One of the most beautiful and significant symbols of the Western Mysteries is the Rose. The Rose and the Grail share many spiritual resonances. The word chalice' comes from the Latin word, calyx, which means cup, and is the name given to the cup-like sepals of a flower which support the petals. Both these symbols suggest the receptive vessel of the soul, opening to receive the in-pouring of Divine influence. Indeed the symbolism of the Rose is even more complex than the Grail, given the beauty of its form, the number and arrangement of the petals with their velvety texture, the intoxicating perfume and, deep inside, the hidden golden heart enfolded within the petals, concealing the Mystery of the Centre. A 12th century Persian poet wrote, "Mystery glows in the rose bed, the secret is hidden in the rose." Not surprisingly, the rose has long been recognized as the western equivalent of the eastern lotus as a symbol of the unfolding of higher consciousness. In medieval Europe, the Rose as a symbol of union with the divine may have been influenced by Arabian and Persian teachings from the time when Spain was an Islamic country. The Sufi teacher, Hazrat Inayat Khan writes: Just as the rose consists of many petals held together, so the person who attains to the unfoldment of the soul begins to show many different qualities. The qualities emit fragrance in the form of a spiritual personality. The rose has a beautiful structure, and the personality which proves the unfoldment of the soul has also a fine structure, in manner, in dealing with others, in speech, in action. The atmosphere of a spiritual being pervades the air like the perfume of a rose. The Goddess and the Rose As well as being a symbol of mystical union, the Rose is particularly associated with the numinous beauty of the goddess and the love her presence evokes within the human heart. It was the most revered flower in ancient Egypt, sacred to Isis herself. Petals, whole flowers and wreaths of roses have been found heaped upon the oldest tombs in the pyramids. | | |
Thorns
Ouch! Did you just get pricked by a thorn. Well if that was the case then something will stick to you soon that would annoy you.
The ROSE AND THE THORN has played an important part in the series especially between Ashlok. Aastha fave flower is a pink rose, there were rose petals scattered on the bed on their first SR and she was pricked by a thorn in the red rose during the first Mahiya song when Shlok caressed her with one... along her face and throat and... ( Nirma thoughts please)😉
The prick on her finger by the rose thorn during the Mahiya song.. meant the complete deflowering of Aastha as indicated by the drop of blood that was shown on her finger. She was also afraid of physical intimacy with Shlok and tried to delay it as much as she could though she was in love with him deeply. A young girl's fear and apprehensions on the act and her own sexual needs that were coursing through her body. I think by this time, she had shed her inhibitions and surrendered to Shlok totally.
As stated above, the centre of the rose is Aastha's soul and femininity which was unfurled by Shlok with love during that Mahiya scene. Shlok's desire, want and need were expressed here and Aastha was the vessel or recipient of the same. He gifted her a rose again on their first Anniversary and also when he made love to her in the chawl by scattering rose petals over every surface. The delicate perfume of the rose scented the air like their love did to each other's soul.
Aastha was pricked by a poisonous thorn during her first jungle HM and Shlok ran up the temple steps to save her life. Aastha underwent much suffering both physical and mental post that. That was the period she found out her baba was sent to jail, her fledgling trust in Shlok was shattered EBP as she accused him of orchestrating the whole fiasco. She was asked to choose between her maayka and her sasural by Anjali and she was forced to reveal the sorry state of her marriage to both the families that ended up with Kalindi filing for divorce. Shlok did not accept her decision easily and harassed her mentally till she ended up with him at his house due to the manipulations of his baba and himself. She could not understand his stubbornness in keeping her in his life despite Shlok saying ad nauseum that he hated her and was avenging his baba's insult.
After the first prick by the thorn/spike in her foot...Aastha faced many hurdles in her life as Aastha Shlok Agnihotri. She overcame them all due to her unflinching support and love to Shlok. He was not with her during her travails and tribulations as a loving husband but as a tolerant and amused man. After her ILU confession, he began to see her in a different light and began to admit his deep and abiding love for her even to himself before doing the grand gesture. Their challenges were not over here, they had to cross Baba who had a hold over Shlok and was even prepared to kill Aastha. The true love and trust surfaced only during the chawl track when they were carving their own wajood by the fruits of their own labours sans the name Agnihotri.
Aastha has now become Barkha and all of her memories are buried deeply in her soul and covered up in the lies of Indrajeet Sarkar. She was unable to peel them off. With the discovery that Aastha was alive and well and had undergone a memory loss, Shlok began to think of ways and means to withdraw the Aastha from within Barkha. With sage advice from Dr.Surbhi his childhood friend, he began to reenact certain incidents from their past that would prick her memory like a thorn in a rose. A prick by a thorn usually draws blood but he did it with utter and complete love, without hurting her fragile mental state and slowly drawing forth her memories one by one. Her mind may not recall Shlok and their love and life but..her sub conscious does which is reflected in the way her body sings, feeling more alive than ever, arguing with him and enjoying every moment of it.
During the second jungle HM that was shown last week, Aastha was again pricked by a thorn and Shlok was too stunned to react and was helpless. It was only Rekha bhabhi who came to his rescue and treated her quickly. This time around the thorn..that pricked her..is an indication of a serious mental illness (true as she has amnesia) and of the pain and suffering she is undergoing. Has to face many more obstacles before the wound can heal. It is like being enclosed by a bush of thorns and the gaps in her memories are going to be filled by Shlok slowly.
She is also very afraid of physical intimacy with IS and is keeping him at arm's length. She has to undergo much mental grief and freeing her from the prickly bushes is going to be a tough task for Shlok. He will achieve it and rescue his fair lady from the clutches of the evil Sarkar. The thorn in her current life is only IS and he will be removed from her life with BLOOD BEING SHED.
Also during the 2nd outing with Shlok the thorn drew blood and Barkha will have to realise that she is vulnerable, staying with Indru under his roof. She is being taken advantage of without her being none the wiser and will she soon see him as her adversary? She has to else she is no longer safe. The true evil intent of IS is being peeled back slowly, showing us one facet at a time. Will Barkha have to undergo more physical suffering as a result of Indru's machinations? Shlok by virtue of his shoes was not pricked by a thorn and crossed the path safely. Aastha could not and she was pricked by the spike.. indicating the mental agony she is going to endure. As for Shlok, he will also face obstacles in his quest to free Aastha from IS but he will be able to arrive at a solution quickly, as he was not hurt.
Love is the only key that can unlock the door to the heart and reveal the secret of the hidden rose, at the centre.
Shlok is approaching her with Love guiding his every step and displaying the same in every action. By doing so he will be able to unlock the deep recesses of her mind and heart where her love for him is buried and set her free, thus living again.
Add any obs or comments.
P.S. Shlok had a bunch of red/pink roses given to him by MB when he was planning to extend the arm of friendship to Barkha... when IS came and announced their wedding.
