Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, the Indian version of Strictly Come Dancing. A dance competition in which a celebrity and choreographer are paired together; and they compete to win the trophy. A show where ultimately the winner is decided based on both scores and votes. Well this is what we are told but the fact is that reality is not always the same. It is not an unknown fact that reality shows are scripted and everyone is a puppet; all the strings are pulled from the top.

This is the first time we have watched a full season of Jhalak and it had many loopholes; here are just some questions that came to mind:

• Why were Shahid and Ganesh's comments on Sanaya's performance not shown in the finale?
• Why in each season are non-dancers competing with trained dancers?
• What is the weightage between SMS votes and online votes?
• How many votes were the contestants getting each week?
• Why at times was there a lack of consistency between judges' comments and scores?
• Why was the immunity ball given to a contestant before all performances had been seen?

At this point are we looking for answers? The answer is a simple no because JDJ is now over and we do not intend to watch the next season. However, we wanted to pen down our thoughts on the current season of JDJ.

Episode filming:

Coming to the filming of the episode itself, the days were extremely long. For example during the finale shoot Saij was on the sets from 9am to 3.30am the next day. During the finale the shooting of the episode had started and finished later than planned. We felt it could be better organised. Also the order of the shoot is not always the order in which it is shown on television and after editing some scenes are not shown at all. We understand it takes a lot of work to organise such shows but there is always room for improvement.

Sanaya:

We have already written our reviews on Sanaya's final performances on Facebook. In addition to this we would like to say that in our opinion, we feel Sanaya was given lower scores due to her popularity and high number of votes. Another thing that made no logical sense was to remove Shahid and Ganesh's comments on Sanaya's finale act, although most were on repeat mode and had said that the act did not match up to the perfection of the previous aerial act. We highly disagreed with their comments. On that topic, there have been other occasions where the judges' comments and scores have not been consistent. This anomaly was noticed by the viewers yet it continued.

Sanaya has never been the one to complain about her injuries and she had mentioned this in the recent interview with TeamSarun as well. So prior to her dance with Shahid she had requested two minutes to change due to the pain caused by the outfit. However, the production team was reluctant as they wanted to continue the shoot and so Sanaya agreed to continue. Sanaya is truly a professional.

There is also the issue of scenes being lost in editing. One important scene that was omitted was Sanaya's comment were she states that she was the one to provide the entertainment on JDJ. A very fair and apt statement by Sanaya, she was the only contestant who made JDJ worth watching!!

Towards the end Sanaya had said she deserves to win as she has put in the most amount of work. For Sanaya, she grew from a non-dancer to a dancer in the last three months. Her growth during the journey was very impressive and this was due to her dedication and hard work. Had she been a dancer already she would have been at an advantage of knowing the technical skills. So the same question arises, is it fair to have a non-dancer and a trained dancer competing with each other?

One question that we came across many times in the past three months was why Sanaya had not been given a more experienced choreographer like Salman. Although we have only seen Salman's work twice, once during Drashti and Sanaya's performance in an earlier season and the other time when he choreographed one of the episodes in the current season. On the basis of this, we felt Salman is an excellent dancer. So for a non-dancer, we feel that a more experienced choreographer would only be fair especially when competing with trained dancers.

Final Decision:

We were also asked what the basis of the final decision was. At first even we were baffled but then one of our friends told us that last year there were complaints against Jhalak for only making TV stars a winner. So it seems that this year they were determined to make the winner a non TV star. Earlier there were rumours that Shamita would win however those rumours died down. Then during the finale we came to know that the winner had already been decided. Coming to final decision, regardless of what one thinks of JDJ one should remember that even Faisal worked hard and one should refrain from any negativity. Also bear in mind that even Sanaya was happy for Faisal too.

The show is now over and we may not be happy with the final result but Sanaya will always be a winner for us. We all know she worked very hard and with full sincerity. No trophy is required to prove that Sanaya is the winner for millions of fans globally, now and forever. We are sure there are bigger and better things waiting for her!! So on this note; please do not give a reason for Sanaya to be put in a rather awkward situation by abusing people associated with JDJ. Remember one thing ... real winners are the ones who don't quit despite the odds.'
