Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to be the 1st female actor to hoist the Indian

Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM)
2017 is all set to kickstart from August 10,
2017, to August 22, 2017. Aishwarya Rai
Bachchan will be a part of the film festival as
a special guest
As per a leading agency, Aishwarya will be
hoisting the Indian national flag at the
iconic Federation Square building on August
12, 2017, on the occasion of 70th Indian
Independence Day celebrations.
Moreover, Aishwarya will be the first female
actor ever to hoist the tricolour at the
annual ceremony, which is part of a special
segment.
Talking about it the director of the festival,
Mitu Bhowmick-Lange stated, "IFFM is proud
to welcome one of India's most loved and
iconic actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to
the festival and look forward to celebrating
Indian cinema in Australia."
He added, "Aishwarya will be also walking
the red carpet as a special guest at the star-
studded awards night to be held on August
11 at Melbourne's Recital Centre."
The 13-day festival will commence with the
Australian premiere of Alankrita
Shrivastava's Lipstick Under My Burkha.
Other celebrities who will be attending the
festival in Melbourne are Karan Johar,
Raveena Tandon, Simi Garewal, Konkona Sen
Sharma, Malaika Arora, Rahul Bose,
Rajkummar Rao, Dangal director Nitesh
Tiwari, Onir, Shootjit Sircar and Tannishtha
Chatterjee."
Meanwhile, on the work front, Aishwarya
will soon start shooting for Fanney Khan
alongside Anil Kapoor. The film is directed by
Atul Manjrekar and jointly produced by
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and KriArj
Entertainment. It is slated to release in April
2018.
