Well the most interesting intriguing character of the show. Siddhant Thakur uff Sadiq. To understand the meaning of this line with respect to Siddhant you need to understand Siddhant first. He was introduced to the term Junoon by his mentor Vikram. He was a staunch believer in principles. He embodied service before self. Look at how he was captured. He could have left his soldiers and come back. No the man for whom service before self is important couldnt do that. He led from front, he didnt back off and in trying to protect the point, protect the men he got captured. Note the point in trying to protect he got captured.
Then started this young man's gruelling torture in the prison. He remembered his sister, he remembered his country, he remembered the principles of his country. He made two friends Iman and Sartaj. He said death was better than torture. He has suffered much. The human in him was craving for some love, which he couldnt see anywhere. Then when Sartaj is given the choice of whether you kill or die, he chooses to die. Note the point here that he chooses to die protecting Iman. Once again service before self. He feels if in his death two people can survive so be it. Sid at this point doesnt realize maybe the whole marega ya maarega might have been Lala's plan. Maybe if Sartaj had choosen Sid instead of Iman, then Lala would have found another way to get at Sid. Because Lala the person he was, he wanted Sid. Here we need to know that Sid is a man of heart, while Lala is a man of brain. Lala's brain is lethal. Now why he wanted Sid. If you look in FB we can see Lala introduces Sid to hussain and also he meets Afreen. Lala wanted Sid to get married to Afreen. Lala couldnt do that to Iman or Sartaj as he might have known they are married, while Sid was bachelor. So Sid choosing to die makes Lala's plan easy. Sid comes to the fold. Yes he falls in love with the woman, with the child. The man who has not seen love for long, see the love in two individuals. Lala allows Sid's affection towards Afreen and her feeling for Sid. Then he plays the trump card of creating the illusion of Hussain's death. It breaks Sid. he becomes Sadiq marries Afreen, chooses Lala his mentor.

But still Sid doesnt want child as he believes that place is hell for children. Obviously he has to when Hussain tells Sid can teach him maths. Everyone else there is using weapons to kill and get killed. It showed the little boy Hussain's need to study.

Then after he plans everything the brutal truth comes in front of him. Hussain is alive. Lala has lied and used him. He dies. Note the point he shoots himself. Maybe he could have surrendered. But no he doesnt. He dies. In records he is called a terrorist.

But is he. Because even in death he keeps service above self. He gives liberation to two of his friends from the prison. Gives Sartaj a heroic death, gives Iman his family. In a way Iman can be with his daughter and son. He can do some good things for POW families. Then the most important thing. He kills Lala. Not physically. But bringing Lala's daughter and son to his homeland, by making them disregard the ideology of Lala, by making Hussain go to school than take weapon, ensuring their child receives love and care in the most expert hands of Shobha and good oppourtunity he takes Afreen and Hussain from the hell. Lala manipulated Sid, but Sid didnt manipulate. He was truthful, he loved them. He died for them. He changed them through his actions, his love. yes the vicotry of brain is short lived, victory of heart is ever lasting. That is what Sid did. He died, but at the same time killed the man who tried to divide and rule.

Once again in record he is a terrorist. But ask to your heart. Was he ?

Copy pasting from the other thread 😆
I loved all these epilogue parts. They gave us a better understanding of why these three did what they did. Truth is when you suffer continuously for 17 years, you are bound to lose perspective of right and wrong, they were devoid of happiness and love for so long that when they finally got it they couldn't deal with it, Imaan was an exception. 17 years of imprisonment couldn't eliminate the love he had, but to an extent even he was jaded.

The closure was needed, because we have to put ourselves in someone's shoes to understand why they did what they did. yes what Siddhanth did was wrong. But we have to look past this fact to understand his reasons for it. Stockholm syndrome where one starts to sympathise with their captors, is what happened to him. Imaan and Sartaj never truly experienced the loving side (even though it was only a tool of manipulation by Lala) of Lala, they never met Hussein and they never loved Afreen. This all happened to Siddhanth Thakur. Hussein was the first person in 15 years who gave him unconditional love and when he got taken away, he lost a part of himself.

Sid's salute to the Indian tricolor was genuine, one cannot doubt his love for his country. His fight was against the so called nationalists who trade their soul for money and humanity for terrorism. He chose the wrong way to prove his point though. When you try to fight fire with fire, you are bound to get burned.

Imaan and Sartaj were stopped in time, but for Sid the realization came a little too late, his last dialogue, "Insaniyat Thodi Mehangi Pad Gayi". As they say, we have to pay for our choices, Sid payed with his life. He will be forever remembered as a terrorist and not the the soldier who gave 15 years of his life for his country. That's the bitter truth! Siddhant's life is the very definition of a tragedy.

This show has given us such brilliant dialogues, that choosing the best is impossible for me. But yes Vikram's monologues on the trio have to be up there!! 👏👏 Kudos to the writer.

The last 1 minute, Imaan alone in front of the tricolor and then for a millisecond he's joined by his brothers, I choked up in that moment 😭

Yes Diii lala lost ... Afreen idolised her father. ..but now see. ...she openly brings out his truth dat he has used his family and his innocent son. ..she came and embraced india and a innocent soul like sid's child and hussain will get all d love and d ri8 way. ...lala failed miserably
But yes sid is gone and he died as an indian. ..he was always an indian. .sid ne jo kuch Kiya ek bacche ke liye Kiya. .Pyaar ke liye. .uski jang nafrat se thi
...but fate. His sacrifice his struggle of 15 years. .only because he was not ready to leave his men. .all dis holds no chance. ..as u said karma and d result is not something we can change. .

@sehar he died, in records as terrorist. But to the one who knew him he was always Siddhant Thakur Rajasthan Rifles, Indian Army
@athira Sid would have chosen to lead, he could have had a kid and then ordered his men to go and die just like Lala was doing. He had his family while young men died fighting Jihad. But once again Sid fought from front Service before self was what he has been taught. And that motto killed Lala in every way.

Thanks for mentioning the Point about How Siddhant could have avoided this Situation , But NO ... he himself  chose to get into it .
He could have chosen to stick to his point about having a Wrong Lead but No He chose Service there i.e follow and respect Senior's order.
He again could have avoided by coming back when Vikram asks him , but again It was his choice to stay there and safeguard his Mates .
And again , In Marega ya Maarega game , he once again gave in to his Service ...or better to say his Principles .

It was Purely his own CHOICE ... in comparison to how the other two got Captured .

@Rollingstones yes whatever Sid did was his choice. He didnt care about the world, he cared about his principles and he lived and died for those principles. His principles were his junoon.

I Love this guy Siddhant ,I just LOVE HIM SO MUCH .
My heart goes out to him for all what he had to bear .
Young Intelligent promising officer awaiting his bright future but destiny serves him total opposite and what he get is Terrorist Label .
He never had any hatred for Imaan and Sartaj if there would have been any , he would have never felicitated their release .
Even when Sartaj chose Imaan above him ,he still chose to give his friends a Release .
At the end ,even if viewers think Sid brought lot of problems to India and Indians .
He in a way was responsible for the Closures of everyone .
as for service above self , whole heartedly agree with you . He lived by his principles till his very last breath . He even chose death by his own choice for his own principles .
Happy that the writers established this very fact .
Anurag was truly the driving force of this show for me .
I got interested in the show after his entry and he got me hooked like no end .
For me Siddhant's story will always remain best part of POW .Edited by OnMyOwn - 7 years ago

Yes dear Siddhant was a beautifully scripted character. Whatever he did was his choice and he owned those choices.
