As far as I can remember, and I have been recently reminded of (watching all the old promos), YHM's soul belongs to 2 ideas: Nature vs Nurture (IshRu) and a Second chance at love & life (IshRa + IshRaRu).
Surrogacy, as a concept alone, murders both these ideas, and hence the soul of the show, cold-bloodedly. With Shagun being the surrogate, they'll bury the dead remains of this soul in a far-away land, never to be traced.
If they only need drama, I believe there is A LOT OF drama in Ishita's struggle and pregnancy. Ishita-Raman's equation, Ishita-Ruhi's bond, Adi-Ruhi-Raman's connect, Ishita-Adi's relationship - everything should and WILL get questioned, and immense emotional drama can be created around each of these threads.
But divorce, remarriage, infertility, and surrogacy are not light issues to be mocked at by taking creative liberties just for the sake of drama. For all they know, they could send out a strong message and be an inspiration for so many real people out there fighting these problems.
And logically speaking, if she can't get pregnant, she already has 2 adorable kids who love her so much, and whom she loves so much, esp. Ruhi, who she claims has given her, her life back, why does she even need a 3rd surrogate kid?
Seeing SBS, I'm very fearful if Ishita's going to hide this news from Raman. She has done it time and again, and if they again show her as the Queen of Sacrifice Female Lead who would herself get a surrogate because Raman wants a 3rd kid - Biggest W*F moment!
