do kinnars actually do this

Well, I have heard and read of such incidences happening 🤔 In one particular article, I remember reading something to the effect that they kidnap children who show such leanings because they know the child will be tormented and ostracized if it grows up among "normal" people. In traditional Indian society, such people are often singled out and harassed cruelly. So the kinnars believe the child will be better off if they bring it into their fold and raise it in the company of similar people. That is one aspect. The monetary angle is probably the biggest factor. They still live on the fringes of society, and are forced into lot of unsavoury professions to earn their livelihood because they are not given a chance to earn money through respectable means. So they seek to include more people in the group to earn more.
