RULES FOR PARTICIPATION
Do read these before creating and participating
Standard IF rules apply.
1. Absolutely no bashing - this includes disrespectful, harsh, or condescending language directed at fellow members, the actors they like, or the shows they're discussing. Intelligent critiques of the writing/production are welcome, but avoid criticism based on subjective criteria like looks and acting... pasand apni apni.
2. In debates, no personal attacks... and if possible/necessary, give credit to your sources. This rule is especially important because each member has his/her own beliefs depending on the region/sect/school of philosophy to which they belong. Some may even prioritize different scriptures than others. Feel free to disagree with them, but do not disrespect them or their religious beliefs.
3. Crediting your sources does NOT give you license to disrespect contradicting texts. Hinduism is rich with diversity; everyone has a particular reverence for different scriptures and forms of God depending on geographic region/social surroundings/personal nature. They may contradict one another and create doubts about authenticity. The objective discussion and resolution of such doubts is welcome; subjectively claiming overall superiority of one text and putting down others (consequentially insulting all those members who have faith in them) is not. The use of distasteful language to describe the elements of someone's faith, be it their scriptures, deities, prophets, or anything else, will NOT be tolerated.4. Advertising or promotion of any content is to be refrained from as it is against IF-COC
5. Personal chatting or other chatting not relevant to the thread cannot be carried on in the chat thread.
Besides that I have these reminders
1) As someone joked, short of calling Veda Vyasa back, Mr Debroy is probably going to be the closest to an authoritative voice on the Mahabharat that we have in our times. Let us make it worth his while to come spend his time with us. Let us try to keep our arguments substantive rather than emotive
2) Lastly, and most importantly: Whatever you do, whatever you think, always remember one thing: SAHADEV KNOWS (or, at least the NSA does)
( I am unashamedly admitting to plagiarizing this line from - https://ovshake.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html)
And for the smartalecks who are likely to tell me that Sahadev cannot talk though he knows, I will say this. He has learned to do email, since he met the newly minted Technology Deva, Steve of the clan Jobs.
