in the film industry, the actresses don't get
paid as much as the actors get. Several
actresses have raised their voice against this
difference in pay and demanded equal fees.
However, even after the topic being
discussed openly, there seems to be no
change in the way actors and actresses are
paid in Bollywood.
As reported by IANS, at an event recently,
Kajol spoke about the pay disparity. The
actress said, "I think that issue (pay
disparity) has to do with box office
collections to a big extent and there is
gender issue for sure, but if you see, no
single actress film can do Rs. 500 crore
business the way a Salman Khan film does at
the box office. Actresses over the years have
been an integral part in the success of a film,
but after all, it's a business."
The Fanaa actor further agreed that there is
gender discrimination in the film industry
and stated that the pay structure has to
change.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kajol will be
next seen in Helicopter Eela in which she will
be seen as a single mother. Directed by
Pradeep Sarkar, the film also stars Riddhi
Sen as Kajol's son. Helicopter Eela is
produced by Ajay Devgn and it is slated to
release on October 12, 2018. After a gap of
3 years, Kajol will be seen in a Hindi film.
