Priyanka, who was in the US on August 15, wore a tricolour dupatta with her T-shirt in the video - this has been received with disfavour by a section of her Instagram followers who accused her of disrespecting the flag, told her she should have worn more traditional clothing, and suggested she remain in the US instead of coming home.

"Please don't return to India again," Priyanka Chopra was told in the comments. "Don't you have a salwar-kameez for this occasion?" asked one follower. How about a sari, said another - "At least on this auspicious day, you were expected in a sari." Priyanka is currently Mumbai-bound, as she revealed in a new Instagram post.

On August 15, Priyanka Chopra shared the video with tags like "MyHeartBelongsToIndia" and "JaiHind." Trolls responded with comments like: "What nonsense. National flag, have certain respect" and "This is not your dupatta stupid, show some respect." As always, the more sensible of Priyanka's fans have taken up cudgels on behalf of the actress while a response is awaited (or not) in typical Priyanka Chopra fashion.

Gawd these internet psychos !! People have some messed up sentiments about country and patriotism. 🤢 I have seen in other countries people have national flag marked sleepers, undies and towels and they are proud of their respective countries (Canada/USA/UK). But put an Indian flag design on a sleeper, these internet patriots will be after your life for disrespecting the country when they are not ashamed of harrassing other Indians online.

Only if people understood that giving 'respect' to National Flag means nothing when one disrespects its citizens for practising democracy and harrasses them in public for nothing. They are the ones breaking multiple democratic laws and live in a delusion that they are the only patriots alive in the country 👎🏼

The people screaming in social media seem to have a very warped sense of patriotism .
I wish they would go in the army and defend instead of indulging in such bullying and harassing.

That's a beautiful pic.👍🏼
I'm proud of our National flag as well... but I don't understand this excessive hoopla if someone wears a tricolor dress or accessories. 😕

The only place I would find a flag offensive is on slippers or footwear where a person might put a flag below his feet... otherwise I would love to wear a t-shirt or shirt with our national flag without the fear of someone taking offense on a supposed disrespect of the flag. 😳

Sorry but I never got this importance of symbols.
Tri-color wala cake mat katna, Don't put your foot near flag. And blah blah blah.

All these unnecessary obsession with flags, symbols and emblems are the reason why world is such a f**ked up place.

She wore tri-color as a dupatta... Even in Indian symbolism, dupatta has been associated with decency and modesty...
I would have understood all the hullabaloo if she had worn it in any form as inner-wear. But so much brouhaha over a tri-color dupatta???

This is called "Much ado about nothing"...

There's nothing remotely offensive about her picture. These self-righteous assholes screaming all over IG are the same ones who litter, eve-tease & pee on the roads. Go get a job or something.
