Shah Rukh Khan's 'Darr' all set to make a comeback

YRF gearing up to go bigger, darker and edgier with a reboot of the cult YRF thriller, Darr, in a contemporary avatar as a five part mini-series, Darr 2.0.

The youth films wing of Yash Raj Films, Y-Films has always picked content that's both entertaining and also social relevant. Be it sex education with Sex Chat with Pappu & Papa, LGBT rights with the 6-Pack Band, gender equality with Man's World or more. It's now gearing up to go bigger, darker and edgier with a reboot of the cult YRF thriller, Darr, in a contemporary avatar as a five part mini-series, Darr 2.0.

Darr 2.0 will feature the characters of Rahul, Kiran and Sunil from the original but in an entirely new setting, weaved in a modern, original tale of obsession and fear in the age of cyber stalking and digital crimes. The series holds a mirror to the perilous environment of online privacy invasion and social media harassment that can take a dangerous and disturbing turn, if unchecked.

To demonstrate the risks of voluntarily releasing too much information on the internet, Y-Films asked its fans, followers & subscribers to send across their happy pictures and moments for its next promo but did not reveal any further information. Hundreds of personal and intimate pictures poured in, and some of those pictures are showcased in the first part of the teaser, the second part of which features an unidentified young man discreetly saving them on his computer. Giving the fans a virtual first-hand experience of the safety risk they undertake each time they share their information online. Thus, putting the fans at the centre of the Darr2.0 theme that has the tagline: "You have one new follower."

Watch the teaser right here:

Independence Day

Independence Day (1996)

This epic Roland Emmerich film redefined science fiction for us. Smith acted an ace pilot who risks his life and flies a refurbished alien attack ship back into the alien mother ship to deploy a nuclear device into it. The scale and scope of the film merits that someone of the stature of Shah Rukh Khan should play the part. And given the romantic angle between Smith and his wife in the film, SRK proves to be the right fit again.

The last five years or so have been witness to a massive leap in technology in Bollywood. Following close on the heels of its Western counterpart, the Hindi film industry has pulled its socks and the quality of VFX here can now be compared to global standards.

Cashing in on the technological high is filmmaker Anand L. Rai who has already started working on the most challenging project of his career. The film, which stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, will see the actor play a dwarf and calls for some very advanced visual effects.

In a recent interview, SRK said that if his team gets the VFX right in Anand's film, it would be path-breaking for the industry. The VFX done by his company Red Chillies in films like Krissh, Ra.One, Fan, and Chennai Express has been heavily appreciated. Things are set to take a big turn for Anand's film as the team that worked in the Brad Pitt-starrer The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, has been roped in.

A source close to the project said, "Yes, work on SRK's look has already started and Anand will invest a lot of time with Khan's VFX team as well. The pre-production will take a lot of time but they have enough time before the film goes on floors."

In the Brad Pitt starrer, the actor had not done a live shoot for the portions at the start of the film " it was all achieved through VFX. In fact, it was another actor who enacted those scenes in front of the camera and later, his face was replaced with Brad's.

Later Brad recorded his voice and expressions in a separate set up comprising 25 cameras which allowed frame by frame tracking. The source adds, "For Anand, it is all about storytelling and the VFX will work in such a way that it doesn't come in the way of his shooting style. The Hollywood team will present him with many options and after discussing it with SRK and his VFX team, a final call will be taken. But this is something that has never been done in India and everyone is excited."

http://www.khaleejtimes.com/citytimes/bollywood/shahrukh-khan-teams-up-with-bollywood-parks-dubai-for-don-the-chase-ride

The park has partnered with Shahrukh Khan to shoot the high speed chase scenes for its immersive 3D ride - Don: The Chase

With the launch around the corner, Bollywood Parks Dubai, the world's first Bollywood inspired theme park and part of Dubai Parks and Resorts, the largest integrated theme park destination in the region, set to open on October 31 2016, brings yet another first with its biggest cinematic association. The park has partnered with Shahrukh Khan to shoot the high speed chase scenes for its immersive 3D ride - Don: The Chase which will premiere at the opening of Bollywood Parks Dubai.

While shooting for the ride, Shahrukh Khan said, "The park is a mix of rides, excitement and adventure, while staying true to the ethos of Bollywood. Films are a reflection of reality where we strongly believe in our hopes, and the same will be translated to the park where you will have fun!" At Bollywood Parks Dubai, we will emulate this larger than life spirit, as we want to leave our guests and families spellbound at the end of each ride.

With the fans and families of Dubai waiting for the opening of the first Bollywood inspired theme park, the fine detailing of the elements recreated from the actual movie witnessed during the chase, will cast the feel of being a part of the movie.

Getting back into his character from the movie, the star was seen reciting his famous dialogues, especially for the thrill seekers who can't wait to experience this ride. Commenting on the ride, he said, "This time the chase is in Dubai, on the very famous Shaikh Zayed Road and also other famous landmarks of Dubai. As the famous dialogue of the movie goes - 'Don ko pakadana mushkil hi nahin, namumkin hai' that means it's not only difficult to catch Don, but impossible as well."

Directed by Reema Kagti, one of Bollywood's finest directors, this ride was completed with the support of over 100 members from the production team. Under the guidance of the Don movie producer, Ritesh Sidhwani and the lead actor Shahrukh himself, the team ensured that every aspect of the ride should exude the essence of the original movie, so that the fun begins right at the start as visitors enter the ride pre-show area and immediately become a part of the story.

He further added, "A movie star is made by the team, who work's behind him or her. You feel completely redundant and useless, if you don't have a good team supporting you. The star of the show carries a lot of his own notion on the set and if it is channeled in the wrong direction, then the whole set or the making goes wrong. But if it is nice, then it permeates to everyone and the hard work required does not seem like 'hard' work at all."

Located within the Mumbai Chowk zone at Bollywood Parks Dubai, visitors will enjoy the Don - The Chase ride, a 3D motion immersive tunnel, which will have visitors chasing their favourite diabolical mastermind across the city of Dubai, hoping that they will be the first to catch him. Paying tribute to Bollywood's hometown, the Mumbai Chowk zone will also provide unique offerings such as a recreation of the famous Victoria Station, built alongside a classic Mumbai suburban railway train offering typical Indian curries while showcasing performances on its roof - the Mumbai Express stage - will bring to life the colours and sounds of this vibrant city.
