promotions of her upcoming movie MOM.
Along with her comeback, it is daughter
Jhanvi Kapoor's Bollywood debut which has
been hitting headlines. The doting mother
has already adviced her daughter to be
prepared for all the criticism that comes her
way in the profession.
While Sridevi had endured her age gracefully
and have started essaying challenging roles
of her age, her contemporaries Salman
Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and
even Aamir Khan continue to play characters
not their age and romancing young actors
on screen.
But is Sridevi okay if her daughter is paired
opposite an older actor?
The evergreen actor while talking to a
leading daily, replied in positive. "Good,na!
They are looking good, people are accepting
them, so it's good for them. Aamir did play a
father in Dangal. But I understand what you
are saying. They have still remained
superstars and it's working for them. So
why should I ask them to change?
She further added, "Well, I worked with an
actor Nageshwar Rao, and then I worked
with his son, too. It has already happened
with me, so if the same happens with Jhanvi
and the heroes, why not?
Earlier, Sridevi had expressed her concern
over her daughter joining Bollywood and
had said that she would rather like to see
her married than do films. Her comments
did not go down well with many. Sridevi
then issued a clarification citing that her
marriage comments for daughter Jhanvi
were misunderstood.
"My comment was misunderstood and it
really concerns me that it's sounding like I
believe girls are only meant to get married
and settle down. That's not what I want for
my daughters, I want them to be able to
stand on their own feet and have their own
identity. I've always told them never to be
dependent on anyone in any capacity. It's
very important to me that young girls
understand that the end goal of their life is
not to get married and have babies, they
have every right to make something of
themselves if they wish to," she wrote, while
adding that, "What I meant to say initially
was that I would prefer if my daughters
didn't lead the kind of hectic life that comes
with this business and instead have a
relatively stable and relaxed life. But they are
ambitious and I have come to respect that
like every parent should, and that respect
overshadows my parental instincts now,"
wrote Sridevi.
Her comeback movie MOM also stars
Akshaye Khanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
The movie is scheduled to release on July 7,
2017.
