BO update: Happy New Year to set new records

After the previous week's non starters, all eyes have been on the next release HAPPY NEW YEAR. The Farah Khan directed multi starrer featuring Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah has been one of the most talked about and anticipated films of recent times.

As expected, HAPPY NEW YEAR (HNY) has opened on a high note with occupancy rates across the country hovering close to 90%. In fact the film has high chances of posting record breaking opening day figures. Interestingly, the film's advance bookings too were met with phenomenal response. This coupled with the massive opening hints at an exceptional weekend with gigantic numbers on the cards. Besides, being a solo release with most of the previous releases already off screens, HNY has a clear week to post massive collections.

Overall with evening and night shows expecting to go houseful, all that remains is to see when and how does the film manage to break previously established collection records.

Guys I've watched HNY today finally! 😛

I shall give a short review here, but a detailed one tomorrow as I'm too tired today. :P HNY was neither a very extra-ordinary movie nor a too bad one. Overall it was good movie, it had a number of humorous scenes which like seriously made everyone sitting in the theatre laugh badly 🤣 🤣 Though the 'kismat' dialogue bored since it was being used repeatedly in almost every second scene... But yes, like I said, overall its a complete entertainment! 😳

Happy New Year collections highest ever, beat Dhoom 3

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer 'Happy New Year' has collected Rs 40 crore and set up new records in most circuits on its first day of release, reports boxofficeindia.com.

However, the Facebook page for the movie claims it collected 44.97 crore on first day of its release.

The collections have surpassed the previous record for opening day collections which was held by Aamir Khan's Dhoom: 3which made Rs 32 crore.

Happy New Year is a 2014 Bollywood action comedy-drama film directed by Farah Khan and produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment. The film has an ensemble cast which includes, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah, Sonu Sood and Jackie Shroff.

This is the third collaboration of Khan with the director; they previously worked on Main Hoon Na (2004) and Om Shanti Om (2007), the latter of which also featured Padukone as the female lead.

The movie released on 24 October 2014, in three different languages: Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Happy New Year's record-breaking 45 crore opening!

A Shah Rukh Khan film releases on Diwali. No surprises there - the film has broken many records, as far as the Box Office is concerned. Trade pundits have finally managed to quote a proper opening day figure - and the collections for Happy New Year stand at 45 crores.

Despite receiving largely average reviews from critics all over, the Farah Khan directorial has smashed the opening-day record of Dhoom 3. The Aamir Khan starrer, which released on Christmas last year, had earned about 36 crores on its opening. Shah Rukh's Chennai Express, the 2013 Eid release, had come a close second in the list of the highest opening-day grossers.

Happy New Year, which features Shah RUkh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah in pivotal roles, managed to collect 42.62cr in Hindi, 1.43cr in its Telugu version and 0.92cr in its Tamil version, on Friday itself. The business is supposed to increase during the weekend, and the film is believed to touch the 100 crore mark soon.

Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone's Happy New Year has become the highest first day opener ever after amassing a humongous Rs 44.62 crore on its opening day. It has easily surpassed the first day collections of Aamir Khan's Dhoom: 3, that released last year.

Numerologist Sanjay B Jumaani credits this success to the combination of SRK's good fortune at box office and Farah Khan's release strategy.

"Shah Rukh Khan has two of the best numbers in Bollywood, 2 (Moon) and 6 (Venus). 3, 6, 9, is a family. Happy New Year adds to 3 for No.9 Farah Khan who chose 15th (6) to launch HNY music. She could have released the film on 23rd, a Diwali to get another holiday and could have eyed for an additional Rs 25 crore that day but waited for 24th (6). Also notice the upward sliding title like a plane taking off, which signifies success," Jumaani shares with Indian Express Online.

Produced by Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd and directed by Farah Khan, "Happy New Year" is a heist drama. The film that released Friday also features Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Sonu Sood, and Vivaan Shah.

According to a statement released by the production house, the film has earned a "record breaking opening at the box-office in India".

"Red Chillies Entertainments (RCE) Pvt Ltd announced today (Saturday) that their latest release, Happy New Year had a record breaking opening in the Box Office in India. It has collected Rs. 44.97 Crs on the opening day. With 42.62 Crs in Hindi, 1.43 Crs in Telugu dub and 0.92 Crs in Tamil dub, HNY has become the highest opening day ranker in Indian films so far," said a statement.
