No it got U/A after they reduced one kissing scene. 😃

As for Mad Max, will have to wait and see. FF7 & Avengers 2 were franchise films so had great buzz. Not all genres do well in India. Death Race kinda stuff hasn't done well in the past.

Wait so they were giving it an A based on one kissing scene??

That is hilarious. I heard that they wanted the word Dhobi removed as well.🤣

But Mad Max ain't death race. Have you seen the trailers?? They are beyond awesome.

It is a franchise as well just not an active one. Still bound to have some fans.

Just hope that BV lives up to its expectations.

Yea, they also made them remove 2-3 words like haramzaade, son of a bitch etc. 😆 No cuts in violence scenes. So I guess it isn't gory filled like NH 10 etc which is good news as far as BO potential.

Yea, trailer was good though not a big fan of such films. Usually, films like Day After Tomorrow, 2012 or Harry Potter, Avatar, Fast and Furious like PG films do well in India. R rated films don't do that well.

Bombay Velvet is a crime drama film directed & co produced by Anurag Kashyap. It stars Ranbir Kapoor,Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar in the lead roles with Kay Kay Menon,Vivaan Shah and Sidharth Basu appearing in the supporting roles.Bombay Velvet is scheduled to release on 15 May 2015.

Bombay Velvet Review

Expectations:

The first trailer of the film was not received well so the second trailer was released which was impressive. The music of the film may have not chartbuster songs but it is growing up.But when you have big names like Ranbir,Anushka,Karan and Anurag Kashyap then you do not expect less than a masterpiece.

Bombay Velvet Review: Story

Bombay Velvet is based on historian Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables. The film is set in the Bombay of 1960's.Bombay Velvet is the story of one ordinary man who goes against all odds and forges his destiny to become a big shot.

The story of the film revolves around Johnny Balraj (Ranbir Kapoor) who is a street fighter at the docks. He has a love interest Rosie Noronha (Anushka Sharma) who is an aspiring singer.Johnny Balraj wanted to change his fate and achieve some thing big in his life.Kaizad Khambata (Karan Johar) who is a Parsi media mogul with a high-end attitude helps Johnny Balraj to fulfil his dream.Khambata sets up a club named Bombay Velvet and gave in the custody of Johnny Balraj. But soon Johnny realised that he has been trapped by Khambata and also betrayed by Rosie. The whole film revolves around how their hopes and dreams collide with their individual realities. We will not reveal much as it will decrease your curiosity.

Bombay Velvet Review: Direction

Anurag Kashyap is one of the finest dark film makers. He said that he wanted to enter into mainstream cinema with Bombay Velvet.Let's see whats the result.

Bombay Velvet is a beautiful mixture of thrill, drama, romance and action. The film is slow at the start but it picks up pace soon.Showcasing a street fighter passion, anger and struggle, Anurag Kashyap wins you with the tale.It is a story of ambition, love, greed and music. No other director would be able to pull this off other than Kashyap.Only he can think out of the box.Screenplay is superb as always for Anurag films.Editing should have been tighter. Some scenes should have been avoided which were repetitive and make no difference to the actual story.

Technically film is brilliant having stunning visuals. It is not easy to recreate the Bombay of 1960's.Kudos to the technical staff. The music by Amit Trevedi may have not become popular but it will grow rapidly after the film.He has composed some melodious compositions which will be remembered for a long time.A treat for Jazz lovers.A special mention for background score which lifts many scenes in the film.

Bombay Velvet Review: Star Performances

Ranbir Kapoor as always steals the show with his unmissable act.He will make you breath Johnny Balraj. He once again proved that he can off any kind of role.Outstanding.

Anushka Sharama is riding high on the success of his films PK & NH 10 and also the critical appreciation she received for those films. She continues her good form and delivers an excellent performance.

Karan Johar is the surprise package in Bombay Velvet. He looks calm and cool as a business tycon. He redefine the villains in Bollywood.Surely debut of the year.

In the supporting cast Kay Kay Menon and Sidharth Basu are brilliant as always.Vivan Shah looks cool too.

Whats Good:

Johnny Balraj aka Ranbir

Stunning Visuals

Ranbir-Anushka Chemistry

Screenplay

Music & Background Score

Unconventional Climax

Deadly Karan Johar

What's Bad:

Editing

Some loopholes In Script

Slow Pace

Limited Appeal

Bombay Velvet Review: Last Word

Anurag Kashyap does it again. No doubt that after watching Bombay velvet audience will be divided into two groups. One will love each bit of it while other will completely dislike it.Honestly it has some weak points too but overall Bombay Velvet is a beautiful crafted unconventional film that will take you to the different world. We agree with Kalki that years later, It will be remembered as a classic.Bombay Velvet is a must watch, a delight for every cinema lover.Don't miss this epic drama.

seems like it's one of those films that will be like slow poison and spread slowly...just hope it doesnt go the 'Dil Se' way where people didn't get it at the time of release but then fell madly in love with the movie years later...

really dont like 3.5 rating...as it's neither here or there...they gave even a film like dolly ki coli 3-3.5 stars while some good films get the same...makes no sense
