NEW DELHI:

HIGHLIGHTS

  1. Filming completed before allegations against Alok Nath surfaced: Ajay
  2. De De Pyaar De also stars Tabu and Rakul Preet
  3. The Luv Ranjan-produced film releases on May 17

Actor Ajay Devgn's new film De De Pyaar Dealso features actor Alok Nath, who was named and shamed in India's #MeToo movement last year. Speaking of Alok Nath's casting in the project, actor Ajay Devgn said during the launch of the film's trailer today, "This is not the right place to talk about it. And jinki aap baat kar rahe hai woh film uske pehle complete hui (the film was completed before the allegations surfaced against the concerned person)," reported news agency PTI. Tara writer Vinta Nanda first recounted her harrowing account of rape, in which she implicated Alok Nath, in October 2018. A major chunk of De De Pyaar De completed in the first half of 2018.

Several Twitter users were not convinced with Ajay Devgn's reply and said that the team "could have given him the boot post the allegations."

Shamini.M.R@Not_A_Shammer

Shame on @ajaydevgn for defending Alok Nath. They could have given him the boot post the allegations & FIR. I hate when celebs say "this is not the right platform to discuss". Issues such as this deserved to be discussed on every platform. #DeDePyaarDeTrailer @IndiaMeToo

 Wishing Star @KaNazron

I don't care if Alok Nath was the main character in the movie. Makers should have re-casted. Ajay Devgan has a daughter & wife...working with a rapist.

Dr.Nitin Rathod@SRKnitin_rathod

@IndiaMeToo I'm not gonna watch #DeDePyaarDe until Alok Nath gets kicked from the movie...not even on tv.
If @ajaydevgn is a responsible actor, he should be the one to do it. Sadly this industry does only show off abt respecting women. Fake people !!

When news agency IANS reached out to Alok Nath, he said: "I don't want to talk anything about De De Pyaar De."

Here, it is worth noting that Hollywood director Ridley Scott had set an example by replacing MeToo-accused actor Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer in his movie All The Money In The World just weeks before the film's release in 2017. Ridley Scott re-filmed chunks of the movie with Christopher Plummer, who also received an Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category.

Close to home, actor Nana Patekar and director Sajid Khan were shown the door (albeit after a short delay) after #MeToo stories piled up against them. Tanushree Dutta reopened a decade-old controversy by bringing her allegations of sexual harassment against actor Nana Patekar to the forefront while several female artistes and journalists outed Sajid Khan as a sexual predator.

Several Bollywood bigwigs including Aamir Khan have pledged to sever professional ties with those named in #MeToo accounts. Last year, Aamir Khan issued a statement saying his company had a "zero-tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct and predatory behaviour of any kind."

Meanwhile, De De Pyaar De also stars Tabu, Rakul Preet and Jimmy Sheirgill. It is directed by Akiv Ali and produced by Luv Ranjan. The film is slated to open in cinemas on May 17.

Just yesterday, filmmaker Sajid Khan was accused of sexual harassment and now it's Luv Ranjan. An actress has spoken up about her ordeal and shared an incident when she was asked to audition for a Luv Ranjan film. She said that she was asked by the director if she masturbates. She added that she had to walk out as she was left uncomfortable.
According to a report, the actress recalled that the incident happened in 2010. She was called by Vicky Sidana, a casting director, who said that the auditions for 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' were on. The dress code was a short skirt and a tight top, which the actress said was fairly common, and wasn't a problem with her. There were seven to eight girls there, and they weren't given any dialogues as they would usually ask actors to enact the scene. The actress assumed it was only a look test.

She opened up on how was she was made uncomfortable in the bikini test. The actress described how the director Luv Ranjan, and the cinematographer were sitting in a room and calling the girls in one by one. The girl who went in before her came out with an ashen look and seemed uncomfortable. Followed by a brief introduction, Luv Ranjan told her there was a kissing scene and bikini scene in the movie and asked if she was fine with that, to which she responded affirmatively. The director said he wanted to see what she would look like in a bikini, contrary to other bikini tests that the actress gave later in life, there was a female stylist who gave her a bikini to do the look test in the presence of lots of people.

The worst was yet to come, the director then asked her to strip down to her panties. She shared that Luv asked her to strip down to her bra and panties. He said he wanted to see her body so he could check if she needed to lose weight. The director apparently told her that they were not recording anything and the cinematographer would also leave the room.

Luv Ranjan even went on to ask her if she was a virgin or not and inappropriate questions like if she used condoms or if she masturbates. The 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' director told her this was because an actor needs to draw from their experiences and when they can't, he must know her so well, that he can help her. He asked her about her schooling and family, which made the actress feel relaxed. Then he asked her if she had a boyfriend, to which she said yes. Then he asked if she were a virgin, which led to the actress being shocked. The actress revealed that Luv further said that it's okay to talk like this since they are adults.

The actress said that he further asked her if she used condoms. The last straw was him asking her if she masturbates. By then, the actress was scared and asked if she could leave, to which Luv reportedly said that she shouldn't misunderstand him, and called the rest of the men from the audition team into the room and asked them if they trust him enough as a director, would they drop their pants if he asked them to do so.

Post all this, the actress said that she moved abroad and settled down overseas. She added that this incident stayed with her all these years. However, the director denied all such accusations by calling them absurd and he is willing to face any legitimate inquiry.

I agree that Alok Nath had shot before these allegations have come out but now that he knows that he is a offender and accused in #metoo by several women. Shouldn't he at least now talk and condemn Alok Nath.
This applies even to Tabu and Rakul

    what do you think

The makers Luv Ranjan and Bhushan Kumar are also metoo accused. So not surprised that Alok Nath is part of the film.

so that's it, all the accused stroll back right into their lives and continue getting movies while the women have to hide their identities and remain hidden or vanish into oblivion.
    Man that's a sad state

pretty sure Nana patekar, Sajid Khan will come back like nothings happened and life goes on

Exactly I heard he is already doing another movie , why is no one condemning him when its no open secret that he is a habitual offender with so many prominent women have spoken about it.

Tomorrow Sajid Khan will walk right back and no one would care and mingle with him like before.

while the women have to be anonymous with their lives and career in jeopardy

Forumwasis are fully supportive of Ajay Devgn and all his movies so they will turn a blind eye and deaf ear towards so many MeToo accusers associated with this movie.
Producer, writer, actor all are MeToo accuseds but no outrage will be witnessed here abt that. In fact people here mostly enjoyed the incredibly pukeworthy, sexist/ageist trailer with very few mentioning the 3 accuseds
