Mukhiji looked helplessly at the sleeping beauty beside him. She had a habit of teasing him when awake, and now she had started doing that even in her sleep!
"Daffor! Kehty hai ke mien nahi phislun gy aur dekh...isko pata bhi nahi chal raha ke yeh mere kitne qareeb agayee hai! He murmured to himself.
He was feeling a little irritated and slightly amused at the same time. Today she had forcefully come back to Amboli with him. True that her actions gave him immense pleasure, yet the thought of her leaving behind her dreams was a little depressing for him. But he had complied to her wishes because he himself could not imagine living far from her anymore.
They had been warmly welcomed by everyone, and there too Aru and her teasing antics had known no boundaries! For Heaven's sake, she had held his hand in such a tight grip, that too in front of all his family. He could not do anything except shake his head and face palm in his mind! Then they had a banter over their bed and Aru had very confidently claimed that she won't come near him in sleep. And only one hour later, she not only kicked him in his groin twice, disturbed his sleep with her arms around him in the most unladylike fashion, but now she had come so close that Mukhiji could not help but feel the urge to touch her, be more near to her, admire her like a man admires a woman.
Par Aru to Aru hai! When he was lost in her beauty, basking in her warmth and closeness, she kicked him in his sides and made him fall down!! He was caught so off-guard that he hit his elbow to the hard floor and yelped in pain. But that sleeping beauty didn't even stir at his yelp.
Mukhiji could not stop himself from feeling like shaking her up. But being the nice guy he was, he tolerated that with a sigh and decided to sleep on the floor rather than trying to crawl back in his own bed which was now occupied by that whirlwind!
In the morning, when she woke up and learnt from an irritated Mukhiji about what she had done and how he landed on the floor, she was inwardly embarrassed but outwardly she chose to deny him completely. Typical Aru! "Daffor na ho tou!, thought Mukhiji with an irate sigh.
"Mukhiji aapko sona hi nahi aata sahi se. Sara qasoor apka hai! cried Aru.
Mukhiji thought of letting go of the entire matter, but Aru evoked playful and younger feelings in him. So he decided to take revenge from her. He made a plan and decided to teach his never complying and always defying Mukhiyani ji a sweet lesson.
All day he stayed normal with her and they exchanged their usual sweet banters. At dinner time, he added some chillies in her food, which resulted in her drinking a lot of water to cool off the sting of those chillies. When they went to bed, after a while, she had the urge to pee. But thanks to the village system. The toilet was outside the house. She woke Mukhiji and requested him to come with her as she was afraid of the darkness outside. Mukhiji was waiting for this moment to come.
With an inner glee, he said, "Haan haan, kyun nahi Gaurani! Teri hifazat meri zimmedari hai. Mien tere sath zarur chalun ga!.
Aru thanked him for being such an amazingly sweet husband and went to the toilet with him. She called from inside, Mukhiji, aap ho na baahir? Jaana nahi please.
He replied in a very caring voice, "Haan haan Gaurani...mien yahin hun. Tu aram se ker le jo kerne aayi hai .
Now it was the time to act on his plan. He brought Chhammo there and said in her ears, Aye mery chhammo, sunn...Aru ko darana hai. Aur woh tere se darrti hai. Tou bass woh jaise hi bathroom se niklay,tu aik damm uske samnay aa jana!
Chhammo loved to play with Aru and the more she used to get scared of her, the more Chhammo used to enjoy. Now getting direct orders to scare Aru from the High command was the ultimate playtime for Chhammo. So she went near the toilet door, and as soon as Aru stepped out, she came right in front of her! That made Aru scream loudly, and she frantically started calling, Mukhiji...Mukhiji...dekho Chhammo mujhe tanng ker rahy hai..Kahan ho aap. Jaldi aao na! Mukhijiii.
Mukhiji was hiding behind the haystack and he had worn a white cloth all over him,giving him a very ghost like appearance. When Aru started running for her life from Chhammo, he came in front of her from behind the haystack! She shrieked, seeing the ghost in front of her and Chhammo behind her!
That's when Mukhiji started laughing. He dropped the cloth and seeing Aru's expressions, he held his stomach and doubled over. For a second Aru did not understand what had happened, but then she recalled Chhammo's presence behind her and she ran towards a laughing Mukhiji and collided with him. He held her, stabilized her. She was still scared and was trying to hide her face in the crook of his neck.
He patted her back, held her closely and protectively and then very tenderly said, "Aye Gaurani, yeh mien hun. Chhammo kuch nahi kahay gy tujhe. Tu darr matt. Mien bass tere sath mazak ker raha tha. Woh kia hai na, tujhe thora sa tanng ker raha tha kyunki tu ne kal mujhe buht tanng kia tha raat mien.
Having said that, he caressed her face. Her eyes were still tightly shut and lips were trembling. His caress brought her back to the reality and suddenly the feeling of his arms around her and his proximity hit her senses. She opened her eyes and relief washed over her. There was no ghost after all and Chhammo would not dare to do anything to her when her Mukhiji was with her. She started to smile a little but then his words hit home.
"WHATTT!!! You were trying to take revenge from me! You dukhi mukhi...you nasty beast! She started hitting his chest. "You even brought Chhammo here when you know she scares me! She hit some more.
Mukhiji burst into laughter once again. He held her hands and still laughingly, brought her closer and hugged her. "Gaurani, mazak chhe. Par sab ko dara ker rakhne wali Aru khud Chhammo se darti hai! Aur bhoot tera kia bigaar sakte hain??
And then he laughed some more. This time Aru could not control her smile and to hide it from him, she hid her face in his chest. He sighed in relief and happiness, stroking her back. They stood there, perfectly content and totally at peace in each other's arms for a few minutes. But then Aru recalled that he said that she had disturbed him last night. She looked up and said apologetically, Mukhiji, miene aapko jaan boojh ker nahi tanng kia tha kal raat. Mager miene aap se maafi bhi nahi maangi thy aaj subha. Tou aap mujhe maaf ker dou. Mujhe neend mien pata nahi chalta k mien kia ker rahy hun.
He smiled a little sheepishly and said, Koi baat nahi Gaurani. Mager tu mere itne qareeb ajaty hai ke... and he blushed.
"Ke kya?? Mukhiji? she inquired.
"Dekh Aru, tujhse duur rehna mere bass mien nahi hai. Mien ne tujhe vachan bhi dia hai k jab tak tu nahi kahay gy, tabb tak mien tujh per haq nahi jataon ga. Mager jab tu itne qareeb aaty hai jaise kal ayi thy, tou mujhe.... And he looked away and blushed some more.
"Mukhiji, aap se koi harkat ho bhi jaye tou mien aap ko maaf ker dun gy! She said that and quickly hid her red and smiling face in his chest.😳😉
Mukhiji could not believe his ears! He looked at his blushing wife, repeated her words in his mind, then looked heaven wards and silently said, This woman is going to be the death of me!
Holding her face in his hands, he looked into her smiling, welcoming and mischievously twinkling eyes, thanked his lucky stars in his heart, and bowed down his face to seal the moment!😉😉
