I was watching the old episodes from the first separation period and this scene from 20-Jan-2014 episode, preceding the office fire accident, caught my eye. Shlok had a White Peacock behind him and Aastha had a Swan figurine in her background.

PIC from 20-Jan-2014 episode

Swan, obviously, symbolizes Aastha's loving nature here, as there is a heart too on the other side of that vase.

The vase has three feathers, an ORANGE one, a WHITE one and a BLACK one dividing those two. Interestingly, Aastha is wearing an ORANGE saree and the peacock behind Shlok is WHITE, though he is wearing Grey/Black clothes. Wonder who could be the BLACK feather separating orange and white in this scene? Niranjan?! A similar vase was used in the background in a scene with Aditi, when she was trying to separate Shlok and Aastha.

Check out my post on Vases.

Swan is actually an Ugly Duckling that evolves into a beautiful Swan. Swan also represents this growing up process, which fits Aastha's character perfectly. Since the Swan is Aastha, Shlok must be the Peacock here.

Swan and Peacock have a lot of significance in Hindu mythology.

Goddess Saraswathi has both the Peacock and the Swan as her vehicles.
Peacock represents Ego or Pride (Ahamkara), because of it's nature of showing off those beautiful feathers, and Consciousness/Alertness (Chitta), represented by the many eyes in its plumage.
Swan represents the Mind and Intellect (Manas and Buddhi), because it is said to be able to discern right from wrong. It symbolizes Wisdom.
Goddess Saraswati's four arms represent the same four essential aspects of a human personality that are needed in "healthy proportions" for intellectual growth. Shlok and Aastha need to work on that.

Peacock is the vehicle of Lord Murugan/Karthikeya, Lord Ganesha's brother, who leads the army of Gods. This Peacock subdues poisonous snakes. Who is that poisonous snake?! Niranjan?!

Lord Krishna wears a Peacock plume on his crown. It represents the all seeing eye that wards off the evil eye and bestows happiness, wisdom and equanimity. The evil eye, huh?! Niranjan again?!

The same Peacock figurine was shown in 27-Aug-2014 episode, when Anjali was dressing Kavya up as Lord Krishna for Janmashtami. In this scene, Anjali must be the Peacock, adorning little Kavya's head with the plume of her love and blessings.

PIC from 27-Aug-2014 episode

The tulips in the picture frame show that Aastha managed to bring Spring into Anjali's cold heart.

Check out my post on Tulips.

The black candle holder, without any candles is how Niranjan is going to be in future, without Anjali or Shlok to light up his dark existence.

REHKA...wonderfull post...and absolutely beautiful explanations...
SWAN...Saraswathi matha's... Vehicle...represents truth(Saraswathi matha... Bijakshara...(IAM...truth and knowledge) ... And only a swan has the ability... To separate milk from water... To drink it... meaning Astha... Who gives more importance to truth...and also is conscious of herself as right... and proves it too...from wrong..

PEACOCK...WITH PLUME IS MALE... macho..and... Ego too...AHAMKARA...(I AM...action and practical experience )
As you said... Murugan's vehicle ...who is senapati of the gods and subdues poisonous snakes too...
Is lord krishna's adornment... His MAYA...with which he captivates everyone Alike... Good and bad...and gives the same back as result karma...as Suchi said...Mohini.

Astha and Shlok both have... Ego (IAM...I AM.).. But uses it for good purposes too...unless when comes to self...pride. ... But not proud...

THE AGNIHOTRI'S BUSINESS IS... EDUCATION...SARASWATHI... BOTH TRUTH... KNOWLEDGE... is taught to everyone...Whereas... to run such big business correctly and profitably...EGO... As In AHAMKARA.. Meaning... Conscious Action and ... is needed... and SHLOK... has the perfect... Balance of EGO AND ACTION... With KNOWLEDGE AMD EXPERIENCE TOO...AND... Uses MAYA TOO...according to the persons concerned...good or bad... for his purposes...or for GOOD RESULTS...benefitting others.

Shlok also has the ability to fight a WAR in anyway...dirty or clean... if necessary... Can Subdue and kill poisonous snakes like... NA...if needed.

Shlok has the ability to subdue a poisonous and Egoistic person...like NA...or a GOOD person like ASTHA...both with his love and devotion...and gives back the same as they do... Three times more... Like lord Krishna...does.

So apt use of... SWAN...AND...PEACOCK...for ASTHA and SHLOK... completely.

Lovely shot Rekha about swan and peacock.
Just a littel bit of my knowledge . The peacock feather which lord krishna adorns has the power to impress anybody and influence them for good. It is Mohini. So Shlok is Krishna and Mohini. It also has the power of Lord Krishna's protection.

The swan is proud too as it is beautiful and always goes with its head held high. It proves itself right and so will Astha.
