every Ranbir fan knew this movie is not gonna be a big hit only he will be praised for his performance n he is appreciated this is wat matters bcoz only his acting will help him to get gud projects n how can yu compare Ranbir with Khans they have some flops too its not like there every movie was always a hit n Ranbir has long way to go he is better then many actors wen it comes to acting. Shahid bounced back due to his acting proves flop doesn't matter as long as yu can act

With the exception of hit music, even there Gadar gave it tough competition, there was nothing going for Lagaan. It started slow but built up on WOM and excellent reviews and became the BB of the year. Lagaan showed what a truly well made film and an exceptional lead actor can acheive together.

The only thing going against Lagaan was its length ( 3 hrs) and time zone(period film). Other then that it had everything needed for a film to succeed, it had cricket ( most popular sport in the country), story of an underdog, patriotic theme and happy ending. So I wont agree that it was out of the mill or totally different but yes it was a very well made film no 2 ways about it.

Again not true at all. Do you know how many people rejected it and how many people said it will be a flop. Nobody believed that it will be anything more than a washout. Lagaan smashed the most BW myths/stereotypes. Cant remember any-another movie doing so. Watch Chale Chalo; a small movie based on its making to get the idea just how difficult it was.

Naming some of the negatives;
- It was a period movie.
- It had off-beat songs.
- A hero in a Dhoti and a dark heroine. A big no, no at the time.
- It was three hours long.

- It was made on cricket. How many movie have been made or cricket and how many of them are successful?? Cricket was the last subject to make a movie on in those days.

- It was shot in Bhuj. A barren waste-land.
- And you had the actors speaking a different language altogether. Couple that with the British actors speaking English and heavily accented Hindi.

Nobody gave it a chance as a standalone movie let alone as a clash with another biggie. Yet/ it clashed with Gaddar; one of biggest hits of all time and emerged as a huge success.

Jai Ho opened well .
amd Jai Ho was a SEMI HIT... not a flop

Daisy not Anushka
Sohail not Anurag Kashyap
Yash Tonk and Asssmit and not Karan Johar

Yet it fared well.

Grossed over 116 crore DOMESTIC .

Aamir Khans Talaash grossed 118 crore WORLDWIDE, 90 some crores were domestic. Oh and with Kareena Kapoor and Rani on board.

We do shit with Daisy, Asin,Jacqueline, Sohail, Yash Tonk and Assmit here :)

I was not expected with komal Nahtha with this way

Anurag Kashyap's direction fails to cut the ice with the audience. Like the script, which has niche appeal, his narrative style will be liked by a very thin section of the audience only. For the large mass base of audience, the script as well as the direction would afford little excitement or meaning. Amit Trivedi's music is another major minus point. The Jazz base of the music wouldn't find favour with the youngsters. A couple of songs, particularly Fifi' (remixed by Mike McCleary) and Mohabbat buri bimaari' (also by Mike McCleary) and Behrupiya' (Amit Trivedi) are well-tuned but, as mentioned above, they have their limitations for the youth of today. Amitabh Bhattacharya's lyrics are alright. Choreography of the songs by Ashley Lobo is in keeping with the era in which the film is set. Amit Trivedi's background music is appropriate. Rajeev Ravi's cinematography is wonderful. Chuck Picerni Jr.'s action scenes are okay. Sameer Sawant's art direction and Sonal Sawant's production designing is excellent. Visual effects deserve special mention. Editing by Thelma Schoonmaker and Prerna Saigal leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Bombay Velvet is a colossal waste of money and resources. It is devoid of entertainment value and will, therefore, fail miserably at the box office. There is nothing velvet-like about it. Rather, it is as coarse as unprocessed jute

I didnt said that good music is not needed. Its qually needed. And salman's Jai Ho also made 100 crs on BO. His bad film also crossed 100 crs mark was on his star power. If thats u dont consider starpower then I dont know in what is starpower. So u try better next time and tell me whats starpower.

Jai Ho was a flop and an average affair at best. Noway was it a Semi hit.

As for Aamir; PK's 350 crores is more that of Kick and Jai Ho combined.😆
