Bollywood playback singer Papon Angaraag refused to perform in a concert to be held in the capital amidst the news of riots and protests happening in Assam. According to the singer, he hasn't been feeling like entertaining and performing knowing that his hometown Assam is in chaos.

In a series of tweets, he expressed his sorrow, along with an apology for his fans who had been eagerly waiting for the concert. "I know this is unfair on you as you had bought tickets and planned long ahead. I am sure the organizers will take care of that in some way and as promised I'll see you all on another day in future! I hope you will understand," he added."It's painful to see the way Assam is burning! Humanity is suffering! Assam has been burdened with illegal immigration for decades! We don't deserve this! The diverse, complex mix of the Assamese culture & people and their existence needs to be understood! We need to be heard properly". There has been a widespread protest happening in the state of Assam following the clearance of the Citizenship Amendment Bill in parliament, also known as CAB. Other celebrities, including Sayani Gupta, Swara Bhaskar, Adil Hussain, also tweeted on Thursday against the bill passed by the BJP government.
