Juhi Chawla says instead of criticising the government, people should reflect on their own conduct

Well we are talking about hypocrisy adopted by CAA. Supporters and opponents from Bollywood here.

If someone opposes CAA , those are hailed as heroes , brave warrior, progressive and what not.

But if someone supports CAA. They automatically become dumb, sucking upto BJP, mentally bankrupt.

That’s the point if u get it.

The recent uproar over the Government’s efforts to push the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the nationwide protests it has spawned has had an impact on Bollywood too. Many actors and filmmakers have openly condemned the violence against students, and in fact, the CAA too. More, however, have remained conspicuously silent.

Word on the street is that the matter has divided film folk. While some filmwaalas have come to the defence of leading superstars, suggesting that they are extremely vulnerable, so many others have called them out for not lending their voice at a time when it could carry significant weight.

Turns out though that not all are staying silent behind their high walls. One superstar has reportedly extended financial help to cover legal fees of those that were wrongly detained during the protests in Delhi. Another superstar’s famously vocal father is apparently mobilising friends to speak out, even though his own family cannot for complicated reasons.

The general opinion is that when the dust settles on the matter, it could leave many old relationships fragile and possibly broken. Respected film personalities who have taken an unambiguous stand are openly criticising an A-list male star whose closeness to the ruling party “has made him spineless”. They have been critical also of a powerful producer who is keeping his head down.

One top film personality may have lost at least a few friends for his unwillingness to show support or even acknowledge that recent events have divided his industry. Liberal voices in Bollywood are repeating over and over again that it is at times like these that one’s true character is revealed. Those trying to stay invisible hoping that it will blow over soon have been noticed

This can't be Akshay. Wouldn't they call him a superstar too even though he's a second-stringer?

Not only that, he's not spineless. Spineless means that you believe in something but can't stand up for it because you are scared. Akshay is an opportunist bhakt who is making his movies work by sucking up to the right wing in spite of being a Canadian.

Akshay does not care about the student cause. He is on the government's side.

This is most likely Ranveer. A-list, probably supports the same thing as Deepika, but knows it's not smart to speak up. He needs to keep on hugging Modi to keep himself and his wife safe.

Uff this is so obvious and I cant comment about Akshay but the way Khans are treated after they open their mouth is highly disgusting and unsafe for them and their families. Im glad they are not vocal but if behind the scenes they are making efforts then thats good. Also I believe actions speak louder than words.

This blind is by Masand.  It’s up to his mood and discretion whether Akshay is superstar or not.  But this is definitely about Akshay.  The part about being close to the ruling party only fits him.  He’s being called spineless because he’s not saying anything and not taking a stand one way or the other, and it’s glaring because he has not shied away from supporting Modi before.  So yea I understand why there’s a bigger expectations from him to take a stand. Either express your opinion if you think nothing is wrong with these citizenship policies, or stand up to your friends in the government and call a spade a spade.

I realized something. Juhi's family is originally from Pakistan. Perhaps someone should tell her to return? #sarc. As though her right to be called Indian is somehow greater than that of the muslims in the country.

Maybe stars are keeping quite because they don't wanna loose their "show off fake woke, wannabe liberal" fanbase, and not showing their support for the government.

Hamesha ek hi type ki soch kiyu rakhna.

Aur Masand lodu, saale ek Venga ko handle nahi kar paya aur roundtables mai avoid kiya, aur superstars ke character ko question kar raha hai gyanchod.

Kya jabarjasti hai. Ki sabko bolna padega. Are nai bolna.

Aur yeh kya.. Protestors ka sath do toh aap sahi warna spineless. Utter crap.

Violence is being investigated by CBI. Why jump into sides before knowing the actual truth? Let law take its course.
