Hey, guys i read somwhere that in a research paper it was said that in the middle of stupa that had four lions there was mention of devi and her children which was later destroyed by dynasties which came after mauryans becoz they hated buddhist
Also in a book puvlished in 1940, it is said that ashok died on the sam day as devi because he couldn't bear her death
Can anybody tell me if it is true or not?

The first part of answer-I dont know...probably it may have happened...as a new dynasty always has the tendency to erase the memories and work of old dynasties. About second part to your question...Ashoka died at the age of 72 and he married Mahadevi at the age of 18 who was 16 herself. So you can see an age gap of 2 years. And its believed that she dies in her 60's...Considering that she died at the age of 69, Ashoka would have died at the age of 71(max) ...I highly doubt that he died on the same day when Devi died.

According to wiki, Devi died in 242BC and Ashoka died in 232 BC

Thnx for the info 😊
Nd if the first part is really true then i feel very bad for devi who didn't got her due recognition
And now a stupid production house has brutally butchered her character

Well I would say she has got recognition...But this show has degraded and butchered her character. Not only her but everyone including the Great Samrat himself.

Ha adhya even I heard about first one, there s a high possibility the latter mauryans might have destroyed regarding devi and her children, I even asked about this to a professor he said there s a possibility as the latter mauryans r nt exactly Buddhism favorites, nt just this I heard they destroyed so many that related to devi and her children.
How much ever they destroyed devi, mahendra, sanghamitra marked their own name in history

History s one highly distorted one, with generations passing history has become more distorted and confusing, none knows what exactly happened, still people debate on being devi, adandhimitra r Same r not, that's how our histories r😆

Lol i fully agree with you
History is really confusing but engaging all at the same time
We read diff books and then wonder if this how it was or was it diff??
Nd yes no matter how hard anybody tried mahendra and sanghamitra are still ashok most well known children
Devi , mahendra and sanghamitra all are famous in history
Speciall mahendra whose arrival is still celebrated ad a festival there
Also , i think these edicts and pillars buily by ashok are probable the ones which are left
May be there were other monuments
May be even ashandhimitra wad mentioned by ashok
Who knows?
We can only read nd imagine nd then again read
Everytime something new pops out
History is like an ocean who depth can never be fathomed

Umm i think i became a bit too philosophical
Sorry if i bored you

History becomes so complicated in such situations. 😆 You don't know what to believe. You don't know what's true. 😆

Mahendra and Sangamitra are famous than any of the Ashok's kids. Credit goes to them that today when India does not follow Buddhism so much, many of the neighbouring countries like Tibet, China and Sri Lanka do follow.

History is a mystery no one knows what actually happened. Many of the stories are build on assumptions. Many of the actions are questioned but the reason behind them is unanswered. Simply because we cannot go in their mind when they took those decisions. For example who was Ashok favourite wife, why did his fifth wife made Krunala blind or biggest question how did our forefathers invented fire. Many of the stories have 2 ways so its mostly confusing what actually happened.

Sorry to divert from the topic. It may have happened that Ashok built something really important for his other wives even for Devi, but the coming dynasties must have destroyed it. I have read that when Ghori came to India he attacked the Indian temples and architects. There were even more invaders.
