[Here be spoilers, if you haven't watched!]
The first episode of this short series is up - 16 minutes 52 seconds!
A revisit of the epic series that we STILL can't seem to forget.
ASR wakes up to find his wife missing... Hari Prakash hands him a tablet with a video message from Khushi - she's angry that he's forgotten their third wedding anniversary. And we learn, ASR has a history of forgetting the date and messing up big time. This year, Khushi is mad even before he messes it up :D
And then, as he decorates the house with pink balloons and whatnot, we have ASR reminiscing with us about their love story - how they met, how he couldn't believe their relationship grew in spite of that first bitter meeting, the day he saw Khushi in that red saree...
Next time, we see ASR receiving a letter...
My reactions:
It was ok - maybe a 7/10.
Positives
On the plus side - BARUN! Looking cool, dapper, chatty, comfortable - and his voice modulations, sigh! are spot on. He is really a fabulous actor.
The house wala set - looking passably like the Raizada Mansion we remember. Quite nice!
Hari Prakash - a funny part with great lines, and doing it well too!
And ASR receives a call from the ever-ghostly Aman as well, so they're ticking off a lot of boxes here!
Khushi is as hyper as ever - and make me cringe as usual, so that's a job well done. Sanaya has managed to remember exactly how Khushi used to be.
Negatives (IMO)
The Walk Down Memory Lane format.
They break the fourth wall by having ASR chat with us. And he keeps saying "Aapko yaad hai?" which is a downer for me - the scenes are legendary but ASR isn't supposed to KNOW that. Because then it becomes a romance that's on show for the whole world, not just a narrative I'm peeping into - TV is an intimate experience, and this makes it too public.
ASR is a touch too mellow. Domesticated pussy cat, almost! I mean, he gets his own coffee because Khushi says so! Now, come on!
Flashbacks - they take up quite a bit of those 16.52 minutes, when I was so greedy for fresh content!
But, but, but
good job, Star Plus and Production House,
