1. How to Add an Image

There is icon/menu option for insert image on the post reply box.

(The Insert Image icon is there on the top menu bar of the Post Reply box just to the left of the Emoticon icon 😕 )

Steps:

1) Click on the icon for Insert Image

2) This will open another dialogue box where you can give the URL or Hyperlink of the image and also preview it.

3A) So lets check how to do it where the image is already available on internet, for example the images available at these link

http://img.india-forums.com/images/600x0/101628-drashti-dhami-as-geet.jpg

This image link I got from the photo section of the Geet Forum on IF

But we can also have images available from other site, in the most simplistic way you can just search for required images in google and you will get the
images, then you can click on the image link to get the URL link of the image

For example, these image links

http://cdn.pcwallart.com/images/colorful-hummingbirds-wallpaper-1.jpg

http://cdn.pcwallart.com/images/fall-maple-leaf-wallpaper-4.jpg

You would have noticed that the image file names have extensions like .jpg or .gif etc.
so the URL link also contains the name of the image at the end with .jpg file extension.

once the link is available, you can put the link in the image URL box, preview to check it, change width or height of the image if required and click on ok.
The image will be inserted into your post..like the below image

3B) What if the image you want in your post is not available on internet. For example, it is there on your computer.

a) For this first you would need to upload the image on some image hosting sites like

http://imgur.com/

some of these are paid sites...sometimes they give it for free for initial period of 30 days..but after that there is cost or charges for the usage.

another site is photobucket.com,

http://photobucket.com/

seems it is free..but you can check it again yourself at the time of using it...it will require a userid/login, and you can upload the image from your PC to this site.

b)
once the image is uploaded, it is made available on internet.
After uploading the image, it will give one image URL which you can embed in other site..You can use that URL of the image to add image into your post.

once you have uploaded the image on such site, you get a URL for the image and you can follow the same steps as before to add the image.

4) Check Post 7 on this page, it gives an alternate way to add images that uses forum codes instead of the insert image menu link.

Note:
1) Also go through image related rules for the forum..for example, copyright images from other sites cannot be added etc.
2) Some sites are blocked on IF e.g. some blogpost sites, so images from these sites may not be displayed in the actual post even though the image is shown in the preview of the post.

4. How to Add YouTube Videos

Steps:

1) Read the Image Adding Post to see the screenshot of 'Post Reply'

2) Read the Flash Audio Player Posts above to understand the Forum Codes Link

3) Like FLASH there is Forum Code for YOUTUBE as well

Following is the syntax and example:

Syntax

[*YOUTUBE]YouTube File Name URL Here[/YOUTUBE*]

Example:

[*YOUTUBE]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xW_AsV7k42o[/YOUTUBE*]

Note: I have added the asterisk or * symbols in the start and end to show the syntax. When you are using it, you have to remove both.

Also, when using forum codes, check that the Enable forum codes is enabled or tick marked.

Another Note :
some https based YT video (secure http) URLs may not work on IF Post. Most of them will work though.

5. Download Geet Videos

A] How to download YouTube videos

Go through this entire Post on below link..It gives various options to download.

B] From where to download or View the episodes

B.1] Option 1 -

check this - the download option is available

https://maanmaniacs.tumblr.com/post/162605241646/geethuisabseparayi-ghsp-geet-episode-video

Not sure how long the videos will remain intact and not get deleted/protected as the below FB page too is removed now like the other options

https://www.facebook.com/Geet.HQ.Episodes/photos/a.180291961991479.37029.170585502962125/1029771723710161/?type=3&theater

B.2] Option 2 - Star Classics Site -- NOTE that this Option is NOT available now, as Star has REMOVED their classics channel from YouTube in Dec 2015. It was available earlier, but Not now.

Most of the videos uploaded by Maaneet fans when the show was on-air (some uploaded only Maaneet scene videos) are now BLOCKED by Star Channel on the basis of copyright. So these videos do not work now.
if you want to see or download full videos, these are available on the star channel called star classics on YouTube
Following is the link for the 1st episode.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA-3jdR7YOs

For the star classics videos on YouTube note that --
Some of these videos contain errors like - almost 15 - 20 of the initial videos are only recap is given in the episode, and few more are erroneous later, but rest are ok except that original songs are replaced by some other background music due to copyright. Also, star classics has tried to put stereo sound effect in the episodes (it means that the background music and dialogues are separated  and you need a headphone with 2 earphones - left and right earphones - to hear both background music and dialogues. If you use only one earphone you will hear only one of the two parts). Because of the stereo effect, they have messed up with the sound at some places in some episodes

B.3] Option 3 - PK Tunes Site -

NOTE that this Option is NOT available now as many videos are deleted from PK tunes site, but you can check time to time if it is available again,
You can also check for the initial episodes and all episodes as well as promos on PK Tune site. PK Tune Site contains all different versions like the star classics videos, the original star one videos added by many fans..original Star One videos will have star one logo on top right side of the video. In the star one version, there are NO sound or song related issues or issues with initial episodes, quality of videos is medium (not HD or high definition is not available in star one version)

Following are links for this

https://tune.pk/video/3063830/geet-hui-sabse-parayi-ep-1

For remaining episodes, you can use search on the PK Tune site and put following text to search for next episodes

geet hui sabse parayi ep 1

geet hui sabse parayi ep 2

geet hui sabse parayi ep 3

... and so on..

B.4] Option 4 - Star - Hotstar channel - For View only

Link for Geet Videos on Hotstar site by Star.
Videos can only be viewed here, and cannot be downloaded.
The download is restricted here.

https://www.hotstar.com/tv/geet-hui-sabse-parayi/376#!%2Fgeet-hui-sabse-parayi-376-s

C] Promos Links - only on PK Tunes -- These are deleted, but you can check again

search for Geet Promo words on PK Tunes site

D] Size of the download

The videos can be downloaded in MP4 format with HD (high definition resolution or high quality) and SD (standard resolution or low quality) resolution.

1) MP4 HD Format - Size of each episode is approx 200 MB for download
2) MP4 low quality format (ok for mobile as mobile screen size is small) - size of each episode is approx 50 MB for download

You can check the size of the downloaded file by checking its size in the file system.

6. How to add link to another site, page or specific post

Steps:

1) Check the image adding post for the screen shot of 'Post Reply'

2) Click on the icon for Insert Hyperlink

3) A new dialogue box will open when you can enter the URL

4) If the URL is starting with https (check the letter s in this) instead of http, then first select https in the combo/dropdown selection box shown before entering URL

5) Click preview to verify

6) Click Ok

7) The dialogue box will close and the hyperlink will be added in the post. It will be a clickable one now.

Now, how to add link to a specific post

For a post you can see a world image/attachment like icon to the left of the Report button (on the top right of every post)

1) Right (remember this is right click and not left click) Click on the Pin/attachment image like icon. (This icon appears to the left of the Report button). Copy the link Address

2) Follow the same steps as listed above.

For example, following is the link for the adding image post

Alternatively, You can also use forum codes for this. You can also use this alternate way to write custom text for the link (such as Chapter Name, so that the chapter name appears instead of hyperlink address URL)

Check Post 7 to find this alternate way.

7. Use Forum Codes To Insert Image or HyperLink in the Post

Apart from the clicking menu icons for adding image or adding hyperlink, there is an alternate way to add hyperlink or image.
This alternate way is based on using forum codes (similar to the way you used the forum code for adding YouTube videos)

a] To Insert Image

[*IMG]https://img.india-forums.com/images/600x0/101628-drashti-dhami-as-geet.jpg[/IMG*]

Note: Remove the asterisk (*) signs from the beginning and end while using it. Ensure that there is no blank space left in place of the * after removing it.

Example:

b] To Insert Hyperlink

[*URL]https://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4013931&PID=106020002&#p106020002[/URL*]

Note: Remove the asterisk (*) signs from the beginning and end while using it. Ensure that there is no extra blank space left somewhere or in place of the * sign

c] To Insert Hyperlink with Custom Text

[*URL=https://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4013931&PID=106020002&#p106020002]Link to Post 4 How to Add Images[/URL*]

Note: Remove the asterisk (*) signs from the beginning and end while using it. Ensure that there is no extra blank space left in place of the * sign.

Here the text "Link to Post 4 How to Add Images" will be displayed for the hyperlink like this

8. Newbie FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Welcome to GF - Geet (GHSP) Forum. On this forum you will find everything about the show GHSP. You will find many fan fiction (FF) stories on Maaneet written by all the talented authors...You can read the FF, discuss about them and about the show.

So, here are the frequently asked questions from the newly joined members of the forum:

Q1. Why I am not able to write more than 10 posts?

For Newbies, there is a limit of only 10 posts per day. After a total of 50 posts, you will become Groupbie then you can add more number of posts.

Q2. I am not able to add images or videos in the post, what should I do?

For Newbies these features are not permitted, however, you can try using Forum codes (mentioned in the previous page), it may work. You will be able to do all this after attaining the Groupbie level.

Q3. How can I see my previous posts?

You can click on My Dashboard in the top menu of the page to check / change your profile and you can click on My Posts to see the links to your posts.

Q4. Is there any compiled list of Maaneet Fan Fiction stories?

Yes, you can refer to following link which contains thousands of completed and/or ongoing stories.

Q5. To whom I can ask the queries about the forum?

There is a GF development team/moderator/helpdesk team, who can support you for the queries you have. The names of the members in this team are displayed on the 1st or the main page of this forum (GF).

Q6. What is the meaning of PM on IF?

It is the Private Message which can be send to the forum members. The PM option is available below every post, you can use this to send message to the member who has written the post. OR you can go to My Dashboard and use the PM option, if you want to send messages to more than one members.

You can see the messages sent to you in the Inbox and messages sent by you in the Outbox.

Q7. How do I reply to a post, so that the original post appears in my reply?

You can use the quote menu button on the right top of every post and use it to create or post the reply. This will include the original post in your reply.

Q8. Can I get an email notification of the reply to my post?

Yes, While making a topic or a post within the topic, you will see an option of 'Email Notify me of Replies' It is selected by default, you can choose to not select it. By selecting it, it will send email notification to your email (registered while creating user id).
But this feature does not work properly. Even if you post a comment on the topic created by other (by selecting this option), you will start getting your email flooded with notification for all the posts created by topic maker or other members.

9. Authoring - Some Authoring Tricks

Note - This information is based on other posts available on IF. This is only the consolidation of the information from various other threads and posts.

A) the Most Important thing is - to keep a Backup of Your Work

IF threads may get closed, and there were instances in the past where they also got deleted and writers were not able to get their own story threads back, So it is better to or say must to have a backup of your work when you have put so much efforts into it.

If you are directly updating the story on the forum post using a mobile, then it is a must to have a copy of it with you on your PC/laptop/hard disk/CD-DVD drive etc.

The various options you can use (one or combination of more than one)

a) your story in a Word document or text/notepad file on your machine/computer/
b) You can take another additional backup on an external hard disk or a CD/DVD
c) a blog can be used to have a redundant copy of the stories (but after having a copy on our own machine)

This way you can get your work again in case of any data loss scenarios like - thread is closed, thread got deleted, site is not working, thread/post has become uneditable or not able to login to IF since password is forgotten or if your account is deleted for some reason.

Note - also note that if you are using the copy-protect or NOCOPY feature, then you may not be able to copy your own work once the thread gets closed. In that case, you will have to contact the mods of the forum to reopen the thread.

B) Use the Copy-Protect, MEMBERONLY and NOCOPY all together to get maximum protection from copying

1) Use of CopyProtect Feature

This feature is for a thread and has to be used for each thread associated with a story.

When you create a new topic or new thread, by clicking the New Topic button on the forum page, you will see the topic or the main post edit box.
While creating the main post of the topic or thread, you can click on / check the checkbox "Enable Copy Protect" which is just above the 'Post New Topic' Button

If the thread already exists, then click on 'Edit Post' of the main or first post of the thread. You will see the option for "Enable Copy Protect" just above the 'Update Post' Button
Check the check box for
"Enable Copy Protect" if not already checked and click on Update Post button.

If the thread is inactive or closed, then contact the forum mods to reopen the thread and then edit the main post of the thread to enable this feature.

2) Use of [*MEMBERSONLY*] tag

Note : Remove the asterisk signs (*) from the tag while using it. Ensure that there is no space between the words and the rectangular brackets.

This tag is for every individual post of the thread (for example, it is to be used first main post of the thread as well as every chapter related post on that thread).

Using this tag will make the post visible only for logged in IF members. The content of the post will not be visible for general public who can view/read IF discussions even without login.

This tag should be given in the beginning of each post on the thread, which you want to make visible only for the forum logged in members.

This can help restrict plagiarism to some extent.

How to use it - You can add this tag in the beginning of each post for which you want to restrict content to IF Members only. Remove the asterisk sign (*) from the tag while using it and ensure .

You can check the example given in the next post.

3) Use of tag

This tag will restrict copying the text from the page. It will also disable the right click option for the page.

It is must to use this tag on the main or first post of the thread to make it work and then also use it for every  post on the thread which you want to protect from copying
(for example, the main post of the thread and each post corresponding to the chapter of the story on that thread)

This tag works best when used in combination with the Copy-Protect feature

C] To give link to the specific post of the updated part

In the Index, if possible you can give direct link to the update post along with the Page Number.
You can check the link Post 6 on Previous Page on how to add link to a specific post or how to use custom text for the link

11. How to Use Different Fonts

Bored of the using same fonts..here is the post on how to use different fonts apart from those listed in the Font combo box.

Note: The different font will be visible only if it is available on the reader's machine or mobile device. But still you can use this to change to other fonts which are commonly available on all machines.
