The character of Uma deserves some appreciation tonight:
(whilst others were being butchered to the point of no return ie Suman, Uma was shining like a star)

Uma married a man (Kailash Kashyap) who loved no one but himself. She borne him three children and became the perfect wife for him. She was always the one, on whom Kailash elected to take out all his frustrations, and she bore it all for her children and for society. We can still remember those livid moments of when he would strangle her and watch her suffocate as she struggles to breath.

She remained a docile and submissive wife. She pretended to be really happy to her three children. Then came the day, when she had no choice but to stand up against her husband to ensure her daughter did not live a life she did. But alas she stood up too late, as her husband's chaal had succeeded. She could not save her daughter. She begged her daughter not to fall into her father's trap, but she was also fully aware that those were mere words and that she would not be able to protect her from his wrath.

Uma thought her daughter would find happiness and peace in her new marriage despite the circumstances so she chose to persuade her daughter to remain in her new marriage despite knowing where her heart truly is. And when Vividha refused Uma, continued to show her disapproval until she realised that Vividha truly never moved on from Atharv. Therefore, she gave her consent, because finally she understood her daughter's happiness was above all of society's taunts.

Then tonight we saw her in action. She stood up for her daughter.

A NEW Uma was born tonight. And she was just Vividha's mother, trying to fight for her daughter's happiness. Atharv and Vividha cannot live without each other, she knows that and as such she wants Atharv to understand that Vividha never moved on from him. Yes, she married someone else because she had no choice, but not once did she allow her heart to move away from his. She said *the opportunity to choose between Atharv and Ravish can never arise because for Vividha, her heart belonged to Atharv only*. This little fact was something Uma herself had forgotten and she acknowledges that tonight when she owes up to the fact that she told her daughter not to acquire a divorce.

Uma tried her best to make Atharv understand her daughter, she even instigated him with *WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF SHE DID CHOOSE RAVISH* but alas the thick headed Atharv was in no mood to listen because per him she had moved on. Uma's *you won't do anything and yet you will not see her face?* (her expressions were awesome) made Atharv speak about his fear of not wanting to be like his father. He wants her to be with who she wants to be, but he also knows it will hurt him because he is after all a human being and not GOD! I love how she informed Atharv that Vividha did not have to accept him when he came back, and that she could have informed him that she was now married as such their paths were different. BUT she did not do that, is that not enough?

As soon as she realises he was refusing to listen, she understood at that moment that only Vividha could drill some sense into him and so she orders him to get ready to do DELHI. He could not say no because his mother in law had spoken (😆).

I still maintain that Uma was wrong before, but she is on the road of redemption (😆).

#ATMA have brilliant chemistry. I would love to see their bonding when Kailash comes back on the scene.

I haven't watched the episode tonight, but I loved Uma yesterday too. She was wrong before, but I think I can forgive her that one slip up because as a parent, she did not want Vividha to go through too much pain, which she thought Vividha would have to with a divorce. It is always difficult to break convention for a person like Uma. But then she reconciled to the fact that Vividha can only be happy with Atharv and so now she will do all she can to protect the sanctity of their relationship.

Thats what mothers do - engulf their children in their wide arms and protect them from the world. And in doing so, she will not hurt or harm anyone else. She just wants to see her children -A and V - happy.

Yuhooo three cheers for ATMA today..🥳
While Atharv was told the basic highlights of those 3 months he was lost, it was Uma who went through all the low level details of what actually transpired for Vv in those 3 months. Absolutely loved Uma's resolve of letting Atharv know about how Vv suffered everyday without him, how Vv never let Ravish affect her heart and how Vv did everything possible to get Atharv back. Someone was needed to drill this into Atharv and uma did this perfectly.

Also the way she reasons at Vv's empathy for Ravish was commendable. I was surprised that if all, it was uma who told Atharv that Vv isnt confused but just respecting the relations she had in the past.

Uma owning up that shr herself forced Vv not to go for divorce is definitely her first step to redemption.

Hey Jules

I was just about to leave but couldn't go without replying to your awesome post!

I think it must be a first on this forum for there to be a post dedicated solely to Uma but boy does she deserve it today! I thought she was brilliant.

Uma, the one who we all normally crib about and get frustrated about, has stood up two times in her life for her daughter when it really mattered.

The first was when she told Vividha to run to Atharv on her wedding day(those few episodes still haunt), and today when she told Atharv that Vividha only loved him.

Isn't it ironic that up until a few days ago, it was Uma who was urging Vividha not to divorce Ravish yet today, she is telling Atharv that there's no choice for Vividha to make because she's already chosen Atharv.

At the end of the day, Uma knows her daughter really well. Even when Kailaash forced Vivi to marry Ravish, Uma had told him that Vivi wouldn't even allow anyone else's shadow to touch her besides Atharv. And today Uma knows that Vividha will never love anyone else besides Atharv. The shock on her face when Atharv told her that he would never see Vividha again if she loved Ravish was so telling. She knew that it would kill her daughter.

I loved Uma when she just ordered Atharv to go to Delhi with her. She knows that it's easy for Atharv to stand there and say he will never see Vividha again, but it will be a completely different matter when he has to say it to her face.

I love the name you've made for them...AtMa! They really do have great chemistry(but to be honest, who doesn't Vikram have chemistry with). I loved the fact that today, Uma wholeheartedly stood up for Vitharv's love. She doesn't care about society and stigma anymore. She knows that ViTharv's happiness is only with each other.

I have always been wary of Uma's character. I think i have whiplash from how many times she changes her opinion but today felt like the Uma I always wanted to see.
Vividha's mum and Atharv's mother in law. Someone there to admit her mistakes and her blindness to the name of relationships. And to now become the woman asking her children what is in their hearts, and doing whatver she can to ensure they live lives full of happiness and love. now i think she truly understands and supports her daughter, which is all Vividha has ever needed.

Let's just hope she doesn't do a 180 when her wonderful husband returns😳

ATMA has started on good note! ❤️

Uma was ready to go any extent to clear his confusion, ready to reveal her own wrong doings. She is perfect mom-in-law.

@Bold, ditto! That was exactly what the makers depicted tonight. I felt it was wrong of Uma in the past when she tried to force Vividha to accept her marriage despite knowing at the time that she still wanted to be with Atharv, but like you said, she did not want her daughter to have to go through the taunts of being a divorcee and for a woman like Uma, society's taunts always did have an effect on her.

Khair, now she has come back and is ready to be there for her daughter no matter what!:D
