Deepika isn't happy. In fact, she is on heavy sulk duty', reveal Bollywood insiders. Reason? Her ex, not Ranbir Kapoor, but model-turned-actor Nihar Pandya's (above) debut film is based on their love story. The movie is semi-autobiographical and the fact that some barbed truths about her will be out in the open is making her squirm. The plot of the movie, Rome - The Real Dope On Romeo, revolves around a jilted lover who goes to Rome to decipher why Romeo's love story worked and his didn't. Apparently, the love story that didn't work' is based on Nihar and Dippy's affair.
The movie is directed by Prashant Chadha of Aap Kaa Surroor and Azaan fame, who is a close friend of Nihar. Prashant says he is making the movie as he owes it to Nihar. The director also confirms that he was close friends with Deepika when she was Nihar's girlfriend and was the one to give her a break in a music video after which her career catapulted.
The movie will extensively showcase how romance bloomed between Deepika and Nihar after they met at Anupam Kher's acting institute in Mumbai. The plot also deals with how Nihar supported Deepika while she was a novice in the glamour industry. She stayed with Nihar's parents for three years during her initial years in Mumbai. Nihar threw her a grand surprise birthday party when she turned 20 and never shied away from splurging on the girl he planned on marrying some day. But his life took a drastic turn when Deepika met Ranbir Kapoor!
Prashant also divulges that Nihar was the first person Deepika ran back to when she broke up with Ranbir the first time. Nihar, not aware of the fact that Deepika was cheating on him, confronted Ranbir but was left red-faced when Ranbir openly stated that his girlfriend was sneaking behind his back. Nihar was again hurt when news about Deepika meeting cricketer Yuvraj Singh and M.S. Dhoni on the sly hit the headlines.
Sources say Dippy has made SOS calls to some powerful industry people to arm-twist the filmmaker to alter the story or completely shelve the project. But Prashant is determined to put Nihar's heartbreaking story on screen.
