Armaan and Riddhima get a little hot and heavy in the fire escape. Armaan tells Riddhima about his college reunion and the plan to make Muskaan jealous. Riddhima introduces Billy to the new interns.

Chapter 59

In the evening, everyone was getting ready in their greenrooms. The concert was going to start in sometime and it was sheer panic everywhere with people running around, checking on last minute stuff.

"Ridzy, help me na! Anjy called her sister, wanting her to help tie the strings on the back of her dress.

"Haan di. Dijiye, main kar deti hu, Riddhima replied. She was already dressed in her performance clothes and had huge rollers in her head, setting her hair.

The girls helped each other in getting ready, laughing and giggling the entire time as they recounted stories and jokes.

On the other hand, the atmosphere in the boys' changing room was the opposite. The guys were all lying down around the room, lazing as Rahul whined, telling them all his woes.

"Meri toh life hi jhand ho gayi hai, Rahul cribbed.

"Abbe yaar! Armaan exclaimed, finally irritated. "Tu kyu sabke mood ki aisi ki taisi kar raha hai? Jabse Devdas ki tarah pada hai. Tujhe bola na, teri setting kara dunga. Kyu itna load le raha hai?

Rahul nodded miserably.

On hearing what Armaan was saying, Atul sprang up. He walked to Armaan and sat on his stomach.

"Saale! He exclaimed. "Tu iss Rahul ki setting kar raha hai? He asked, pointing an accusatory finger at Rahul.

Armaan nodded. "Haan, kyu? He asked.

"Aur mera kya?! Atul exclaimed. "Mera aur Anjali ka kya?

"Kya? Armaan asked. "Aur tu please, mere upar se uthega? Aur baithne ki jagah hai yahaan!

"Kyu? Main kyu uthu? Abhi agar Ridzy hoti toh tu kehta kya? Atul asked.

"Haan, par tu Riddhima nahi haina? Toh please uth! Armaan replied.

"Haan, lekin main tera Champ toh hu na! Yehi teri dosti, yehi tera pyaar? Atul bellowed dramatically.

While Abhi and Rahul shook their heads at the exchange, Yuvi and Sid looked on incredulously. They knew their seniors were a fun loving bunch, but this? It was a little too much.

Finally fed up of Atul, Armaan pushed him off himself and Atul fell on the ground.

"Tune mujhe dhakka maara? Atul asked, scandalous. "Apne Champ ko?

"Champ, tu uth hi nahi raha tha. Kya karta main? Armaan asked.

"Rehne de Armaan. Ab mujhe tujhse koi baat nahi karni, Atul said, turning away from Armaan and getting up. "Ab sirf Rahul hi mera dost hai.

"Haan. Jaa uske paas. Jaa. Wohi teri setting karayega Anjali ke saath. Khudka toh kuch ho nahi raha hai, Armaan taunted.

Atul immediately backtracked on hearing that.

"Nahi, nahi. Tu... Tu toh mera bhai haina Armaan? Mujhe aise thodi chodega? Atul said, standing next to Armaan and throwing his arm around Armaan's shoulder. "Tu meri aur Anjali ki poori setting karke dega. Haina? He asked, looking at Armaan with his big, innocent eyes.

"Theek hai, theek hai, Armaan replied flippantly.

"Mujhe pata tha! Mera bhai mera saath kabhi nahi chodega! Rahul, kameene, kuch seekhle Armaan se, Atul taunted. Rahul gave him a What Did I Do?' expression and Armaan laughed. His laughter stopped abruptly when Atul laid a smacking kiss on his cheek. Armaan immediately pulled away from Atul, rubbing his cheek vigorously.

"Kya yaar, Champ! Tujhe kitni baar bola hai, yeh sab mat kiya kar, Armaan complained.

"Agar tum sab ka ho gaya ho toh ready ho jaaye? Abhi asked, knowing that if he didn't intervene, these people would go on forever.

The three boys looked at each other sheepishly and nodded. "Thank you, Abhi replied sarcastically.

They quickly changed into their performance outfits, each of them looking amazingly handsome.

"Sabse pehle kaun perform kar raha hai? Rahul asked.

"Sabse pehle yeh interns ki group performance hai, fir Naina aur Yuvi ka couple dance, fir Nikki aur Abhi, fir Atul aur Anjali and last mein Basket aur main. Fir end mein humaara group performance. Beech beech mein woh jo doosre doctors hain, unke bhi 1-2 group performances hai, lekin opening and closing humaari hai, Armaan explained. The boys nodded.

Then, Armaan turned to Sid and Yuvi, looking all stern and strict. "Boys, yeh humaari izzat ka sawaal hai. Achche se perform karna. Ek bhi galti nahi honi chahiye. Samjhe? He asked them.

Sid and Yuvi looked at each other, scared, before gulping and nodding frantically. "Good, Armaan replied in the same intimidating voice.

Here, Muskaan did the same with the girls.

A few minutes before the show was set to start, the boys and girls assembled in the wings to wish each other good luck. It was a sight to see all these girls who weren't even dressed properly - Nikki was yet to do her hair, Muskaan was halfway done, Anjali had to finish applying her makeup and Riddhima had only managed to put on her outfit - staring everyone down. The gang gave the interns a much needed pep talk before the girls rushed back to finish getting dressed.

Dr. Shubhankar and Dr. Keerti started the show.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, Dr. Keerti greeted. "Aaj aap sab humaare saath shaamil hue, humein bohot achcha laga. Waise toh Sanjeevani India ke leading hospitals mein se ek hai, lekin humaare staff members, sirf achche doctors hi nahi, balki bohot achche performers bhi hai. Aur woh sab aaj yeh show kar rahe hain, aap sabko thank karne ke liye. Hum sab jaante hai ki peechle 2 saalon mein Sanjeevani ki financial crisis kaafi badh gayi thi. Aap sabne tab humaari bohot madad ki thi, jiski wajah se aaj Sanjeevani mein sab theek hai. Jo aapne humaare liye kiya hai, uske saamne yeh thank you bohot chota hai, lekin humne ke koshish ki hai. Sanjeevani sirf woh jagah nahi hai jahaan hum kaam karte hain. Sanjeevani humaara ghar hai. Aur, humaare ghar ko bachaane mein humaari help karne ke liye, aaj hum aap sabka poore dil se shukriya ada karte hai. Thank you!

The audience cheered.

"Yes! Toh aaj ki shaam aap sabke naam, Dr. Shubhankar took over. "Aur, yeh shuruaat karenge humaari is family ke sabse naye members. Please give a huge round of applause for our interns - Sid, Naina, Yuvi, Suvarna & JP!

"Sid bhaiya, humse kuch galti toh nahi hogi na? JP asked, nervous.

"Chill JP! Kuch nahi hoga, Sid replied. "Hum log bohot achche se perform karenge.

The lights dimmed and the new interns took positions.

The interns had chosen this song to perform to as a testament to their budding friendship. They'd become really good friends over the past year, had gotten really close to each other, even fallen in love. And this song seemed like the perfect way to showcase that. Armaan had been thrilled with their song choice and had helped them tirelessly, along with Anjali to set their choreography. Now, standing in the wings, watching them perform so well, he felt satisfied.

Once the performance was over, the interns rushed backstage and everyone ploughed Armaan in a huge hug as thanks.

"Did we do good, Bhai? Yuvi asked him, desperate to know if Armaan had liked their performance.

"You guys killed it! Armaan exclaimed. "So good! I toh loved it! He told them.

Everyone cheered on hearing that.

"Okay, guys. Scram! Yuvi, Naina, get dressed for your next performance, it's right after this group performs, Rahul instructed. Yuvi and Naina nodded and left for their respective changing rooms while the others, done with their performance for the night, decided to stay back and watch. Anjali was dressed by then and came out, followed soon by Muskaan.

Rahul looked at Muskaan and moved towards her, but looking at Rahul, Muskaan turned around and engaged herself in conversation with Sid, a clear indicator that she didn't want to talk. Sid, oblivious to the tension between the two, blabbered on as Muskaan encouraged him.

Of all the people in the gang, RaMusk were the only couple who weren't performing solo because Muskaan had vehemently vetoed the idea. When it was brought up that Armaan & Riddhima and Nikki & Abhi would be having their own couple performances apart from the group act they were doing, Atul had pleaded with Anjali to perform with him too and she had given in with little persuasion. Muskaan, however, had completely refused to participate in the discussion, stating that she didn't want any part of it and that she was happy with her group performance with the gang.

Knowing about all the issues between them, none of the others had thought it was a good idea to push on these things and so, they'd let it be.

Looking at them right now, Armaan wished that he'd done something to talk them into performing together. Maybe things would have been better, he thought, sighing. But, what was done was done. He couldn't do anything about it now. He just had to make sure that this reunion plan panned out the way he wanted it to.

As the gang stood by, contemplating, Dr. Keerti invited the next act on stage. It was some of the other doctors from Sanjeevani, people with whom the gang had little contact. They did a group performance on some masala number which was in. Then, it was time for Yuvi and Naina's performance.

"All the best, guys, everyone wished the two of them as they made their way to the stage. Yuvi and Naina thanked everyone and then went on stage to perform.

"Ab jo humaari next performance hai, it's by the cutest and youngest couple in Sanjeevani. Yeh dono ek doosre se ladte hain, lekin pyaar bhi bohot karte hai. Please welcome, Yuvi & Naina! Dr. Shubhankar cheered. Yuvi and Naina looked at each other and nodded in camaraderie.

The audience cheered loudly when they were done. Yuvi and Naina looked on, surprised. They took a bow and then made their way backstage.

"Wow yaar, Yuvi! Mujhe nahi pata tha tu utna achcha dancer hai! Sid exclaimed as soon as he saw them.

Yuvi smiled. "Thanks yaar, Sid. Main bohot hi zyada nervous tha lekin achche se ho gaya. Thank God!

"Waise, Naina, Armaan cut in, putting his arm around her shoulder. "Not bad, haan. I'm impressed.

"Thank you, jeeja ji, She teased. If Yuvi called Riddhima Bhabhi, Naina wasn't far behind. She'd started calling Armaan Jeeju and Armaan blushed. Every single time. Something that the other girls had caught on. So, they called him that too, just to see him go red. Come on, it's not everyday you see Armaan Mallik blush, so you have to take what you can get.

"There's the blush! Anjy cheered, as Armaan, predictably, flushed on hearing Naina call him Jeeja Ji.

"Okay, can you stop? Armaan asked. "It's not necessary to tease me all the time.

"Never, Muskaan replied. "Oyye Hero, kabhi toh mauka milta hai tujhe chedne ka. Agar tujhe lagta hai ki hum woh chod denge toh tu bilkul galat sochta hai. Samjha?

Armaan nodded like an obedient kid.

"Di! Riddhima cried, entering the wings. She was not ready yet, but she'd come to wish Anjali and Atul good luck. "All the best! Riddhima wished, hugging Anjali.

"Thank you, Ridzy! Anjali replied, hugging her back.

Then, Riddhima moved to Atul and hugged him as well, wishing him good luck.

"Yuvi, Naina, tum dono ka performance bohot hi achcha tha, Riddhima told them. "Main aur Nikki green room se dekh rahe the.

"Thank you, Di! Naina replied, hugging Riddhima.

They all turned to the stage as Dr. Keerti made the announcement to call Atul and Anjali on stage. "Ab jo hummari next performance hai, woh humaare resident doctors ki pehli performance hai. Yeh dono bohot hi achche dost hain. Please welcome, Dr. Atul & Dr. Anjali! She said.

"Wow! Anjy tune kitna mast dance kiya yaar! Muskaan shouted as soon as Anjali and Atul got backstage.

"Thank you, Muski! Anjali replied, hugging her.

Atul looked on with a sweet smile on his face. "Aur maine kaisa kiya Muskaan? He asked her.

"Tu... theek hi tha, Muskaan replied. "Waise bhi Anjy ke saamne tujhe kaun dekhega? She asked rhetorically.

Before Atul could say anything, Rahul butted in. "Kyu? Kyu koi nahi dekhega? Kya kami hai humaare Champ mein? He asked Muskaan.

"Oyye tu... Kaankhajure, tu toh rehne hi de. Kameena kahin ka. Tu beech mein  kyu pad raha hai? Muskaan asked him angrily, momentarily forgetting everything else.

"Kyu nahi bolu? Bhai hai mera Atul. Uske liye toh bolunga hi, Rahul fired back. Before anyone could get a word edgewise, they were at each other's throats, pulling and pushing.

Sensing that the situation could get out of hand quickly and noticing Dr. Keerti's glare on him, Armaan moved to separate the two of them.

"Guys! Stop it! He shouted the two, pushing them apart. "Abhi lado mat. Performances ho rahe hai. Aur tumhaare costume aur  make up kharab ho rahe hai. Apni World War III baad mein continue karna.

They stood back, standing like obedient kids and nodded. "Good.

Nikki had come out by then. She and Abhi were going to be performing next. Armaan sidled next to her.

"All the best, Miss Wow, he wished her, kissing her temple.

"Thank you, Mr. Supercool, Nikki replied laughing. "And, it's Mrs now. Not Miss.

Armaan scoffed and waved his hands. "You'll always be Miss Wow to me. Even when your kids have kids, he said, rubbing his hand over her slightly prominent belly.

"You're so cute, Armaan! Nikki blubbered as she pulled his cheeks. "See! She exclaimed, wiping her tears. "You're making me emotional. Pregnant hu yaar. Thoda dhyaan rakh.

Armaan laughed at that.

"Okay. So ab waqt hai humaare newly married couple ke performance ka. Yeh humaari family ke sabse new husband wife hain. Aur bohot jald ab inki family badhne waali hai. Hum sab inke liye bohot bohot bohot khush hain. So, presenting, Dr. Abhimanyu & Dr. Nikita! Dr. Shubhankar announced.

After the announcement, Abhi & Nikki made their way to the stage.  Seeing everyone engrossed, Armaan quickly slipped away. Rahul noticed him leaving but just shook his head at Armaan fondly.

Armaan sneakily made his way to the Girls' Green Room, thankful that it was finally empty apart from Riddhima. They hadn't gotten any time to themselves the whole day. In the morning, Riddhima had been busy entertaining Billy who seemed to want to meet every single person in the hospital. At lunch, Billy had taken Riddhima out on a father - daughter' date and Armaan had not been invited to the same, despite numerous protests from him.

And then, come evening, everyone had been running around, prepping for the concert. In all this, Basket had not even spoken two words to him properly since he'd cornered her in the Fire Escape in the morning. He was suffering from serious withdrawals.

Riddhima was applying final touches to her makeup in front of the mirror when Armaan arrived. She hadn't seen him enter and she was so busy in getting ready that she didn't pay attention. Taking advantage of the fact, Armaan creeped behind her in slow steps and hugged her by the waist, burying his head in her shoulder.

"Armaan! Riddhima cried, startled.

"Hmmm, Armaan answered non committally, nuzzling in her neck.

"Kya... kya kar rahe ho? Riddhima asked, her voice a breathless whisper.

"Pch! Kya Basket! Armaan cried, looking up, meeting her eyes in the mirror. "Tumhe nahi pata main kya kar raha hu? He asked rhetorically. Saying so, he buried his face in her neck again, leaving open mouthed kisses in his wake, setting Riddhima's body on fire.

"Ar... Armaan, Riddhima whispered again.

"Shhh, he whispered against her skin, his hot breath fanning over her, making her weak in the knees. Armaan's lips travelled upwards, making a trail from her neck to her earlobe and back again, all the time leaving wet, open mouthed kisses. Riddhima reached behind and tangled her fingers in his hair, pushing it in, urging him forward.

They didn't even know how long they just stood there kissing, but were pulled from their activities by Armaan's phone ringing.

Armaan made a noise of discontent, but didn't pull away from Riddhima, continuing to lick and suck and kiss her neck to her mouth. Riddhima tried to back away, but Armaan was having none of it  and would promptly close any distance that she created. After few tries, Riddhima gave up, enjoying the closeness between her and Armaan. When the phone stopped ringing, Armaan made a happy sound in the back of his throat and kissed Riddhima harder. Riddhima responded by pulling the hair at the back of his neck with more fervour. Not even a minute had passed, when Armaan's phone began ringing again. A few seconds later, Riddhima's phone began ringing too.

Armaan, annoyed as hell, pulled back and answered his phone.

"What? He barked.

"Armaan, you're on in like, two. Stop kissing Riddhima and get here, Rahul's voice floated from the other end.

"Oh! Armaan exclaimed, his tone apologetic. "We'll be there. Bas 2 minute sabko thoda distract karde, please? He begged.

Rahul sighed but replied in affirmative. "Kabhi nahi sudhrega, he whispered to himself.

When he indicated to Dr. Shubhankar that Armaan and Riddhima weren't ready yet, Dr. Shubhankar panicked.

"Arre, aise kaise? Abhi aur Nikki ki performance almost khatam ho gayi hai, Dr. Shubhankar said, indicating towards the stage where Abhi & Nikki were dancing. (Just imagine their performance is like Armaan & Nikki's from the concert on the show.)

Rahul nodded helplessly. "Sir, bas 2 minute. Woh dono aa hi rahe hain. Aap please bas aise hi kuch bolte rahiye. Thoda aur thank you bol dijiye. Ya Dr. Shashank ke baare mein baat kar lijiye. Bas 2 minute. Please, sir, Rahul pleaded.

Dr. Keerti who had heard the exchange, assured Rahul that she would hold fort, but Armaan and Riddhima better get there quick. Rahul nodded repeatedly, scared out of his mind.

Thankfully, Armaan and Riddhima did get there in time for their performance as Dr. Keerti regaled some nonsense about current events in a bid to keep the crowd occupied. Seeing them enter, Rahul gestured to Dr. Keerti who sighed in relief.

"Aur ab... Aaj ka last couple performance. Yeh Sanjeevani ki evergreen jodi hai. Inki kahani kisi Bollywood se kam nahi hai. Itni mushkilein aur problems face karke bhi aaj yeh dono saath hai. Sanjeevani ke har couple ke liye yeh ek inspiration hai. Aur toh aur, humaare Sanjeevani ke sabse loved couple hone ke saath saath, yeh dono humaare sabse promising doctors hai aur poore hospital mein sabke achche dost bhi. Toh, ab, main invite karna chahungi Dr. Armaan aur Dr. Riddhima ko. Please, give them a huge round of applause!

"All the best guys! chorused around them as Armaan and Riddhima moved to the stage. They thanked their friends before taking their place on the stage.

Applause rung throughout the hall after the performance was over. Armaan and Riddhima looked at each and smiled widely before Armaan pulled Riddhima in a bear hug. Breaking apart, they bowed to the audience before moving backstage.

Dr. Keerti and Dr. shubhankar came back on stage and congratulated  AR on the performance and called a group act to stage.

"Guys! That was so good, Nikki exclaimed, moving to hug Riddhima as soon as they were visible. Armaan stood back, grinning wide, as he saw the two most important ladies in his life jabber on.

"Armaan, mere bhai! Atul exclaimed, pulling Armaan into a hug, knocking the wind out of him. "Bohot hi achcha performance tha, yaar, Atul said, pulling back. "Tu aur Ridzi kya mast lag rahe the.

"Thanks, Champ! Armaan replied, smiling. Atul was the best.

Congratulations rung around as the gang wished Armaan and Riddhima for their performance. Armaan was soaking it all up, laughing and joking with the rest of them as Riddhima just stood and looked on. It was so nice to see all her friends together and so happy. They'd been so busy lately, with so much to do, that even when they were together, that tension hung in the air. But, today, everyone  was happy and riding on the high of a great show. They felt light, like the people she'd met when they were just starting at Sanjeevani. She liked that a lot. She hoped that the upcoming holiday gave them their much needed relief.

After playing around for a little while, Armaan & Riddhima and Abhi & Nikki went to their respective green rooms to change for their last act as the others were already changed.

When they came back, Dr. Keerti was introducing their act.

"Aur ab, aaj shaam ki aakhri performance. Aap sab aaj humaare is parivaar ke saare sadasyon se mile, lekin yeh humaare sabse pyaare  members hain. Agar hum kahein ki yeh Sanjeevani ki jaan hai, toh galat nahi hoga. Inhone Sanjeevani ke har member, patient aur staff ke dil mein apni khaas jagah banayi hai. Itne bade ho gaye hain, lekin abhi bhi bachchon ki tarah har choti baat par jhagadte hain. Kabhi kabhi toh Sanjeevani ko apne personal playground ki tarah treat karte hain. Lekin, agar Sanjeevani ya uske kisi bhi member ki taraf koi aankh uthakar bhi dekhe, toh sabke saamne khade ho jaate hain, Sanjeevani ke liye duniya se bhi lad sakte hain. Inke bina kabhi bhi yeh hospital Sanjeevani nahi ban sakta. Toh aaj, hum sab Sanjeevani waale, inhe thank you kehna chahte hain, Dr. Keerti said. Then, she turned to the wings where the gang was waiting to be called on. "Thank you, she told them, looking each one in the eye. "Aap sab jitna Sanjeevani se pyaar karte hain, utna koi aur nahi kar sakta. Aur hum sab bohot lucky hain ki humein aapke jaise dost mile hain. Turning back to the audience, she said, "So, lets have a huge round of applause for Dr. Armaan, Riddhima, Atul, Rahul, Muskaan, Anjali, Nikki & Abhi.

Saying so, she walked off the stage with Dr. Shubhankar in tow.

Pulling back, the gang turned to face the audience and holding hands, took a bow. "Thank you! They screamed together.

The gang left the stage and Dr. Keerti and Dr. Shubhankar came back on, thanking everyone for being such a good audience and promising another show soon.

"That was so good! Dr. Keerti said as she came backstage where the gang was macking around, still on the high of their performance. "Aap sabke performances bohot achche the, she said.

"Thank you so much, Dr. Keerti, the gang chorussed.

After playing around for some more time, everyone departed, looking forward to some rest after all the madness.
