Saawariya Only!!

[11 Sep 2007>

Deepika Padukone, the latest sexy and sizzling hot babe of bollywood, was dumped by Ranbir Kapoor not because he wanted to, but because his ' Saawariya' director Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted it that way. Sanjay Leela Bhansali felt that if Ranbir Kapoor came in the limelight due to his affair with Deepika Padukone, his film would be sidetracked and suffer at the box office.

As a source close to Sanjay Leela Bhansali says, ' Sanjay did not want Ranbir to come in the spotlight for any other reason but the film. He wanted the focus on Saawariya only. During Ranbir's sister Riddhima's wedding, the director had given strict instructions to Rishi and Neetu Kapoor not to allow the media any access to newbie.'

According to sources, Sanjay Leela Bhansali got alarmed when Ranbir Kapoor's name began to appear in media, not due to his magnum opus ' Saawariya', but for his rollicking affair with the ' Om Shanti Om's sexy siren Deepika Padukone. Sanjay called Ranbir Kapoor's parents Rishi and Neetu Kapoor and told them to stop Ranbir from meeting Deepika, if they wanted his debut film to do better at the box office.

Due to this pressure from parents, Ranbir Kapoor suddenly stopped taking any calls from Deepika Padukone, which led her to return to former beau Nihar Pandya, whom she had ditched for Ranbir. And thus curtains came down on the budding romance of two most eligible bachelors of bollywood.

Hm……hm……seems……Sanjay Leela Bhansali is advocate of love only on screen…… but off screen…..Pyar Ka Dushman, what say Ranbir -Deepika?? …..or it was some sort of insecurity on the part of master filmmaker…..hee tee hee hee!!....remember Shah Rukh's Om Shanti Om and Sanjay's Saawariya are slated for the same day release in November!!

Is Farah Khan re-making 'Karz'?

By Vickey Lalwani 2006 Bollyvista.com

The latest buzz in Bollywood is that choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan's forthcoming venture titled 'Om Shanti Om' is inspired from Subhash Ghai's 1980 super-hit 'Karz'.

The film stars ShahRukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.

The grapevine is that Shah Rukh plays the role of Rishi Kapoor, while Deepika will play Tina Munim's role.

Farah was supposed to start another film, Happy New Year, but the film has been temporarily shelved.

However Farah Khan scoffs at the rumors and denies that she is making anything on the lines of 'Karz'. Time will tell.

The odd couple

Mumbai Mirror, September 9th, 2006

Farah Khan has her own reasons for pairing ShahRukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in Om Shanti Om

Farah Khan is full-on into pre-production work for her next directorial venture. Being a period film set in the 1970s, it requires a great deal of topographical and sartorial detailing.

Says Farah, "Everything, from the cars and bell-bottoms to the hair style and clothes, have to be worked out in full detail. Yup, pre-production is on. But the casting is yet to be completed. Deepika Padukone has been more-or-less finalised. We've told her she can tell the world that she's on."

Shah Rukh with Deepika Padukone will be a very unusual pair. "That's right," enthuses Farah. "Just like Sush and Shah Rukh in Main Hoon Na. It's always advisable to go for the unexpected."

So why has Farah decided to do a TV show at this crucial juncture in her pre-production work? "See, it's an ideal time for me to do something as diverting as this dance show. My shooting for Om Shanti Om starts mid-December. This dance show gets over by the end of October. Since I'm not shooting and only going into pre-production I'm adjusting my meetings according to the schedules for the dance show."

'Why can't ShahRukh Khan be my hero?'

MADHU DAITHOTA

Her debut film in Kannada has just hit theatres. But Bollywood's all set for Deepika Padukone.

Her debut film Aishwarya directed by Indrajit Lankesh has just been released. And modelturned-actress Deepika Padukone is already being wooed by filmmakers from various film industries.

But it's choreographer-turneddirector Farah Khan who's managed to get a nod from the hot babe for a film with ShahRukh Khan.

"Yes, I will be working with ShahRukh Khan shortly — we will begin shooting by December,"confirms Deepika. She's really looking forward to the film and says she's excited about working with her icon.

"80 per cent of the films I've watched while growing up are his,"she says. So does the fact that King Khan is in his 40s and she just 20-something bother her? "If Amitabh Bachchan can play sexy Sam at his age, then why can't Shah Rukh be my hero? I don't think age has anything to do with acting. I think Shah Rukh will always be perceived as the boy-next-door — he's immortalised the Rahul character."

Deepika loved him in Swades and thought he did a fab job in the film. "And as far as he and I coming from various backgrounds is concerned, I'm sure the director, Farah, has visualised the two of us together before she decided to cast us together,"she says.

Deepika is also considering a change of look for the film. Is it to match the suave and stylish King Khan? "It's not just that.

I think it's important for every actor to keep changing his or her looks. It's an actor's responsibility to constantly keep re-inventing and staying versatile,"says Deepika.

The actress has taken her call to Bollywood quite seriously — besides experimenting with her looks, Deepika has also taken up diction and dance classes.

"I also believe that my work should speak for me. Which is why I never believed in partying or being seen at the right places. I don't find the need to do so. I prefer staying low-key and concentrating on work,"she says firmly.

Her efforts seem to have paid off because top filmmakers are approaching her to work in their films, including Rakeysh Prakash Mehra for a film with Abhishek and another Hrithik film. "I can't comment on anything. Nothing's concrete as yet,"she says.

But one thing everyone's curious about is why Deepika choose a Kannada film to debut when she was being offered projects from some of the top directors in the country?

"I've spent 19 years of my life in Bangalore and I'm comfortable with the language. So it was a sensible choice to make."

Deepika Padukone has time only for SRK!

If you've been wondering when the good looking Deepika Padukone is making her debut in Hindi films, you'll just have to wait a while. We hear Farah Khan's film where she's cast Deeps with SRK may start only in December. Moreover, the youngster is doing extremely well with her south film which has just released – but she's not taking up another south assignment as widely reported. Guess with an SRK film in her kitty, she's hardly gonna have time for anything else, what?
