Amidst all the " he done it", " she done it" posts, I just wanted to acknowledge something pathbreaking and revolutionary about the female voice we are witnessing in this show
The last few episodes we have seen Manik and Nandini moving towards physical intimacy.
Sheltered and shy Nandini has given voice to her feelings. She is not feeling guilty about feeling these emotions and why should she? She is in love, just as a man feels the need to be intimate, she too feels the need to be intimate with the man she loves. The writing of her voice the last few days has been decisive and bold and pathbreaking. She is no coy, mopey abla nari but a shy 18 year old on the cusp of womanhood who knows her mind. In her veins, runs blood like any other human being, her heart races when he kisses her , her love for him makes her seek the intimacy and she is not afraid to acknowledge it. While she is not ready yet to take the next step, she offers no apologies for her feelings of desire. And yet through it all she is like a fledgling waiting to take flight, poised on the brink of her nest, lapping up the open breeze, and when she does take flight, she will fly with the conviction of her feelings, her feelings of what she wants and her feelings about what she feels for him!
Kudos to the show for giving us the voice, for the acknowledgment that women too have feelings and desires. For not showing a coy and helpless girl but a bold but shy girl, confident of her feelings.
