Chapter 3

"Madhu beta!"

"Ji Papa"

"Here are the things you needed." , the man said giving a packet to Madhu. Madhu kept it aside and removed the coat of his father.

"I am so thirsty. A glass of water please?"

"Abhi layi,"

"Where is Rishabh?", man said holding the glass

"Who Rishabh?"

"Oh that soldier. His name is Rishabh Kundra, I read on badge.", Man drank water and handed back to Madhu. "Where is he?"

"HE is resting. He wanted to inform his parents abt his whereabts but I told him the weather is not good and also lines are dead due to it."

"Oh okay, maybe I should check on him"

RK was resting on the bed.

"How are you feeling now?", Rishabh sat n looked at the man.

"I'm feeling good, thanks. You are doing so much for me and.."

"It's all right, it's all right. You people do so much for us, its nothing in front of that." Madhu's father saw glass on the stool.

"So u too had to bear the torture?"

"Haldi wala doodh I mean", he laughed, "I too had to drink it at times, my daughter you know...haha"

"Isn't there any way I can make contact?"

"Ah, no no not in this weather, my daughter would have told you. Heavy snowfall you see? Lines are closed. Its common in this place. You have to wait for few days."

"Okay!", Rishabh didn't know wht to say. He had to wait. It was important to inform his whereabouts.

"Your family must be worrying about you No?, the man said, he had become serious suddenly. "I can understand how it feels when you go away to serve the country, leaving the people behind...who cares for you. There is a fear in heart...but at the same its very amazing job. Few are the lucky who get the chance to do something for the country n even if u die.."

"Papa, dinner is ready"

"Oh yeah m coming" he glanced at Rishabh "I will tell Madhu to send your food at room."

Rishabh nodded.

"Um Sir", Rishabh asked.

"Yeah, n don't call me Sir n all. You are not talking to ur senior.", the man said.

"Thats what I wanted to ask. I don't don't know your name"

"Oo I forgot, sorry, sorry I am Shamsher Mallik"

"Okay, Mr. Mallik, then"

"PAPA", Madhu again called his father.

"I am coming, I m coming", Mallik left the room.

Don't know why but Rishabh felt that there is the reason why they were behaving in such a way. 1st Madhu's confusing behavior...n then Mr. Mallik's sudden seriousness.
