Samaina TS : Wake Up Sameer

Loosely based on the movie Wake Up Sid :P
The idea is that Naina and Sameer don't know each other from before, they weren't in the same school, they will  meet in college and Sameer is one year her senior. :) Rest you will know as you read on!

The sun rays shone bright and fast on everyone that day in the beautiful city of Ahmedabad. The people were busy in their daily chores, the men of the Maheshwari family were all set to go to the office while the women cooked for them and made sure all the essentials were packed right, however the prince of the family was fast asleep, he was not to be disturbed.

Suddenly his closed eyes scrunched due to the sunlight forcing them to flutter open. Along with it a heavy voice broke his slumber, "Sameer!!"

The handsome prince turned and twisted in his bed, not quite ready to get up so soon, he felt his hair being stroked by the person now. He immediately relaxed! He loved waking up like this, he held the hand close to himself not ready to let go.

"Sameer mere bachhe. Chal uth ja! Aaj tere final year ka result hai na. Jaldi uth ja chal." The voice spoke making him frown.

"Nahi na Nanuu! Mann nahi hai." He mumbled to Mr. Jai Prakash Maheshwari, his Nanu, his jaan. He heard footsteps going away and sighed in relief almost getting up before his breath stuck in his throat.

His Nanu was still standing there with a crooked smile and whispered, "Ullu kya sirf tu bana sakta hai?"

He approached Sameer carefully and sat down beside him, stroking his hair he said with a clarity in his voice, "Dekh mera guroor hai tu. Aise aalsi nahi banna hai, ja college se paas hokar aa, phir party karenge aur uske baad tu mera sara kaam sambhalega. Hai ki nahi?"

The pride in his Nanu's voice made Sameer want to succumb and say yes but he wasn't interested in giving up his lifestyle, this carefree life, doing nothing, enjoying his days, he wasn't ready to give it all up.

As if reading his mind his Nanu spoke, "Mere jaane ke baad Maheshwari industries tujhe hi toh sambhalni hai mere bachee." Sameer's eyes widened and he sat with a pouty face as if telling his Nanu he wasn't going to talk to him now.

Just then Munna-Pandit entered and diverted everyone's attention asking Sameer to get ready as it was the day of their results and they were getting late. Sameer took his Nanu's Blessings after getting ready and left for college in his car.

Meanwhile in college, a girl was running faster than P.T Usha shouting, "Naina Naina Naina!!!" Preeti shook her hard as she finally approached her. Sometimes Naina didn't understand what live wire was inside Preeti, she was always so enthusiastic and full of life. Her sister was completely her opposite but they both couldn't live without each other.

She stopped Preeti and could hear her panting, asking her to calm down she questioned, "Kya ho gaya Preeti?" Preeti dragged her along with her to the notice board and made her look at her name at the top of the list. She glanced once at Preeti and then back towards the list.

"Tune phir se top kara hai meri behen!" Preeti chimed, her eyes sparkling with pride and hugged her sister in happiness. A while later when Naina calmed down she asked, "Aur tune?"

Preeti broke the hug and shrugged, "Main pass ho gayi wahi bahut hai." Both burst out laughing, equally happy at the day's events. Naina will now be in final year, she had always wanted to be a businesswoman. She knew in the late 1990s, this was a weird choice of career especially for a woman but she wasn't going to give up on her dreams, it was all she had desired, until she met him that day.

Sameer came behind his friends, not really interested in the results. He frankly didn't care about them. That's when he saw a girl being congratulated by a bunch of people. He could hear whispers like, "University topper", "Big dreams", "Third year". He understood she was a year junior to him, he didn't know why but he wanted to steal a glance at her.

That's when Munna called out to him asking to hand out his roll no. He made his way amongst the crowd and read it out to Munna, for once maybe he too wanted that appreciation for himself in someone's eyes that the girl was receiving. So he looked carefully at his results but all his hopes died down as he read the final result - "F".

Sameer Maheshwari had failed the final year! He didn't know what next, he asked Munna and Pandit how they fared and both of them had passed in the second division, a fairly good score for them. He trotted backwards, more ashamed than ever, suddenly he felt very lonely. It felt as if his friends were leaving, his Nanu would be so disappointed and he didn't want to join his Nanu's company too, was he good for nothing?

He collided with a girl in the process and her essentials spluttered on the floor as her bag flew open,he bent down and absent mindedly started throwing the things back in. He didn't look up at her but then he saw a Ganesha ji Idol in his hand, he stared at it for a long moment wishing it would give him some strength in this tough time but it wasn't his to keep. As he went forward to keep it back in, a hand stopped him.

Finally he looked up, tears sprung to his eyes without his realization and as he looked into those pair of eyes, the innocence in them blew him away. She was equally concerned for him, if it were possible. Her eyes held neither pity nor sympathy for him, they held a sense of compassion, a belief as if they said to him it would all be fine.

His eyes travelled to her hands, those hands that were moulded into his now. He looked back up at her and she mumbled, "Ise tum rakhlo. Shakti denge tumhe." A small smile adorned her lips now and he couldn't help but smile in return despite the situation, it was as if her happiness was contagious.

He nodded at her, got up and started to move away but he had this sudden urge to look back at her and as he turned their eyes latched together. She assured him all would be okay and he believed.

Next few days were tough for Sameer, Nanu wasn't talking to him and he didn't like it one bit. He knew failing the exams was a big deal but what hurt Nanu more was that Sameer wouldn't join his company.

Sameer was not at all ready to go back to the same college as everyone knew him. What would they think of him now? He was a useless boy and he would eventually fail this year too, what was the point of repeating an year but again he didn't have the guts and will power to disappoint his Nanu again.

The day when the college's new session had to start he deliberately woke up late so that till then everyone would have left for office and he won't have to see their faces but luck didn't favour him, Nanu stood there at his door with a rigid look.

Sameer didn't knew how or when but tears welled up in his eyes, the only person close to him was behaving this way with him and it was hurting him a lot. He saw Nanu approach him slowly and his head was bowed down of its own accord.

"Sameer! Apni maa ke saamne mujhe chota mat dikha. Main samjhta hun tu business mein shayad interested nahi hai, har kisi ka ek junoon hota hai, passion hota hai. Please use dhund le!" He spoke with a finality in his voice and left with a small smile.

As he reached college, various thoughts ran in Sameer's mind, what was Nanu talking about his passion? Was his passion sports or business or maybe sleeping? Sameer reprimanded himself for not being serious but even if he tried a lot he didn't really work towards anything, he was aimless.

He stepped inside the classroom, even after knowing he was late and that's when he found an aim in life quite unknowingly and in the weirdest of ways.

"Aaiye aaiye Sameer Maheshwari! Aapke Nana ji ka college hai toh Park hi samjh liya hai. Walk par aaye hain?" The teacher howled at the top of his voice, sarcasm dripping from his tone.

Sameer's eyes however were now fixed on the girl who sat alone at the front desk scribbling hard not caring about his presence or the drama the class was witnessing, he was definitely drawn to the girl. Maybe he found his passion, as he thought this his eyes lit up and a smile made way to his lips.

As if connected by some divine power, Naina finally glanced towards the door, his smile being the lock to her heart and her heart fluttered seeing the same boy there. She had dreamt of him after that fateful day a lot of times but never in her wildest dreams had she thought he would be standing in her classroom, smiling down at her, late to the first class!

His smile made her want to smile back too but before she could do that the teacher's rough voice rasped through her ears, "Sameer!! Naina ko dekh kar kya has rahe ho? Woh iss college ki hi nahi balki iss University ki bhi topper hai. Seekho kuch isse."

Sameer smirked his crooked grin making way to his face now, he would love to learn a lot of things from her indeed. He giggled inwardly, after a span of time he had felt so light and happy. She had a magic in her and her magic was working on Sameer.

"Par Sir zaruri toh nahi ki har koi padhai mein hi tez ho. Koi sports mein awwal ho sakta hai toh koi likhne mein?" Naina questioned not liking one bit that her Sameer was being degraded in everyone's eyes. If it would have been anyone else she would have thought very low of him for failing an year but this was Sameer.

The shocked expression on the teacher's face was mirrored by everyone including Sameer, but his face held a grateful smile too. If anyone would have told him he was capable of falling for the teacher's pet or more so the University topper he would have slapped him.

Upon Naina's remark, no one spoke a word and Sameer quietly sneaked into the class making sure not to disturb anyone now. His heart asked him to sit beside her but he wanted her approval. He coughed twice staring straight into her eyes, hoping she would understand his signal.

When she raised her eyebrows at him, he coughed again this time winking at her as if asking her if it was alright if he sat with her? She coughed back two times nodding her head more than willing for him to sit across her.

The first few minutes of the class were spent with Naina blushing and Sameer adoring her blush, he was certain they had met for some reason, maybe she would help him find his calling.

Naina was engrossed in noting down the important points Sharma teacher wrote when a chit of paper came upon her notebook, she looked sideways and found Sameer whistling happily. She shook her head in disbelief and opened it.

It read - "Naina, friends?" She wondered how he knew her name but then realized the teacher had indirectly told that to him.

She started to write the reply when she felt him peeping into the paper. She spared a glance towards the teacher and when she was certain he was facing the blackboard she nudged Sameer and frantically shook her head asking him not to cheat!

He smirked, this girl was seriously something else. But then the chit came towards his side and he picked it up. It said - "Sure Sameer."

The bell rang indicating the class was over and it was time for the next class. Sameer didn't know how to initiate a conversation with her even when he badly wanted to start one.

"Waise Sameer! Ek baat puchun? Tum actually padhai mein interested toh nahi lagte. Toh tumhara passion kya hai?" He heard Naina ask him and this was the first time he actually wanted to answer something worthwhile.

All his life Sameer Maheshwari had been known by his Nanu's name or his family's name but in front of Naina he wanted her to know him because of his own name.

Aayu , the title πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘...
The best way to make your dreams come true is to Wake Up βοΈβοΈ

I adore you baby for the plot, that aspect of Sameer's life that was long forgotten because Passion is the considered to be the oxygen of the soul.It is a term that is priceless but often ignored by many in their own lives.

I could relate to the character of Sameer: much pampered, loved, lazy, carefree kid who lives his life on his own terms under the shadow of his Nanu who all through his life had to worry about anything. Never did he think about his future nor about his dreams. Then there is Naina, a girl full of passion, who has her dreams etched in every breathe of hers, in her soul. And when they met, the circumstance itself turned weird: she bundled in happiness on realizing herself closer to her dreams and he in agony of having lost it again. But then there is destiny, fate that clearly had its plans to bring them together and he feeling the warmth and peace with just a glance and smile of hers.

When they met again even the awkward situation turned blissful, you have described it so beautifully Aayu that I really could see the change in emotions in him: from being disheartened by the teacher's jibe to feeling blessed when she spoke in favor of him to his blushing while they sat together to his smirk while peeping into the chit to his elation when she accepted the friendship. Most importantly I sensed him searching for his passion, his soul for the first time in his life and I am damn sure he is in his pursuit of chasing his Passion β€οΈ

You have nailed it my love...Take a bow πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
