The roast of actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, hosted by comedy group AIB and uploaded on YouTube, has run into more trouble.
The FIR, by a constable from the Crime Investigation Department or CID, has been filed under sections 292 (Distribution of obscene content or lascivious or appeals to the prurient interest), Section 294 (Obscene Act in public place) of the Indian Penal Code and section 67a of IT Act (Publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act, etc. in electronic form).
The roast, the first of its kind in India, featured a panel of eight and 'Roastmaster' Karan Johar skewering 'Gunday' actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor and subjecting them to jokes about their on-screen and off-screen lives. 4,000 people attended the show in Mumbai and later it went viral online. Its reviews were not all positive - some found the jokes were in poor taste, and too expletive-heavy, but many said that's the point of a roast. The edited video of the event, which was uploaded on YouTube, was taken down by AIB on Tuesday.
At least two police cases were earlier filed in Mumbai against the event, alleging that it violated religious sentiments
