In a shocking incident, veteran actress
Deepti Naval has been a victim of
cybercrime. The Chashme Buddoor
actress has filed a complaint with the
Versova police after she received an e-mail
on Tuesday which contained her username
and password. The hackers have reportedly
demanded a ransom of $5,600 in bitcoin
which is nearly Rs 3.9 lakh. She was asked to
arrange the money within 24 hours. The
person who had sent the mail also claimed
to have videos of the actor browsing certain
websites. She was said that if she fails to
pay the amount then her browsing history
would be made public.
Talking to the Times of India, Deepti said
that she has been told by the police that it
was a trash mail and that she should ignore
it. Balsingh Rajput of the Mumbai Cyber
Crime Cell has said that similar e-mails are
being received by many other users these
days. He said that he has received calls from
more than ten people in the last few days
who have similar complaints. But this isn't
the first time that a Bollywood personality
has been subjected to cybercrime.
A few days ago, Saif Ali Khan's son Ibrahim
Ali Khan's Instagram handle was hacked and
it was announced from his account that Saif
has joined the social media platform. Early
this year even Abhishek Bachchan's twitter
account was hacked twice by Pro-Pak-
Turkish Army. He even acknowledged the
same after he got back his account.
Yes, yes my account got hacked. Quite
chuffed that they thought me
interesting enough actually . All sorted
out now and back to normal. Well...
As normal as it can get.
Thank you for your concern.
