TV One is one channel which strives to build its own niche with serials like Band Khirkiyon Ke Peechay and Mein Sitara. Their upcoming promising project is called Parizad which has Faisal Rehman and Sumbul Iqbal in the lead. While Iqbal is well known for her apt portrayal of all thebechari bahus out there, Parizad's synopsis promises that this time we won't see the damsel in distress.
Well, of course she'll be in distress - because then how will we have a story arc - but over a meaningful issue like girls' education.
Who is Parizad?
Parizad - essayed by Sumbul Iqbal - is a young and beautiful girl who is passionate about making education available for young girls. Coming from a middle class home, she needs to earn money to support her family so she teaches in a school and holds classes in the afternoon for young girls in her neighborhood.
While this girl dreams to change the world, her heart requires the simpler things in life like a loving husband, and a small home.
Will Prizad get the love of her life?
Unfortunately, life isn't too easy for Parizad as Ali - who works in the same school as her and whom she hopes to marry some day - isn't rich enough. Now don't get us (or Parizad's family) wrong. They aren't a greedy lot, but just when Ali (Azfer Rehman) is about to send a proposal to Parizad's family, a situation arises which leads her to make a tough decision.
Parizad brings human trafficking to light
While Parizad's track highlights the importance for women's education, on the other hand, we have her brother who becomes the victim of a human trafficking scam and the mafia wants a large sum of money to release him. It seems the writer, Edison Masih, and director, Fahim Burney, have laid great importance on giving out as many important messages as they can through this serial.
Twist(s) in Parizad's life
To save her family's honour, Parizad decides to marry Mansoor sahib (Faisal Rehman) - a rich widower and father of two teenage girls - because he is willing to give her the amount she needs to free her brother.
This isn't it, Mansoor Sahib - apart form being a far cry from her love interest - is a strict disciplinarian who doesn't really believe in educating girls and the environment in his home is very conservative and suffocating.
And his evil nephew Arshad is a lecherous and greedy man who eyes not only Mansoor's money, but also his young wife, Parizad. Then suddenly Ali returns into Parizad's life and offers his hand in marriage to rid her of Mansoor and his lecherous nephew.
