Aww Shaina I think the main reason for that is the female audiences...they like to see men in power though it contradicts our entire being but its how stuff works...
Strong female leads are mostly accepted when they dominate in kitchen politics or similar stuff, though everyone applauds strong female leads(mostly in the virtual world) people are sadist enough to enjoy their suffering and treatment as doormats...
