This insult will not be taken up lightly by the woman who will decide to strike back at the king in near future.

But, she appeared confused to me in BETWEEN and when she could think of NOTHING, she said the following which i DID NOT like about Mainawati --> She feels it is her daughter's Pride and not hurt / FEAR that is stopping her. I felt odd when Jalal used the word 'guroor' when she refused to talk to him that night after applying "LEP". She told HIM twice(in ME and Amer) that she want the two things(i have underlined BELOW) in her relation with him - Her astitva, her stand in their relation. Even, she told him it takes TIME to some wounds to get healed { and all this won't happen at the drop of hat }. Still it is thought as pride. ?. I can understand why he thinks so but i wish he comes to know (or Jodha tells him later AGAIN , as she has already told him twice ) that it is the lack of Equality and Self-Assertion in their relationship, which she wanted.

To be fair to Jodha, she is only 20, going on 16. Prior to getting married off in a grand political bargain, her life experience consisted of fights with her sister and talking to Suryabhan with a curtain between them. From that, she has been thrown at the center stage of the most powerful empire in the land and its unbelievably conspiratorial palace.

She is smart, brave, and fearless. However, none of that is a substitute for expereince-based knowledge which will come in its own sweet time and not without some cost. For now, she theorizes based on what she has heard from others. That includes her visions of Rajvanshi, "stree", "pati", "patni", "astitva" etc. Like a bright junior high school student in a debating event, she can lecture on "stree purush sambandh" but knows little about it. All theory, without much life experience. We cannot expect her to know that others cannot provide you with your "astitva". They can provide you with relationship, love and respect, etc but your astitva comes from God and self-knowledge.

We can trust Jodha that something is truly bothering her, but not her diagnosis of it. She is also unstable - so no single word will capture it all. Guroor will do the job, but a few others would have done just as well.

No one who looks at her life in Agra so far can possibly agree with the notion that Jodha has been lacking in self-assertion. However, equality is a different matter.

Let us begin by observing the obvious. Back in Amer, she wasn't fighting for equality with her sevikas. While sakhi is a nice word and we see Jodha's inherent goodness in how she treats Moti, the two are not equals by any measure. However, Jodha finds herself on the other side of the power equation with Jalal and that bothers her. Fair enough, but the world cannot make everyone equal only with those who happen to be above them. :)

Jodha has been dealt a fantastic hand in life, something that millions would have given an arm and a leg for. It just happens not to be the strongest one in all situations at all times. She will have to learn how to play it wisely, how to make the most of it. She will, for sure. In time. As a matter of fact, she is in the middle of her lessons at this very moment. :)

Hi AKT,

Wonderful post! 👏👏👏

I do selective reading, going by trusted names and in the last few days, I have added you to my list. It may not be an honor to you, but it is a pleasure to me. 😆 Your writing reflects clear-headed and balanced thinking. Your views are honest without being brutal, and come straight to the point. I am captivated by your writing. This piece here can be easily turned into a stand-alone thread. Please try it. 😊

PS: Pls PM me whenever you make a thread.

Radhika - Coming from you it is an honor and a pleasure rolled into one. I just posted the following reply to you in another thread, but it applies here word for word:

"It took me a while to get back to you, but please accept my heart-felt thanks for your kind words. This is an extremely active forum, I am still trying to figure out the best way to participate, and look forward to learning a lot from more experienced members like you.

It just so happens that I can usually watch an episode only around 11AM (USA) and my schedule may not permit me to post till evening. By then almost everything I want to say about that particular episode has been said, always ably and often by many persons. :)

This almost rules out a separate thread on that episode. It seems most natural to read what others have written and add comments to them.

Now my post above also started its life that way, but somehow I got carried away in my excitement. Same thing a few other places. I will certainly think about converting these into separate threads. Similarly, issues that are not related to a specific epi but are broader in scope can go into their own threads.

I still have to figure out how to get my soft whistle heard in the middle of a 10,000 piece orchestra that plays here, but that's for later. :)

I just want to add that you are one of the select few I have found here whose posts and comments attract me like a magnet. Thank you for all of those too."
