(Hey foursome - no offence meant, apologise in advance if I hurt your sentiments)
So the four KS Members Aarthy aka Raaga, Sujata aka Garf, Pooja aka Pooja.Walia and Mistletoe aka MT aka Rekha find that they live within a 50 mile radius in the capital city - New Delhi. So they decide to meet. and we go live into the conference call between the four
Sujata (Garf) : Lets meet yaar. How about Barista in the Satyam Arcade ? Is that Ok for you. Ok ?????
Sujata (Garf) : Ok..... hang on a sec..... What am I saying, this one closed down a while ago. Ok how about McD's the one in GK Market ?????
Rekha (MT) - Arre Su, if I am not mistaken, that is the training center
Sujata (Garf) - yeah thats right, then .........
Aarthy (Raaga) - How about the McD's in Vasant Vihar - you know the Basant Lok Community Center
Pooja (PW) - Guys, really appreciate it if we could convene at the Preet Vihar McD - you know the one in Sikka Community Center. It is closer to college and I can join you guys after Mathur's boring Micro Econ class.
Sujata (Garf) : Alright guys, then we meet at the McD's at the Preet Vihar tomorrow afternoon. (You can hear MT groan in the background). MT I know it is going to be far for you, but I promise on behalf of us three (South Delhi) musketeers, that our next meet will be in the Northern part of Delhi.
All four agree. The day dawns for our foursome
At Rekha;s (MT) house, Rekha has donned a chic looking linen kurta freshly laundered and ironed with the creases peaking. Standing in front of the mirror and is spraying Este Lauders - Ultimate Pleasures, when her 6 year old son - Raghu torpedoes into her. MT just groans at the impact as she is pushed on to the bed by her son. Both mother and son indulge in a pillow fight and suddenly MT stops taking in the time. She is running late and to her horror finds her linen Kurta in a creased and crumpled state. Too late to change, she dives into her linen closet and pulls out a bottle of Downy Wrinkle Releaser and sprays it generously over the creases.
Rekha (MT) cajoles and bribes her son to let her go and after a major buttering session to MIL, steps out of the house. Not bothering for the elevator, takes the stairs and trotts along the tree lined streets to the auto stand.
Rekha (MT) : Chao bhaiyya, Preet Vihar - Sikka Community Center pata hai, wahin. Thoda jaldi
Rick Driver : Behenji, jaldi keh nahi sakta. Lunch time hai, kafi traffic lagega
After a long and ardous 45 mintue drive, MT arrives at the Preetam Vihar McD
She takes in the impressive glass and tropical facade of the building. As she is waiting to cross over to the other side, she notices something and involuntary grin appears on her face. What was so amusing MT, of course the sign posted at the drive-thru "Parking for drive-through customers only."
MT makes her way into the restaurant and scans for her group. She zeroes in on a trio sitting in the far end. Breathing in deeply MT goes to the table
Rekha (MT) : Hi gals, Mistletoe is here, btw who is Raaga, Garf and Pooja ?
The trio is taken aback and stare back at MT and one of them says : Lady you have the wrong table and btw what Mistletoe, didn't you know Christmas is a good 3 months away.
Rekha (MT) mortified, whirled around and dug into her bag to whip out her cell phone and dialed Sujata's (Garf) number.
Sujata (Garf) : Sorry yaar, MT, venue changed, we are all at the Pizza Hut. Just walk 2 blocks further from the McD's and your should be able to see the Pizza Hut. We are here. So sorry - see you in a bit
MT asks one of the Mcd staff to direct her to PH and she promptly arrives at the venue.
MT lets herself in and takes in the surroundings and looks for her party of three. Not wanting a repeat McD episode takes her time. She finds 3 girls getting a picture from their server and decides to pass
She takes the stairs to go to the next level and passes again a group of young patrons
and finally zeroes in on
a young and very pretty looking girl (Looking like a College Professor for some reason) sitting with a laptop preening seriously into it.
Rekha (MT) coughed : "Aarthy?"
The lady in question gave her the most bewildered look and nodded negatively : Sorry .....
Rekha (MT) going red mutters to herself : Darn twice in a day. She must be thinking how weird I am. Meeting someone and not knowing who that someone was.
As Rekha (MT) turned away and tried to make a quick exist, a gaggle of feminine voices broke behind and Lo Behold, there was the trio - her three invisible friends with whom she had been chatting and interacting for the last few months!
A madcap and spontaneous hug followed and as usual, Rekha (MT) was the one with the loudest voice. The four quitened down and their server with the trademark red shirt, black pant and the red PH cap appeared at their table.
Server : Hello ladies...... hope you r having a great day..... I am your server for today and my name is Ram.
The foursome could not believe it. Hey yahan par bhi Ram. 😉
They took stock of the boy from head to toe making the guy squirm.
Server : So have you decided. Would you like to start off with something to drink perhaps?
Rekha (MT ) the first to recover : Iced tea please
The other 2 Raaga and Pooja ordered the same, Sujata excused herself, since she had a bad throat and asked for soup.
Ram : Maam we have the Minestrone, Potato, Tomato and the special of the day Acorn Squash (Pumpkin) Soup
Pooja (PW) the most somber, turned out had the most wry and killer sense of humor. With absolutely no expression on her face, she turned and looked at Raam & said
Pooja (PW) : You have the Cuddu Special today.
The other three burst into laughter and Ram had no clue what he had said that prompted such riotous laughter. Sujata (Garf) was in no mood to be ribbed by the other three and settled for the safest Minestrone soup
The boy sauntered off to get their drink order and at the same time handed them the plush vinyl menus. The foursome after somewhat settling down followed by a riot of laughter & amusement on actually meeting the people whom they had never known in their lives, started to browse the Menus.
MT could not go thru the Menu as yet and glanced at the other three. She found Aarthy's gaze too.
Poo looked very cute in a off-white salwar kameez, very much the somber and reserved MBA student!
Sujata, looks amazingly young for her 29 years, could be mistaken for a College goer . She puts all Boxtox users to shame, how can she look so young!)
And Raaga! Honestly, stuns everyone.
Rekha (MT) when she saw Raaga ended up blurting : "Hey, I didn't expect you to be so pretty."
Raaga just grinned unabashedly.
Rekha (MT) : Dressed in mustard Salwar Kameez, and a pierced nose, Aarthi looked like one of those classical old Tamil Movie heroines, except that she is such a riot when she speaks!
Ram came back with the order of Iced tea
& Soup for Sue
Ram the server rattled off the special items of the day and the
Rekha (MT) : We all chose the speciality for the day Sicilian Pizza that had a herbed crust with a layer of marinara sauce and hefty servings of veggies and all of it topped with a blend of 3 cheeses - Parmesan, Mozzerella and Riccotta.
More conversation flowed between the four
Ram was back with their pizza : Maam would you like to have some breadsticks.
Talk about putting cart before the horse. The poor guy was already scared and it could not have gotten any worse for him. And we got to see more of Poo's sense of humor
Pooja (PW) : We will get a half a dozen
Raam : But maam we only have six, nine and twelve.
All four pairs of eyes looked up at Raam. Raam suddenly realized his mistake and sheepishly went back to fill up the order.
