Art seems to be going out of art
galleries and into five-star hotels.
Gallerist Ashish Balram Nagpal recently hosted a preview of the paintings of artist Vipul Salvi (whom Ashish termed his ?newest discovery and an
artist of our times?) at Enigma at JW Marriott, and the do turned out to be not just for the kurta-clad arty types but also for a cross-section of the glam brigade.
Laura D, from a big international fashion house, flew down especially for the evening; TV actors Varun Badola and Aamir Ali were there without their partners, but Varun found very entertaining company in artist Chintan Upadhyay. Julius Macwan was seen after a long hiatus, while on the other hand, Soketu Parikh made his presence felt here as well ? the two were heard discussing the ban on smoking in public places.
Viren Shah, who has lost quite a bit of weight, mingled with Ashiesh Roy and Gary Richardson. The night went off quite well, under the able guidance of Nasir Shaikh of the hotel.
