Prem and Preeti

It was past midnight when preeti came home after her shift at the hospital. She quietly entered the house not wanting to wake up anybody. She walked to the kitchen and saw that Mamta had kept a plate of food ready for her. She heated the food and took it upstairs for her to have it over there. She felt very lonely these days since prem had gone to London for some business contract and would be back after a few weeks.

He had gone about two months back and she missed him terribly. At first he was reluctant to go as at that time it had only been four months since their marriage but preeti forced him to knowing that the entire company depended on the contract.

Today it was exactly six months since they got married. Pushing these thoughts to the back of her mind and entered the room. Switching on the light she saw the picture of prem and her hanging on the wall and felt tears in her eyes. It had been two months since she had seen him and almost 3 days since she had spoken to him. That's the reason she stayed at the hospital till late so that she could distract herself from this pain.

Everyone in the family knew that preeti was missing prem a lot but didn't know what they could do about it. She would sit locked up in the room the whole day and come down only during meal times or to help in the kitchen a few times but mostly she would be in the hospital working double shifts just to get her mind off prem.

Again realising that she had spaced out she comes back to reality. She takes her plate of food and walks to the bed. She almost drops the plate when she sees prem sleeping on the bed. She keeps the plate down and walks over to his side of the bed thinking that she is hallucinating. She rubs her eyes to make sure she wasn't dreaming. She sits down next to prem and gently touches his cheek to make sure he really was there. She gasps when prem's hands wrap around her waist and pull her onto the bed so that she is now lying down next to prem with his arms wrapped around her waist and his face nuzzled in her neck.

Prem softly whispers, " I've missed you so much preeti... i couldn't stay there one more day without you " Preeti sighs and replies, " Prem... i missed you too " Prem turns her around slowly so that she is now facing him and says "I love you my sweet, innocent wife" and then without waiting for her reply he meets her lips with his. The kiss was long, sweet and gentle and preeti literally melted into prem's arms.

They both pull away for breath and stare deeply into each other's eyes not uttering a single word. After sometime prem sits up and takes the plate of food preeti kept earlier. He helps preeti sit making her lean on the bed and slowly feeds her the food. After eating they both fall asleep snuggling into each other just feeling the love that radiates off their bodies not wanting the moment to end.

The next morning the whole family is down talking and laughing happily with Sangeeta, Anand babu and the kids who just arrived that morning. Even Pritham has come to meet them well mostly to meet his daughter since it had been almost two weeks since he saw her. They all knew prem was coming back yesterday but kept it as a surprise for preeti.

Prem and Preeti were the only one who had still not come down. Sapna suggested that they were probably sleeping because they were tired. Prem had just come after a long plane journey while preeti had come home late after a night shift.

It was almost afternoon when prem and preeti came down together. Vinod instantly started teasing them to which prem just rolled his eyes but preeti started blushing. They were surprised to see sangeeta and all there as they did not know of their arrival. Preeti hugged her dad and talked to him while Prem was busy staring at his beautiful wife. Now he didn't even need to secretly stare at her because they were already married. Everytime preeti's eyes met his she would look away blushing. Prem chuckled at the thought of how shy preeti was even after they got married and became one in the most intimate way possible. He felt proud to admit that they were both each other's first times.

Soon everyone sat at the dining table for lunch , laughing and talking and just having a wonderful time. Everyone were gushing over Rahul, Vivek's 9 month old son. He just started crawling a few days back and also just said his first word papa' a few days back.

Prem couldn't help but think of when Preeti and he will have a child and when his child will say papa. But he knew preeti was not ready yet and neither was he to take up the responsibility of parenting. They would start their family when both of them were ready.

Sangeeta was thinking of going for a trip to Rampur again, that way vivek will be able to see the development of the factory there, sapna would spend time with her dad and grandma and they all would also be able to have fun there just like last time. It had been more than a year since they went on a trip like that together.

So after discussing and planning everything it was decided that they would leave in 3 days and they would stay there for a week before coming back in time for Ramkishen and Mamta's 51^st anniversary. After that sangeeta , anand babu and the kids would go back. After lunch everyone felt tired so they made their way to their rooms for a short nap.

Preeti goes to her room and takes out a few reports which she had left pending. She started working on them and found one in which a young woman had some problems because of which she was incapable of becoming a mother. Reading this brings tears to preeti's eyes as she imagines herself in a situation like that, she would be heartbroken.

Prem enters the room to see tears pouring out of preeti's eyes. He rushes to her side and asks, " What's wrong preeti? Are you okay? Is your health fine? Do you want me to get something? Do you want to sleep? Why are you crying!? " A small smile forms on preeti's lips when she sees prem looking so concerned and worried about her. She wipes away her tears and says, " Nothing happened..." Prem kisses her cheek and says, " No please tell me... " Preeti shakes her head but nevertheless replies, "In this report it says that a young woman cannot become a mother due to some health problems...I just felt sad because I would hate it if I never became a mother" Prem sighs and kisses preeti's forehead whispering, "you will be the best mother in the world... Our child will be lucky to have you as a mother" Preeti's face becomes red when prem talks about their future child and she covers her face with both her hands. Prem laughs and moves her hands away bringing his lips on hers and proving to her just how much he loved her. After pulling away from the kiss prem asks, " Preeti? I want you to answer my question honestly..." Preeti hesitantly nods.

Prem asks her, "Do you trust me?" without any hesitation she replies, " Yes!" Prem smiles and asks, " Do you love me?" again without even a second gap she says, " Ofcourse!" Prem kisses her cheek and asks again, " Will you start a family with me?" Preeti is shocked. She just stares at him before opening her mouth to say something but then she closes it again opens it but can't say anything then closes it. Prem frowns even though he finds it cute that she looks like a fish opening and closing her mouth again and again. She closes her eyes tight.

Prem looks away from her knowing her answer. She is still not ready. He doesn't mind waiting and would wait for her his entire life if he needed to but just something inside him forced him to atleast ask. He clears his throat and is about to get up when preeti opens her eyes and holds his hand in hers.

They both look down at their intertwined hands and prem notices that preeti's hand are smaller than his but they fit perfectly against each other. Preeti closes her eyes still holding his hands and leans in closer fiving him a peck on the lips before getting up and rushing out of the room. Prem is stunned and touches his lips feeling her kiss still lingering. That was the first time she initiated a kiss even though it was just a peck. He finally comes back to his senses and whispers to no one in particular " She said yes!"
