Amazing thread CC team! Divorce is already such a painful and long process for some and the taboos against divorce worsen the situation.

Brilliant topic and stupendous write up ๐Ÿ‘.

The topic is absolutely relevant in today's time, with society at a crossroad, with surprisingly huge jump in divorce rates and another part of society being all judgemental about the issue.

The whole concept of "Finding Happiness" and getting out of a marriage that if lingered only worsens at every state is still not completely acceptable to the society where trends of "ever after" is given more importance.

The whole discussion on this topic normally turns to "Compromise to karna padta hai for a relationship to work". But then that word "Compromise" is subjective and line where it stops being a compromise is different for everybody is not even considered for before stigmatization and making opinions.

And logically for every arguments of kids getting psychologically damaged coming from broken families, they suffer worse damages, having to live with parents who are unhappy with each other. But, yea as rightly pointed the broken pedestals coz of divorce taboo does nail kid's head coz of society's attitude.

I personally do not believe in Divorce
I however do believe Marriages are made in heaven
certainly there will be problems in a Marriage but both partners
have to work hard and fight for Marriage
no matter how modern life gets but a Marriage should always
have the pillars of Respect , Understanding , Friendship , Trust
Care and Love

So the whole point is what when pillars disappear/shatter, coz these are pretty fragile pillars!!?

Everyone is entitled to have personal opinions, they are formed from life experiences and you could be right from your stand point.

Think about a marriage where the husband does not hold up to his end of respect, understanding, friendship, trust, care or love. Is the wife supposed to carry along as if nothing is wrong. Why should she put up with the abuse of all the above mentioned pillars. This applies to both husband and wife.

It is better to step away from a bad relation and cut the ties when it makes more sense than hold on to a marriage which will only get worse. Society and family will always try to feed off someones misery, that has been the case and will continue to be. But the person who is making the decision to divorce and start a new life will have one less burden of spouse who is deadweight.

Pure indian society has no place for divorce. India is a emotional society and it is quite traumatic to have a divorce..but sadly we are aping a western society and finding all sorts of reasons for self determination... yada yada and as a result finding convincing results for divorce... having said that we have today landed ourselves in the situation where we have managed to create justifiable circumstances for a divorce... so as this debate goes on... on and on.. it will never tip over the traditional weightage  of  married sufferers meaning we will never have a society full of divorcee and minorty married couples.. we will perenially be in this state of confusion until... woman can freely walk topless out in the open...without the men molesting them!!!
