Vikas Bhalla will make an entry in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin today.
He will play the character of CJ Oberoi. Incidentally, Vikas was
initially approached by Tony Singh (Jassi's producer) to play the
role of Purab (played by Samir Soni) when they were recasting for
this character. But Vikas wasn't too glad about that. "I prefer it
this way. CJ is a friend of Purab who was an important character in
the series and has come to take over from where Purab left."
Explaining why Vikas doesn't like the idea of replacements in
ongoing serials, he says, "I feel over a period of time the audience
connects with a particular face who's been portraying that
character, and by replacing that actor, the identification of that
particular character by the audience gets diluted. That's because
every actor makes his own individualistic contribution to the
character's development, which is very vital to the serial."
But where does Vikas see himself fitting in this serial
considering Jassi... is a woman-oriented show and there are already
other heavyweights like Parmeet Sethi and Apoorva Agnihotri? "I
agree that Jassi... is Jassi's story, but obviously CJ plays a very
important part in that story otherwise I wouldn't have agreed do it
in the first place."
CJ, apparently, is a rich successful flamboyant NRI. He's a
hopeless romantic and a shameless flirt– a sort of a young Richard
Branson, who's come to India with an agenda — to create havoc in
Armaan and Jassi's relationship, not realising that in the bargain
he develops feelings for Jassi and ends up becoming a strong support-
system for her.
