Those roles are difficult if you are not gay or transgender and really testing the limits of your acting ability.
Act convincingly without becoming a caricature.

Something along the lines of Fawad in Kapoor and Sons. Or Randeep in BT.

Playing someone transgender which requires physical change. Someone who is believable without it being a caricature leaning towards comedy.

I don't think Ranbir would even attempt those roles. He is too in his comfort zone where as Ranveer is more daring.

Ranveer could play Fawad and Randeeps role.

Someone said this in one of the reviews of ADHM - "No other male actor today is as comfortable with his feminine side as Ranbir is." - I couldn't agree more.

Btw, I don't think playing gay is any different than playing a heterosexual. Nobody guessed Fawad was gay in Kapoor and Sons until it was revealed in the narrative. Suffice to say, not all homosexuals are effeminate, and not all heterosexuals are macho either.

So this question becomes invalid for me.

So you think Ranbir could get intimate with a man on screen and make it look believable?

This is all hypothetical because I don't think Ranbir would even attempt those roles.
Other than Barfi where he played someone autistic there has not been anything that has been all that different.

Ranbir is too much in his comfort zone to attempt such roles (not saying he can't pull it off)
Ranveer on other hand has guts to do the same! So ya I will give it to him

+1. Absolutely. I didn't even see that coming in K&S until I guessed it because he didn't talk about his 'girlfriend' unless asked. I've known people who're homosexuals, and people who're heterosexual. Being in tune with your feminine side has nothing to do with your sexual preference. People just love putting labels and that's sad.

Also, I'd like to add. It's quite a sad point that Bollywood, or fans thereof, seem to think that such roles are 'risky' or 'not worth it' or worst, a laughing matter. I saw The Danish Girl at the beginning of the year, and let me just point out that Eddie Redmayne in that movie, has one of my favorite performances of probably all time. It's sad that in our culture, homosexuality is reduced to Dostana and transgender issues to those women who pop up to bless babies etc.

But yeah, if someone can pull it off, it would be Ranbir. He would probably not do anything like that now, but in a couple of years, why not? Question is, are there producers brave enough for such movies?
