

Because the winning or losing of a match does not affect the position of the player as much as failure of a film does to an actor every friday. One flop and you are written off. One hit and you are praised to the skies like the next Meryl Streep. Also sports and films are completely different. The analogy was only based on how films coming to OTT are finally going to equalize showbiz and break the star system since there are no BO numbers involved. Public these days write off a film and the hardwork of hundreds just on the basis of the opening box office numbers and that's where his analogy is valid, to me atleast. We are not getting share of the profits, nor are we investing anything, ulta we are actually paying money to buy tickets so why judge the film on box office and not the content and performance?

This just shows how commercialised every thing has become in life. Quantity is prioritised over quality everywhere. Kinda sad IMO.

True till you enjoy both it's fine but that's not what happens right? People are obsessed with others failure and use BO to pull down films and actors and that's pretty unfair.
