Biography

Film

In May 2006, Patel made his Bollywood dbut with the film 36 China Town, directed by the duo Abbas-Mustan.

His next Bollywood movie, Namastey London, released in March 2007, where Patel played the character of a Pakistani Muslim living in London. In April 2007, his third film Shakalaka Boom Boom was released, which was produced and directed by Suneel Darshan.

In his next movie, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, he played the role of a struggling model hoping to make it big. Patel made a guest appearance in the March 2008 film, One Two Three.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, was released in November 2009.

Patel made his Tamil film dbut with the movie, I. Released in January 2015, it was directed by S. Shankar.

Television

Patel worked for the weekly cooking show Cook Na Kaho on Star One. The show started in November 2004, and the concept was inspired from Karen Anand's popular book Simple Cooking For Stupid Men. About the show, Patel said in an interview, "The show is aimed at bachelors who want to whip up something at home that takes very little time but doesn't taste like what the cat dragged in." In March 2005, he was replaced by Shayan Munshi.

Patel is presently working with Endemol for their daily reality television show, Bigg Boss as a contestant. The show, currently in its 8th season, is based on Dutch-based TV series Big Brother, where a group of celebrities live together in a big house, completely isolated from the outside world and vie for cash prize in the end. One contestant is eliminated each week, based on public votes. The show went on air in September 2014 on Colors. Upen exited the Bigg Boss house on Day 102 but returned in the Bigg Boss Halla Bol episode as a wild card entrant where he became romantic & expressed his feelings towards Karishma Tanna. Patel said he travelled to India to participate in the show to "gain experience". The host of the show, Salman Khan, replied, "This place (Bigg Boss) gives an experience like no other." NDTV commented that he participated in the show to give his career a boost, and that with this show he'd be "trailing a second innings".Nowadays, he is participating in Nach baliye 7 along with Karishma tanna.

Other work

Patel was judged as the Model of the Year for four consecutive years at the Asia Fashion Award, and was featured among the top 10 sexiest men in Asia for five years running. MTV India awarded him as the most stylish male for two years in a row.

Patel has appeared in several music videos including DJ Suketu's Kya khoob lagti ho in 2005. The music video, with several special effects, was directed and choreographed by Ahmed Khan. It was the most expensive music video of its time shot for a private album.

Television career

Tanna came into limelight with Balaji Telefilms' soap opera on Star Plus, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi[3] (July 2000 - November 2008), and is claimed for her fun character, Indu. According to a report published by the BBC, "In millions of homes across the country, families reorganised their daily routines to ensure they didn't miss out on the show."

She appeared in Balaji Telefilms' drama production, Kahi To Milenge (November 2002 - 2003) on Sahara One.

Tanna worked as the lead female actress for the TV series Koi Dil Mein Hai (December 2003 - February 2005) on Sony as Krutika. Produced by Balaji Telefilms. Tanna signed up with project while still working for Kyunki Saas bhi kabhi bahu thi, as her role in Kyunki was not that of a major character. Moreover, Kkoi Dil Mein Hai was a weekly show

Tanna worked for the TV program Ek Ladki Anjaani Si on Sony (November 2005 - September 2007) playing the negative character Ayesha.

Tanna was also part of Rajshri Productions show Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam (April 2006 - September 2006) on Star Plus[9] and starred Barkha Bisht and Indraneil Sengupta in the lead roles.

BR Films signed her up for their drama TV series, Viraasat (June 2006 - July 2007), that was originally started airing on Star Plus, but was later moved to Star One.[9] She played the role of Natasha, a secretary of a lead character played by Rohit Roy.

Tanna participated in stage-based comedy TV series Comedy Circus season 1 that started in June 2007 on Sony TV. She later came back in Comedy Circus Mahasangram in February 2010.

Tanna hosted a magic-based reality TV show, India's Magic Star, that went on air in July 2010 on Star One, where the judging panel included Jackie Shroff and Franz Harary.She has also acted in TV production for children, Baal Veer (October 2012 - present), on SAB TV playing the role of Rani Pari. However, she quit the show in February 2013

Tanna was the 1st runner up on a celebrity reality TV show, Bigg Boss 8, on Colors, which started airing in September 2014. The show is based on a format originally created by the Dutch-based Endemol's Big Brother,

Tanna was currently seen with model Upen Patel in Nach Baliye 7, as contestants, which started April 26, 2015,

Theatre

In September 2006, Tanna made her theater debut with the Hinglish farce/romantic comedy Perfect Wedding, directed by Vandana Sajnani. The work was adapted from Robin Howdon's British play of the same name.

Film career

Tanna made her Bollywood debut with the December 2005 film Dosti: Friends Forever, playing the role of Nandini Thapar, sister of Bobby Deol. The star cast of the film also included Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Juhi Chawla and Shakti Kapoor.

Tanna's second film was a Kannada language movie, I Am Sorry Mathe Banni Preethsona, which was released in June 2011. Tanna played the lead actress role of Chethana, who marries Prem Kumar. The film is based on the theme of suspicion, sanctity and compulsions in the relationship of a happily married couple.

In September 2013, she tasted her first commercial Bollywood success with her third film, Grand Masti, a Bollywood sex comedy, and a sequel to April 2004 film, Masti, She played the role of Unatti, Vivek Oberoi's wife. The film crossed the box office collections of Rs 100 crore in just 23 days of its release, making it the first Hindi adult comedy film to cross this mark in record days.

Tanna's fourth film, Tina and Lolo, is under pipeline. The film stars Tanna in the lead role,Sunny Leone, and also features Deepak Tijori and Taaha Shah. Tanna's character was earlier offered to Minissha Lamba, but Lamba opted out as the script required her kissing Sunny Leone.

Other past shows/Characters: Strictly no discussions of actor's past/other current shows are to be discussed in the Forum. Sharing pictures/creations/VMs of the celebrities other work will NOT be allowed. The ATs should be strictly confined to appreciating the celebrity with respect to Nach Baliye 7 . No comparisons of celebrities' work in NB7 and other forms of work are allowed in here.

Comparisons : Strictly NO comparison of any sort be it between particpating jodi's or of individual jodis with other onscreen couples is allowed.Also comparison between hosts /judges etc is also NOT allowed.

Stalking : Stalking other ATs and reporting them only with the intention to get the a Warning Note on other AT or getting it closed will not be allowed and members involving in stalking and reporting will be strictly dealt with.

If any AT gets a DT note, please DO NOT assume it's reported by other fans and start reporting the other AT and it's members. Such stalk/reports between ATs will NOT be entertained in the forum.

Bashing: Please refrain from any negative/bashful/insulting comments against any celebrity/couple/. If members of an AT are caught discussing other actors/couples negatively, then that particular AT will be held liable for it and may be subject to warnings & eventual closure/Ban as follows.

Discussion of other Topics/ATs/AT Members/Forum members: Any sort of discussion or comments regarding other general topics in the forum/other ATs or other AT members or forum members are strictly prohibited, failing to do so, the members and the AT, will be strictly dealt with.

Quoting : Quoting of pictures/creations and long posts is NOT allowed, other smaller posts can be quoted for a maximum of 3 times. Please use @ symbol instead of quoting.

Spamming: Spamming is against IF COC as mentioned here India-Forums.com- Participation Guidelines & Rules.What is considered as spamming ?

Continuous posting of single or multiple pictures, creations, emoticons, quoting Pictures and using emoticons, continuous posting of comments like "XYZ rocks", "I love abc", "Abc u are the best" ONLY to finish the pages of the AT or to increase the posts WILL NOT ALLOWED from here on., Any members involved in any sort of spamming henceforth will be addressed via PM, repeated spamming will lead to Warning Level rise and continuous spamming by more than one member of the AT, will fetch a Warning note for the AT and repeated violations lead to locking the AT. And all spam comments, which falls under the spamming category (pics, creations, emos etc) , will be deleted without further notice.

Admins/Monitors of the AT: Members who are responsible for opening the AT will be called the Admins/Monitors and they must report the troublemakers or problematic members of the AT to the DT in a timely manner, so that the AT/other genuine fans are not penalized. Here the Admins have a big responsibility and so we believe them to be totally unbiased as the whole responsibility of a AT is on them

Closure of ATs- When an AT reaches 150 pages, hit the report button and add this "AT reached 150 Pages", the DT will close it as we can not have two ATs open at the same time.

If there are 3 or more people consistently violating the AT rules, the effects of violations will kick start, which go as follows:

First Violation - Warning Note

2nd - Another Warning Note

3rd - Another Warning Note

4th - Close the AT for 24 hrs (1 Day)

5th - Close AT for 72 hrs (3 Days)

6th - Close AT for 1 week (7 Days)

7th - Get rid of AT completely from the Nach Baliye 7 Forum and shift it to Celebrity Fan Club Forum

Having said that, please do not assume that every report submitted against the opposite fan group will be entertained. We will go through the reports and only if we find the report valid based on above rules and action will be taken accordingly as stated above.

All of the IF and Nach Baliye 7 rules will always be applicable here, in addition to the AT specific rules.
