Kerala* govt is doing a splendid job, not Indian govt. The fact that she could avoid testing from a high profile place like international arrivals goes to show how poor the govt is at even screening passengers. If she was indeed tested at the airport and was undetected, again it shows the shoddy nature of the testing.

Kanika only deserves blame for not isolating herself. Rest of the blame is on the govt.

And? What is the point? Not give the package? This is the need of the hour. Whats so wrong about the relief package? Every state should have done this by now. People are panicking, they dont know where their next meal will come from,people are losing their livelihood. This is a great move and will remain so. The utter lack of financial planning or taking care of the people and their families well being coming from the other states is appalling.

I am Malayali (at least by blood) and the thing is, it’s not about the package. Maybe it’s just PR. At the end of the day, what matters is the people. Why should it come down the imposing curfews and emergencies? Are people not even concerned about their own health, let alone their elderly parents etc?

When it was the three students, the isolation worked because the children were smart enough. When people started running around, leaving wards, not reporting to the authorities, that is when things started to spiral. No government can be held responsible for the stupidities of the common man. I heard Sonam Kapoor is in self quarantine, so is the actor who used to play Rosesh Sarabhai, without symptoms. Because they know their responsibility as normal adults. When people go out of their way to avoid screening or run away from wards, how is it the government’s fault?

Secondly, do you know what screening is? Open a Community Medicine book and read about it. The sensitivity and specificity of almost all tests is hard to be perfect. Which is why in case you show no symptoms, they ask you to be in self quarantine, till the incubation period ends.

I’m not a right wing supporter by a long shot, but the fact remains that not everything can be piled upon the government. Maybe it is doing the bare minimum. But even so, does that excuse you from your civic responsibility?

Thirdly, we can learn certain things from Singapore or Canada, but equating them to our country is a logical fallacy. They are different in all aspects.
Being a doctor, it’s hard to believe that we are putting our lives in jeopardy for people who have no importance for anyone’s life. No amount of parties or apparent bad conditions of isolation wards is an excuse for putting the lives of millions of innocent people at stake.

Also, maybe the government has steps in store. Maybe it doesn’t. I am not going to comment on that. But this should be the last moment when we should be throwing dog shit at other political parties. Like Rahul Gandhi was doing. Okay, yes the economy is failing and we have no steps. Does he? Give productive criticism, not just blank criticism. False equivalency with other countries or states is useless at the moment. We have to save lives. Not fight for our ideology. Now is not the time.

Aaj se hi many households got their ration delivered at their doorstep free of cost. So state toh kar raha hain. And paise agar mange toh bhi kya? I want the other states to ask for money too. Kuch toh karo. Kuch logonko toh khana milega. Corruption mein 100 percent se agar 60 percent bhi chala jaye, still the 40 percent will help people. Kuch toh kar rahe hain. Bakio ki tarah nahi,haath pe haath rakhe baithe hain while everything shuts down.

I'm not saying India has to do something on par with Canada and Singapore - just look at the initiative they are showing and where we are. Just look at Kerala, they have just 2.5% of the population but have done 30% of the testing. At least the rest of India can definitely aspire to be like Kerala right? Or do you have more excuses?
