Finally today Sujata said everything that we've all been wanting her to say for such a long time.
She is Ramakant's first wife.
Before I say anything, I want to say how incredible both Shilpa and Smita were today. Today the focus was solely on them and they were outstanding.
Luckily, Ravish wasn't very badly hurt as the bullet grazed his arm but Atharv's distress was apparent. He was horrified that he had shot his Captain Saab and was nearly in tears. I liked the way Ravish consoled him and asked him to teach him to shoot blindfolded. Atharv was so happy that he excitedly agreed.
But Suman was seething. As she saw Atharv's happy smiles her anger built more and more and she finally exploded. Suman has been taunting both Atharv and Sujata since she discovered them in her house. She has never held back and said exactly what she felt. But today her words were not just mean, they were hurtful and degrading. She constantly taunted Sujata as the other woman and called Atharv the most horrible names including infection, dirty blood and illegitimate. As she dragged a crying Atharv by the arm to throw him out of the house, she continued with her tirade.
Atharv was distraught. He implored Suman and begged her to let him stay with Vividha and Ravish. Sujata even apologised but Suman just didn't stop. She called Sujata and Atharv sheep in wolves clothing and accused them of ruining her family's lives.
And Sujata finally broke.
She had finally had enough and her patience snapped. And with a soft 'Bas,' she told Suman that she wasn't the other woman, Suman was.
This moment has been a long time coming and how compelling it was. Sujata didn't even raise her voice but calmly and with dignity told Sujata that she was the legally married first wife and Atharv was the legitimate eldest son of the Vashisht family. All of Suman's walls came crashing down around her as she realised the reality of Sujata's words. Suman had no right in the eyes of the law as she was not the legal wife of Ramakant.
What a weak man Daadaji turned out to be. For all his bragging about being an army man and having honour, he went to slap a woman. He raised his hand against Sujata.
And Atharv Sujata came back for his mother.
He held Colonel Vashishts hand and calmly told him that he cuts of the hands of men who raise their hands against women, and the woman who he had dared raise his voice against was Atharv Sujata's mother!
THIS is honour! This is dignity. This is a real man. A man who stands up for women and who speaks for them. This is why we love Atharv Sujata and can't wait for him to come back.
I'm going to mention Vividha here.
I know many have said they are disappointed because she didn't say anything when Atharv called out to her, but this was not the time for her to speak. Everyone saw Suman's anger. She was being unreasonable and was not willing to listen to anyone. If Vividha had defended Atharv at this point, she could have made things even worse. If Ravish could not get through to his mother, how would Vividha have. She did the sensible thing by keeping quiet at that moment. This was between Sujata and Suman to deal with.
Today, dynamics have changed in the Vashisht household. From being Ramakant's legal and official wife, Suman has now been proved to be the second one. It will be interesting how this will affect Suman's behaviour towards Sujata, the woman she hates, and Atharv, now the legitimate first son of the Vashists.
