Hi guys :)
I am back :) With an OS on Ram-Lakshman from my side. This is how I view their relationship.
Please do read and review :)
TWO BODIES, ONE SOUL
Urmila hummed, while setting the bed in her room. Her happiness was finally back. Her Lord, her Lakshman had come back only a short while ago. As had her Sita Didi, and her Ram Bhaiya. She had missed Ram Bhaiya as much as she had missed her husband and her Sita Didi. Ram Bhaiya was that person with whom she could discuss scriptures for ages, and he would calmly discuss back, without getting irritated by her love for discussions. She remembered the times she and Ram Bhaiya will be
enjoying their discussions, along with her husband and Sita Didi.
"Rajkumari"
A servant came in to the chambers.
"Daasi?", asked Urmila.
"Raja Ram is asking to see you", said the servant.
"Ram Bhaiya is here?", asked Urmila, excited. "I will come right away"
Urmila rushed to the entrance, welcoming Shri Ram.
"Bhaiya",she said, falling at His feet for blesssings.
"Sowbhagyavathi bhava!"
Shri Ram blessed Urmila.
"Please come in Bhaiya. Is there anything I can do for you?", asked Urmila. "Can't a brother come to see his sister?", asked Raghuveer playfully.
"Always Bhaiya", said Urmila, a wide smile on her face. "Please do sit down"
Shri Ram sat down, and asked Urmila to sit down. Urmila sat down happily.
"Bhaiya, how is the administrative work going on?", asked Urmila.
"It's going on fine, Urmi", said Raghuveer, smiling. "It was a slow day
today, and my work got over early. So, I decided to visit my little
sister and see what she was doing. I heard Sita barred everyone from
entering the kitchen already"
"Yes Bhaiya", said Urmila, giggling. "Sita Didi wanted to cook all by
herself today"
"Of course she did. I think mainly for Shatrughan though. He came and
whined to us about how much he missed his Sita Bhabhi's food", said
Shri Ram, shaking his head at the thought of His brother.
"He did that all the time to Mandavi Didi and I too", said Urmila.
"I am not surprised. I also heard that you helped Bharat and Shatrughan
with the administration of the Kingdom", said Raghunath, smiling at
her.
"It was all Pitaji and Sita Didi's teaching", said Urmila, blushing at
his praise.
"You tell your Didi that, she will say it was not", said Shri Ram, a
loving smile on his face as he thought of Sita. Urmila admired her
Ram Bhaiya's love for her Sita Didi.
"What is going on here? I come to see my little sister, and my Lord has
already come to see His younger sister before me"
The beautiful Sita entered the room, first falling at her husband's feet,
and then hugging her sister.
"What is going on here, that Raghuveer and His laadli are discussing?",
asked Sita.
"I was just praising her for helping Bharat and Shatrughan with
administration", said Raghuveer.
"My Urmi is extremely intelligent", said Sita, touching Urmila's cheek. "Didi, it's all your teachings. Yours and Pitaji's", said Urmila,
blushing.
"Urmila!",said Sita, shaking her head at her sister.
"It's true. Arya Putra will agree with me", said Urmila.
"Urmila, Lakshman knows how intelligent you are. My son knows you too well. He knows you can't take praise easily", said Sita.
"Didi, this is all that I learnt from you", said Urmila.
"No Urmila. You learnt it because you were interested", said Sita, in a
'no-nonsense' tone.
"As you say Didi", said Urmila, giggling at her sister. Raghuveer
smiled happily at the two sisters.
"You know Urmila, your Didi was so worried about Lakshman during our
exile", said Shri Ram.
"I know she would have. Arya told me all about it", said Urmila. "Why
so much worry Didi?"
"Lakshman is my first son, Urmi. I will always worry about him", said Sita."And considering he overworked all the time, I have more reason to" "I know Didi. But did Arya overwork so much?", asked Urmila.
"He did Urmi. Always working. Sitey had to force him to eat most of the
time", said Raghuveer.
"I am not surprised", said Urmila. "I ate only after he did"
"What? Urmi", asked Sita.
"Han Didi. I waited for Arya to finish eating, and after he told me you
ate, I will eat", said Urmila.
"Why, little sister?", asked Rama.
"Call it selfish of me, Bhaiya, but I wanted you three to always think that
I am there with you. So, I tried to follow what I would have done had
I come to the forest with you", said Urmila.
"You were Urmi", said Sita. "You were in my heart, in your Bhaiya's,
and most importantly in Lakshman's. He used to ask me to tell him
stories of us in Mithila, though he knew all of them"
Urmila smiled tearfully hearing that. Sita wiped her tears.
"Don't cry Urmi. We are all back. Nothing can separate you from Lakshman again", said Sita. Urmila nodded.
"These 14 years without the three of you has been heartbreaking", said
Urmila.
"We know Urmila. But now we are back", said Raghunath, smiling at her. "Urmila!"
Urmila smiled. Her husband had come.
"Urmila, where are you?", asked Lakshman, as he walked into the room.
Surprised, he said, "Bhaiya, Bhabhi?"
He rushed and fell at their feet, taking their blessings.
"Come sit Lakshman", said Shri Ram.
"Ji Bhaiya", said Lakshman, taking a seat next to Urmila. "What are
we talking about?"
"Life in general", said Sita, smiling at her son. The four sat in comfortable silence.
"You know Didi", started Urmila.
Lakshman smiled. His wife was not one known for silences.
"Tell me Urmi?", asked Sita, smiling. "When you were all gone, Sumitra Ma and Kaikayi Ma always worried about Ram Bhaiya. Has He slept, has He had food, is He okay", said Urmila.
"And Kausalya Ma?", asked Shri Ram, smiling.
"She was worried about Arya almost always", said Urmila.
"I get that. Lakshman is her laadla", said Raghunath, smiling.
"She was praying to Lord Vishnu continuously the day we found out about Arya getting hit by Meghnad's barchi", said Urmila, tears in her
eyes. "And I knew the second Arya was it. My heart was torn apart,
I felt like it was breaking"
"Mila", said Lakshman quietly.
"I remember when Mata Trijata gave me the news", said Sita, tears in
her eyes. "I couldn't believe it. My son could not have fallen. My
Lakhan Laal. And Raghunath was much worse than all of us"
Raghuveer closed His eyes. The memory was vivid.
Shri Ram was closing His eyes, in meditation. Suddenly, He heard the sky
thundering, and He felt as if His soul was torn from Him. He opened
His eyes, and felt like His Lakshman had called out to Him in
distress. That can't be true. His Lakshman was too powerful to fall
and need His help. But why was His heart sinking in despair? And why
did He feel like sobbing and wanting to give up? He can't. Sita
depended on Him. But where is Lakshman. Suddenly, an anxiousness to
see His brother came up on Him. He was about to call someone to bring
Lakshman to Him once Lakshman was done fighting, when Maharaja
Sugreev entered the hut. His face was streaked with tears.
"Maharaj Sugreev? What's wrong?", asked Raghuveer, worry clawing at His heart.
"Prabhu, Saumitra..", said Maharaja Sugreev, tears in his eyes.
"What about Lakshman? What happened?", asked Raghunandan, franctically.
"He is unconscious", said Sugreev.
Hearing this, Shri Ram realised that what He thought wouldn't happen had happened. His Lakshman! He rushed to the open, where Lakshman must be kept. This had to be a trick. Seeing Lakshman unconscious on the floor, the Lord sat down and started calling for Lakshman, asking Lakshman to wake up.
"Lakshman", said Raghuveer, eyes still closed.
"Bhaiya?", asked Lakshman, looking at his elder brother, worried.
"That was the single worst night of my life. When I saw you lying on the
ground, I lost all hope. Without you, I had no strength to fight
Ravan", said Raghunath, tears slowly leaking out of His Lotus eyes. "Bhaiya", said Lakshman, wiping his brother's tears.
"You don't know Lakshman. Without you, I have no meaning to live", said Raghunath. "None at all. Those prahars waiting for Hanuman was
torture. I kept cajoling you to wake up and bring light back into my
life"
"Bhaiya", said Lakshman, tears falling down his eyes. The
two brothers spontaneously moved towards each other and hugged,
crying into one another.
Sita and Urmila smiled at each other, tears in their eyes.
"This is what I told Mata Trijata", said Sita, softly to Urmila. "They
are two bodies."
"But one soul", completed Urmila, for her.
The two sisters sat there, watching both the brothers hug each other.
Later
that night...
Shri Ram was sitting on His balcony, staring at the moon. Sita was with
the Queen mothers, as were the other three sisters. He was waiting
for Lakshman to come. Sighing, He leaned against the cushions,
stretching His legs and closing His eyes. He looked like Lord
Narayana in Yoga Nidra.
Suddenly, He felt someone pressing His feet. Opening His eyes, He saw Lakshman pressing His feet with a smile.
"Lakshman", said Shri Ram.
"Bhaiya", said Lakshman, smiling.
Raghuveer suddenly got up.
"Bhaiya, is something the matter?", asked Lakshman.
"No Lakshman. I am still thinking about when the barchi hit you", said
Raghunath.
"Why Bhaiya? It is in the past", said Lakshman.
"You are my soul Lakshman. How can I forget the time I almost lost my
everything?", asked Raghunandan.
"Bhaiya", said Lakshman, tears finding its way down his cheeks for the second time that day.
"Don't cry, my brother", said Raghava, wiping Lakshman's tears off. "Lakshman?"
"Bhaiya?", asked Lakshman.
"Can I lay on your lap for a while?", asked Raghuveer.
"Always Bhaiya", said Lakshman, allowing Raghunath to lay His head. The world rejoiced seeing Narayana-Adisesha in that position.
'I will die if you ever leave me again brother', thought Shri Ram.
Many many years later...
Raghuveer couldn't believe that He lost the most precious person in His life. He Himself had cut Lakshman off from Himself. He couldn't live anymore. Without Lakshman, He will die. He took a decision. He will do jal samadhi in Sarayu, and meet Lakshman and Sita on the other side. After all, without Lakshman, there is no Ram.
