He pulled her closer to him in the heat
of the moment
His proximity was too much for her to
bear
They both began breathing heavily,
Her heartbeat drumming against her chest
This was it...finally it was about to
happen...their first kiss.
Her eyesight was jumping in & out of
focus
Paving the audacious path from his eyes
to his lips & back to his eyes
Waiting...hoping...wanting...
His eyes were intense like he could see
through her soul
Like a world didn't exist for him beyond
her
Like she was all he ever wanted to
see...ever wanted to touch
...all that he had craved for all his
life
He was slowly closing the distance
between them
His long locks of hair breezing towards
her...tickling her forehead
His breath heavy...like a sedative...
mingling with her senses...
His grip tightening around her
waist...pulling her closer to the warmth of his body...
They had gotten this far before...but
then he would snap out of it and distance himself immediately
And every fibre in her body would crave
for him to come back...to close in the space between them...
She was ready...She had always been for
him...and she knew she would always be...
But he had inhibitions...she didn't know
why...He would always pull away...
What was he afraid of??
She knew the intensity of his feelings
for her...
She knew the way she affected him at
times
Her mere touch would make him jump out
of his skin & he would immediately put some distance between them
She knew the way he looked at her lips
She knew exactly what he was thinking at
those moments
Thinking how sweet her raspberry
lipstick might taste
She knew the way his breathing would go
erratic every single time she came too close
Like a tornado fuelling a wildfire in
her body
She knew the fervour in his firm grip
that held her fragile frame so close to him
Like he would never let go of her
She knew how much she mattered to him at
times
The way he would breathe her in...
Like she was his oxygen...vital...like
his life depended on her...She knew...
It was all there...all happening
again...in that moment...now...
She was hoping...praying...he wouldn't
come to his senses
That he wouldn't hold back...
"Not this time please...Dont hold
back..."
"I need you, I love you, don't you get
it...? I love you sooo much...Please don't hold back "she was screaming on
the inside
But frozen on the outside...captivated
in him...waiting...wanting...dizzily drowning in him
Her mind was fogging, heady with his
intoxicating breath
His eyes were fixated on her parted
lips... now trembling under his
passionate gaze...
...Anticipating the tingling sensation
that would run through the course of her being with the first soft touch of his
lips...
He was moving in... Coming closer and
closer...this was it...she couldn't take it any more...
...her eyes closed of their own
accord...and she lifted her face closer to him..Surrendering...
CUT
The director yelled...
In a flash of a second he had moved away
from her...
Taking every inch of her soul with him
Leaving her bereft
She opened her eyes quickly, turned her
back to him and hastily gestured towards her make-up dada for touch-up... reeling
from the inertia of the moment...acclimatising herself to the void now present
between them...
The director was applauding them for the
shot that they has just given
But it was all incoherent rambling for
her...
The moment had passed...
What was she thinking? How could she let
herself get so carried away?
She knew the scene...She knew the
nuances...she knew the lines
That moment was never going to go beyond
that
It's just an act...it always was... and it
will always be...she knew that too...
Senseless fiction...Epitomising her
emotions...Leaving her incomplete...always
A frown had appeared on her face
His conversation with the director had
ended, and the scene had turned out to be perfect
He started moving away from
her...holding his lines for the next group scene...
She too took her script and started to
feign memorizing while walking away from him
"Vrushika? "He called out to her...
She turned around to look at him with a
frown
His eyes were glinting with some unnamed
emotion...
"Group dance rehearsals after shoot. Come
on time, or else!" He teased, making a playful punching gesture in the air
towards her with his fist
...but stopped mid-way, assessed her expressions
and immediately his face lit up with a mysterious, triumphant yet innocent
smile...
And she came alive once again...
Mirroring his innocence and smiling
thoughtlessly back at him...
"Make-up queen!"he teased
"Shut up... you know taking off this
makeup takes time" she retorted, punching him for real in his arm
"Why would I know? I don't want to know"
he grimaced, smiling at her with twinkling eyes, and walked away towards his
vanity...with a slight bounce in his steps
Leaving her smiling & hoping...
Hoping against all hope...
That maybe just maybe... someday... he
would know what these moments of intertwining reality and fiction really meant
to her...
Maybe just maybe... someday ...he would
know that he is the one...
Maybe just maybe... someday... he would
see how much she loves him...
Maybe just maybe...Shantanu...Someday...that
moment would complete itself for real...
